Best Tip I Got on Disboards

Before my recent trip, I had written down lots of tips and neat little secrets. We saw many things we hadn't, and had a chance to do some cool things too, thanks to many of you, here on the Disboards. So, I just wanted to share what I thought was most valuable. Here it is:

Gate #14 for entry. Every day, that gate had noone or maybe one other family waiting. We scooted right up to the front thanks to that tip. There's a big tree, just like the poster had said, that blocks the gate, and no one lines up there. What a great piece of info.

I suppose I've just busted the secret, but wanted to pass it on.

The secret has been around for at last 10 years and I see few who know about it when I arrive. There are two trees - one on each side of the middle gate.

The best tip I had from this board was how to view WOC (thanks for the superthread, Hydroguy!). I can't begin to imagine how I would have tackled that show without the wealth of valuable tips on the superthread. Knowing how to see that show makes all the difference in how much you enjoy it. And keeping up with the changes they make over the years is just as important! :)

I love this friendly, helpful board!

Thank you, look forward to using this tip on our trip!!

Is gate #14 always going to be open?

Thats an interesting question. It wasn't always open. But then, there always seemed to be a selection of them that didn't open. Maybe because it was lower season, they didn't always have them fully staffed right at rope drop.

One morning it didn't open, we just slid over and merged with the lane next to us, so we were still right at the front. No biggie, and they all understood - no hard feelings.

As Hydro mentioned, I heard #19 is the same. We didn't try it after we scored on #14.

I'd seen this tip before but totally forgot all about it! Writing it down now!

Not to bring another nerd obsession into the mix, but I keep envisioning Platform 9 3/4 from Harry Potter... pixiedust:

and how exactly is the best way to view WOC?? :goodvibes

i love the tip about gate 14, never used it before but i hope if we stand in line for it and it isn't open they will have us merge.

So far, the best tip I've seen helps to avoid overplanning. Let each person in the group pick one or two things that are absolute must do. Hit those early and then EVERYTHING else you get to do is just gravy. I think this is an excellent idea and wish I could remember who posted it so I could credit them.

I'll definitely remember Gate 14 for the future! One of the best tips we had was to go to the princess show and DO.NOT.LEAVE at the end, just to hang around and the characters would return for a private meet and greet with the people still there (but if you left, you would not be readmitted). Such a great way to meet both Rapunzel and Flynn. That and the RSR wide right technique -- worked like a charm.

One of the best tips I read was about RSR FP's. With small children in a stroller I really didn't want to fight with crazy people going to RSR first thing in the morning. I read that if you go ride TSMM first thing and then go back to the RSR FP line at about 8:30 (this in the summer) the FP line was almost nothing It was totally true and it works like a charm. TSMM gets super busy so later so it's a win win!

The best tip I have ever gotten from the Dis Boards was the secret bathroom in the Carnation Gardens. That came in super handy one day when we exited the Plaza Inn, and the Tomorrowland bathroom was lined up for what seemed like a mile! Of course, that bathroom isn't there anymore. The bathroom in Aladdin's Oasis is still good though!

The other great tip I got was to request a waterside table at Blue Bayou. I never would have known otherwise. They always tell you the wait will be longer than it really will be. :teacher:
