don't know if i'm elated or gassy, but i'm somewhere in that zone...fall 2014 PTR

I like the first one too, but i'm not sure I could make that sculpted head. it's super cute though. I like the hat on the one with the stick arms. she just used a white stocking hat. I could totally do something with a hat and some felt. i'm thinkin' now!! :thumbsup2

Or use black pipe cleaners and run them thru the hat and fold back up (so each pipe cleaner would be 2 of the sticks on top)

I would really like to try the one with the sculpted head but I worry it will be infuriating! I am hoping between now and July/Aug some sort of great tutorial will come out and I can do that. Otherwise I thing I would be doing some sort of combo of the two.

you are way more motivated then I am! I am sure I would get too frustrated trying the sculpted head one! besides, I'm pretty sure my DH would not want to wear it (or the hat idea I am leaning towards either) if it's hot outside. I think i'm going to look for a tshirt for him with olaf on it and the phrase "put me in summer and i'll be a happy.....snowman!" that line from the song always makes him laugh!

soooo, i'll spare you all the gross details, but this day went from holiday/no work or school to running between two sick kids all day.... between bathroom trips, I started doing some research about MNSSHP. now I have some questions and thoughts....

also, this is our first party, so if anyone has any tips, i'd LOVE to hear them!

I know we probably won't be able to get to everything that i'd like to do, but i'll make a list anyway....

*meet jack and sally (we love nightmare, but we can probably see them on our cruise next year)
*meet mickey
*meet Minnie
*meet goofy
*meet Rapunzel and Flynn
*meet aurora and phillip
*meet tiana and Naveen (can do before the party)
*meet jack sparrow (what? i'm sure the girls will want to meet a pirate! it's not just for me...ok, maybe it is! ::yes:: )

of course, the parade (10:30 one? i'm afraid the girls will be too tired to make it to the late one and that the first one will be so early, we'll feel like we're wasting time, sitting and waiting for it start) and hallowishes

villains mix and mingle

rides i'd like to do during the party (because they are outside and lit up and I love that!)
*astro orbiter
*tea cups
*dumbo
*big thunder mountain railroad
*splash mountain (maybe? if it's hot, yes, otherwise, do we want to get wet in costumes?)
*magic carpets

rides to do before the party (since they are inside)
*POC
*haunted mansion
*small world
*Winnie the pooh
*under the sea
*mickey's philharmagic

things i'm not too concerned about
*getting candy (really, we eat enough junk when we're there)
*either of the dance parties (just not a high priority)

can someone tell me how to do all that? :rotfl: is there anything that is a must do or something we can skip? seriously, any tips would be great!!

From what Ive read you will want to get in the popular M&G lines first. That seems to be the main thing you wait in lines for. I'd be ready and in line for the first one right when the party starts. I personally plan to try to make it to 2, mayyyyyybe 3 M&G's and then just wonder around taking in the sights and eating yummy halloween themed foods!! (Have you seen the pumpkin waffle at Sleepy Hollow for MNSSHP?!?!?)

If you can sleep in that day and maybe get a nap in you can probably keep your kiddos up for the 2nd parade, thats our plan as well! You can always feed them candy to keep them going! Lol!! :rotfl:

I hear the 2nd one is SO much less crowded!!! Then we are going to try to do rides last, I have heard it clears out after that fireworks and last parade and there are virtually no lines!!

But like I said, thats if you can rest that morning, like we plan to do. We figure even if the kids fall asleep at the end we will still hang out and do rides while they sleep in the stroller, well just have to take turns! :woohoo:

I'm with you on the candy, its not a big concern for me, but the hubs and the kids are certainly looking forward to it. I figure we'll trick or treat when the stops are convenient.

Based off all the TRs and advice I have read I dont think its possible to do it all in one night, and even the amount of M&Gs you have listed may not be possible. I'd have your kiddos each pick their #1 must meet person and do those first!! From what I have read the lined get to be 45-hour long for the limited time characters that are only out during MNSSHP, and you'd simply spend all your time in line, which isnt very fun. I think if I explain that to Olivia shell understand. I KNOW if I ask her to choose between a long line to meet a character or trick or treating what shell choose! ;)

My issue is ME! I want to meet all the special characters! LOL!

