One Dis Addict signing up for another Pre-Trip Report!

Figured I'd start one of these babies for planning my next two trips! A June Fantasy Eastern 7 day Cruise... and just booked yesterday... Tower of Terror 10 Miler Run & 5K in October 2014.

Course you should know who these trips involve! Introductions would be nice. So Hi.. I'm Nicole...and this is my family!

Nicole. 'aka as the mastermind, the Dis addict & the sorta-runner'

That picture was taken the day after my 13.1 run through Disney! I really didn't like running at that time. :)

I love Disney. This should not be a revelation. (I mean obviously if you are on these boards and reading or writing Trip Reports- you love Disney more than your average Yogi Bear). I spend too much time & too much money at Disney. I can't help it- I'm addicted. Our most recent trip was in November 2013 (shameless plug HERE for my Trip Report in Progress: Mickey MMMouse, McDonald Duck and Memo: 12 Days and 13.1 Miles )

On that trip I ran my very first 1/2 Marathon (Disney's Wine & Dine). It was the hardest journey I have taken thus far as my body is not a natural's runner body. I swore up and down when I finished I'd never do it again. So it only makes sense I signed up for the ToT 10 miler. Duh.

I like to write, take pictures, vacation & completely TYPE A personality Also, I'm sarcastic and a bad speller. So again.. HI!

Next up- the DH- Kurt.

His love of Disney rivals mine in absolutely no way. He is a participant in about 1/2 of our Disney excursions. His Pixie Dust-Meter is permanently on medium-low. In other words, he can sometimes be a Disney Kill-Joy. He does, however, LOVE Disney Cruises. So he's very excited for our June adventure!

He JUST started running (like 2 seconds ago) but is trying to reclaim his health (and youthful lower weight.. arn't we all?)... so he was my golden key into the October trip. I convinced him he needed to train for a long distance run. Not any long-distance run..but a DISNEY one. And just like that- he's in! Ready to begin the journey I undertook a year ago- training for his first long race!

The kidlets below are joining us for Cruise portion of this trip. Not the race which is adults only. (can we get a holla for the adult trip.. which will not only include running but alcohol. And Jellyrolls) Sorry, I went off on a tangent- that happens when I am excited without further ado... I give you the kidlets....

DD #1- Becca

She's a tweeny. And my Disney soul-mate. She loves it as much as me. The magic of the Mouse radiates through her whole being. I love that so much about her. Her dream when she grows up is to be a Princess at Walt Disney World. Some parents dream of their kids being doctors or lawyers... me- I'm happy with her life ambitions because it also means free tickets for me into Disney. :) She truly is a princess...she has always loved them and still does. She is patiently waiting for her prince charming to come & she will wait it out (with her momma) at the Happiest Place on Earth.

DD #2- Sarah

This girl- oh this girl keeps me on my toes. She does love Disney. But not like her older sister. She's incredibly smart and inquisitive and fearless. She also falls on the high (very high) functioning autism spectrum. So many things can be a trigger for her. (crowds, little sleep, anxiety). She also has a habit of blurting out whatever comes in her brain. This is especially fun in places like Disney while standing in line next to someone who might have body odor. In her own words "I don't want people to think I'm a girl who likes puppies and Justice".. (that's the Sarah way of stating she's a tomboy- and there are many, many horrors in liking puppies). Yup, this girl loves dirt, snakes, bugs and dinos. I love this girl so much!

DD #3- Charlie

This girl is seriously adorable. I can't take any credit for her cuteness. Although I am the super lucky one she calls mama, I did not give birth to her. Charlie came to us from China last year at age 4. This girl had a hard, hard start in life and the fact that she smiles and hugs shows what an amazing, resilient spirit she has. She is my hero. After a hard year of adjustments (it's hard to learn what Ohana is, my friends, when you never had it from the get-go) we are in a good place. She loved her first trip to Disney (the trip report) and we are excited to show her the high seas!

So there you have it- the cast of characters of my little PTR for both the cruise and the ToT Run. I will be intermingling both till we go on the cruise (and then start a Trip Report for the cruise)...

