Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

We have had a great time decorating our bands for our upcoming trip! Our last trip we used nail sticker art, this time - thanks to all of you - we have some different creations. (Thanks to neutie88 for the inspiration for my son's band - major shout out to you!)

i am seeing a lot of people talking about the clear nail polish to seal it. Would Mod Podge work? Has anyone tried it?

Early on in the thread somebody did use modge podge and I beleive that she said that it cracked and I think that is why so many people started using clear nail polish. Hope I'm remembering correctly.

These are all SO Amazing! :thumbsup2

We won't receive our magic bands until we check in :(

Could someone please tell me the exact measurements of the inner section of the MB please (not including the black outer band)? Maybe I can try to make up some sort of adhesive cover before we leave and try to use that? :earboy2:

Somewhere in these 37 pages someone was kind enough to draw a full size template to print out for those who want to plan before they get their MBs. :thumbsup2

Thanks for remembering! one thing i don't do well is remember :rotfl: I can not wait to receive our MB so i can play around and see what i can come up with. I have to call Disney because it is giving me a hard time logging into my disney experience. I changed my password because i couldn't remember what it was before. When i reset it, it still didn't work. Ugg. Oh well hopefully they can help me when i call.

Regarding the ones on DVC Central... How would you go about making those? Do Cricut machines accept vinyl? Can you program the design on a computer and then have it cut it? So cool!

Yes circut and cameo machines accept vinyl
You would need to digitize the MB template in the cutting machines design software. Then the machine will cut out your template. Your first step would be to print your design within the template area. Then cut it out.

The DVC store ones are made (we assume) from a professional vinyl printer and die cutting machine. And made from very high quality 3m vinyl
These pro vinyl printer and die cut machines are very expensive. Around $100,000 or so.

One assumes they own a sign printing company and already have these machines. Or,have access to one.

We are, surprised at how cheap the DVC,store is selling the decals. As they are not cheap to make in low quantities. Just from a materials, stand point alone.

However, there are full size 8x10 blank waterproof vinyl sheets that you can use with your at home ink jet printer. These sheets are durable and good quality and ideal for the at home DIY MB project. Allowing you to design your custom MB- print it onto the vinyl sticker paper-then use your circut or cameo cutting machine to cut a perfect cut. All you have to do is peel and stick to your MB

Side note about the DVC store
I,would say they are limited in what they can do design wise. Someone over there knows what they are doing. As the current decals they sell are generic Disney designs..that appear to not violate any copyrighted or trademarked images.

We are, shocked that Disney is not making/selling the vinyl decals/stickers,for,your MB. As there is not much of a cost for,Disney to produce, them. Since they can do so in massive amounts.
But I,will say it's only a matter of,time before Disney starts selling their own official MB decals.

EDIT. Sorry ipad auto correct decided I needed to put commons after ever word. Lol

THANK YOU so much for this response! I suppose it would be much easier to purchase one from them, but I'm not very fond of any of their designs. :) Maybe I'll play around and see what I can do myself!

of course it's easier to click a button to buy one. Then wait for it in the mail.

but this does not allow you to get exactly what you want.
Nor to have a truly customized (one-of-a-kind) MB

the at home option is certainly the way to go (in our opinion)

That's why we were tossing around the idea of selling the MB decals
(like the DVD store)

However, we were not selling a set design.

We were going to offer a fully customized decal- where you get to pick whats on it. And we design it for you and then make it.
or, if you were able to...you send us your design and we make it.

Thought the logistics of that are tricky.
as there is no profit to be made (unless price was high) as it would take allot of time to do this.
then your going to run into the legal side of it...where someone is going to want something that you don't own and are not licensed to sell.

We will track down the link for the at home waterproof vinyl ink jet paper
and post it...so those wanting to tackle the DIY MB can do so
as I think we would see some amazing designs from this.

Thanks for all the compliments - I did my youngest's band this evening. Her's represents her travel fast pitch softball team - it is in their colors. She loves how it turned out.

My oldest daughter is finishing hers up tomorrow :)

Did you put a clear coat on top or just the dots?

Has anyone tried using puff paint for fabrics? I don't know how good it would be for intricate designs but maybe for polka dots and lines. They might peel off too easily though. Would be flexible and waterproof though.

I've been making some magic band covers and some sliders. Here is what I've come up with so far. Tomorrow I'm going to make some sliders with some jibbitz. Sure hope they fit the Magic Bands. I don't get our bands until the beginning of March. I used the tutorial and measurements that I found in this thread. :good vibes

Thanks! I'm excited about the next set I'm putting together. I'm using the following jibbitz: Mickey head, Minnie head, Princess Jasmine, and Pirates of the Caribbean skull and cross bones. I'll post a photo when I'm finished.

Here are my sliders that I put together with jibbitz. I took the backs of the jibbitz off and super glued them to a plastic strap keeper.

Had to share! My bands arrived today! Now I just have to wait for my mom to get back from out of town, so we can open the box. It's so tempting, sitting there on the table!