Thanks for joining along on our next Disney Adventures.

Okay- so a quick cruise overview at this point...

We leave May 31st on the Disney Fantasy for 7 days.

The schedule looks like this:

Sat- Embarkation
Sunday- At Sea
Monday- At Sea
Tuesday- St. Maarten
Wednesday- St.Thomas
Thursday- At Sea
Friday- Castaway Cay (aka Heaven on Earth) :cloud9:
Saturday- Disembark (boo)

We have had this cruise booked for 2 years (since we were on a 5day on the Dream) and are excited to try out a new ship.

My mother is joining us (her first Disney Cruise) as well. I have very little planned at this point for the cruise outside airline tickets & a group tour in St. Maarten.

What I do have is an AMAZING FB group for this cruise including one subset focused on Fitness that is the BEST GROUP EVER. So there are lots of plans & ideas floating. The group tour in St. Maarten was scheduled for our FB group peeps only!

I have no idea what to do on St. Thomas. No huge plans for Sea Days or Castaway.

I am in the Fish Extender Group so I have to come up with those ideas still... (crafty ideas anyone, anyone?).

And we added one night at All Star Music to go to Magic Kingdom before we fly home! (because.. of course.. I'm addicted- remember?)

So them's the Cruise PLans!

This was literally booked yesterday. I have NOTHING planned except that I am, in fact, registered for both the night 10 miler race on October 4th AND the 5K race the morning of October 4th.

Bring it baby!!

I know that my husband is coming. I know that we are meeting my SIL (who is also running) and her hubby (who is not running).

That's it. I got LOTS of plans to make here.. and things to bounce off...

Where to stay? What to eat? How many park Days? What bars to hit and drinks to drink? (remember- NO KIDS!). Can I recover from said bars/drinks due to being old? (that answer is likely no!). What costumes to wear for BOTH races? Will I get my husband in a costume? (that answer is also likely no).

Let's start this planning!!! :)

Hi, Nicole! :wave2: It's Laura from the FB groups!
Joining in for your Pre-Trip Report(s) and eventual Trip Report!

Following along! I'm signed up for the ToT 10 miler too and have nothing booked yet but the race itself. I look forward to reading more :)

Following along! :)

Hi- Welcome!

Yhea... A fellow S#@T! :) How bad does that looking in a random trip report! Glad you joined & I'm soooo excited for our meet up!

Following along! I'm signed up for the ToT 10 miler too and have nothing booked yet but the race itself. I look forward to reading more :)

Yhea, a fellow runner. I am going to look at hotels at lunchtime. I thought I read that Beach Club was already gone (which I can't really afford anyways I just WANTED to stay there)..... so that's my goal in the next hour- to research that. Do you have an idea where you want to stay? The host resorts arn't as many as W&D were.......

i'm here! you are one crazy lady for signing up for a 10 miler but I totally admire you for doing it! that is awesome! so, do you get unlimited ToT rides after you do that run? no waiting, no lines, just go again and again til you can't do another drop--cuz you totally should!

i'm excited to read all the planning, but I am super excited to hear all about the cruise, the tours, castaway cay (I haven't been there yet, but I do agree it must be heaven on earth!), the fish extenders.....we are going on a cruise in 2015 (October I think) and I just love reading all I can about them!

and, adult only trip? :woohoo: I can get behind that!! some of those Disney drinks looks super tempting, but i'm always 1) with kids, 2) in charge of getting everyone else moving and 3) afraid i'll never recover from them and miss my Disney time! I'll have a few vicariously through you!

I just started running last year and have only done 5ks so far so just becoming a runner :) I have a local 10k on tap for June and ToT will be my first RunDisney event. I'm not sure about the hotel yet. I'm probably either going to go with Port Orleans or rent points to stay at Saratoga Springs. I kind of like that it is so close to Downtown Disney.

If there was a resort on Castaway- I'd plop my rear right there. It's a WONDERFUL island. It's almost why we book back on Disney and pay twice (three times) the cost!

The problem with drinking for me now is I'm old & I just don't recover well from alcohol. I want to drink.. I just can't. So I have to plan that carefully! Hahahahaha!!

I think French Quarter is my top contendor right now.

I was not a runner at all last year at this time. And somehow I made it across the finish line of the Wine & Dine! So you will do it!!! Support is key!

Mattie made it to follow along :wave2:

Whoop. Whoop- Another SL#T! :) Hahahaha! Thanks for coming over!

Okay- so I want to book a hotel sooner than later with the rumor that some hotels are already sold out... (i.e- Beach Club for some nights).

The race has the following host resorts:

All Stars
Pop
Carribean Beach
French Quarter
Riverside
Beach Club
Boardwalk
Wilderness Lodge

Compared to Wine & Dine- this list is pretty small.

So where to stay?

I think the values are out. Just because.

And if I'm honest with myself- I REALLY wanted Beach Club just for closeness to EPCOT. But I think that's out.

I would also like to point out I have this Disney Bucket List thing going..and it's main goal is to hit every single hotel at DisneyWorld. Lame, I know.. but the sign of a true Dis Addict!! So that plans into factors as well...

That leaves these as my top contendors:

French Quarter-

Pros:
I've never stayed here
The smallness of the resort appeals to me
The theming appeals to me.
Cheapest Option
Close to DD

Cons:
Far away from EPCOT/Boardwalk (where I want to hit Jellyrolls & Food and Wine).
No Hot Tub

Wilderness Lodge-

Pros-
Near Magic Kingdom
I love, love, love this theming
Good resturants in the hotel itself & nearby to Poly with other good resturants.
Hubby's favorite resort ever.
Hot Tub

Cons-
Stayed here before
Far away from Epcot
Cost
Bus to most parks except Magic Kingdom

and.. Boardwalk

Pros-
Right near Epcot
Right near MGM (where race is)
Literally on top of Jellyrolls
Hot Tub

Cons-
Mostly this...

The clown from IT gives me the serious heeby geebies. I have no idea what the eff Disney was thinking when designing this sucker? Seriously, what crack were they smoking?

Busing from this resort would be bad (experienc from Beach Club- and they share a bus).
Cost- this is my highest priced option.
Could be loud room and I'm light sleeper.

So these are my three options I'm considering...........

Any opinions or insights?

Darnit I'm late to the party again, but I'm here AND SUBSCRIBED this time!!!:cool1:

Oh, and French Quarter DOES have a hot tub. I know! I was in it once!!

My vote would be French quarter. Why? Mostly because its cheaper, you've never been, and I thought it was so cool when we went for breakfast. Also, I could NOT see that clown and not be creeped out!! :rotfl:

How many kids have nightmares that stay at that resort? "Mommy, the clown is coming to get me - the clown!!!" The fact that you come out of his mouth on the slide does not help either!!! It really does remind me of Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King's "IT".

I am thinking French Quarter too... that's kinda top in my book right now!

The clown picture honestly made me laugh out loud. Imagine having a room that looked out on that?! (If there are even such rooms!)

I vote French Quarter.

Joining in!

When I stayed at the Boardwalk in 2009, the only night that was loud was when a corporate company was having a party by the pool right in front of our window. It lasted until 10:30ish so not too bad. We are staying at the Boardwalk in May for Star Wars Weekends & I haven't warned my husband about the clown pool as he's never really noticed it before but we haven't stayed on the Villa Side before.

But if you are looking at saving some money, I would go towards French Quarter.

That does seem to be majority opinion. Now that I know it has a hot tub, my opinion has swayed greater to that! The ONLY thing really keeping me still considering that hotel with the awful 'IT' slide is I plan on spending time at Food and Wine & at Jellyrolls since I have NO KIDS for this trip.

Yhea! Fellow ToT runner!

You will have to let me know what the hubby thinks of said clown pool. Ha!

I feel if I'm ever going to stay at this resort- this would be the time to do it. Mostly because I won't have my kids with me & therefore they won't be there to be traumitized for life by the clown. Hahahahaha