Denovagirl--(sorry, forgot to quote you before i started typing) I've gotten the same feeling--that you can't do it all in one party. But Im sure we'll have fun doing what we can! :thumbsup2

I did see those waffles!! Those are a must do, right?!? ::yes::

We are totally sleeping in that morning and then i plan on taking the girls to the pool or something to help them nap that afternoon. They will probably do fine once we're there, but it'd be our luck that they'll crash out in the middle of the party!

I hear you on wanting to meet all the characters! I wish there was a way to do it, but I guess that's how they get you to come back. Which m&g's are the popular ones, do you know? If I had to just pick a couple, I'd probably say we'd end up at goofy, rapunzel and aurora since we can see Mickey, Minnie and jack and Sally (I think) on the cruise and our youngest LOVES princesses. If we could get to one more for our oldest (Donald maybe?) I think they'd be happy.

Do you know--is the villains mingle thing a show, a dance party, just the villains in one spot to meet? I guess I'm not clear on that. I think the girls would like to see them, but then I wonder if they'll be too intimidated to get pictures with them and we could have spent that time doing something else.

Does anyone know the answer to these questions--What about fast pass that day--If we get into the park at 4 using the party tickets, can we make any FP+ reservations for the time before the party? Also, what time does the park close for the party--midnight?

We have done the party. You need to prepare yourself for the fact that if you want to do ANY of the meet and greets that is about all you will do at the party. They are wildly popular and the lines are incredibly long.

Some people go to the parties for the characters- in that case, make a plan of character sigtings and work the rest in IF You can (but don't count on it).

If you focus more on the rides/shows- you will then not have time for characters. There doesn't seem to be a good way to mix it all at the party.

For us, we chose to do the shows & rides vs. characters. We happily came across a *Few* short lines at the VERY start of the party (at 7pm) - but it was really 'luck'.

We enjoyed the trick or treating, the dance parties, the parade (2nd one is much better) & the rides.. so we just stuck that that instead of long lines for characters...

eewww--I definitely don't want to spend the whole party standing in lines! thanks for the info!

well, it paid to talk to our girls! they made this much easier then I was making it! I asked them which they would rather do, rides or stand in lines to meet characters and they said rides! (did I phrase that to get the answer I wanted? hhmmmm..... :rolleyes1 ) our youngest said she just wants to meet princesses, NO PRINCES (sorry, princes, you're just not cutting it for some reason!), and really only snow white and aurora, which we can do at epcot, and tiana, which we can do before the party. our oldest said she wants to meet a pirate (smart, smart girl!) so if that's the only m&g we need to do at the party, we can just get in that line right away a little before party time and still get to rides and shows, etc......hopefully. now I feel like I can make some plans for that night! I should ask the girls to help me make decisions more often! ::yes::

That our exact plan that morning too! Sleep in, eat, tire the girls out swimming, nap, eat, PARTY! Hahah! :lmao:

The Villians thing seems to be right after the Villians stage show some of them come out and just mingle and take a few photos. I dont know if they will actually sign anything for you though, havent read any TR's where they did.

From all my research the most popular M&G's seem to be:
Jack & Sally
The 7 Dwarves
Pooh & Friends (Because they are all in one group)
Capt. Jack
And the Princesses with their Princes

I think we are going to go for either Jack & Sally or 7 Dwarves first... then if we can we will go to the Princesses at some point bc Olivia wants to meet Flynn Ryder. I guess we will have to take a family vote on J&S vs 7 dwarves!

You can still use FP+ before and during the party from what I have seen! So you could make your reservations from 4-7 and get a lot of rides in!

The park closes at midnight or 1am for the party. Depends on the day I believe. I have also been told the bus lines actually arent too bad if you leave at the end bc a lot of people head out after the fireworks/parades! Score!

Thats good! I think thats how our kiddos will feel as well! Its nice to have photos with all the cool characters. but in the end its so much more FUN just to do what you feel like and not have to wait in lines! Theres so much to see just walking around!!

We are definitely not spending a bunch of time to see the characters...I think we will just do it if we "happen" by a short line....so not too picky with those. ;) I do like the idea of seeing the villians though. I read somewhere that they do not do autographs. A couple of pics would be nice though :thumbsup2

My girls have never seen the nightmare before Christmas. I'm sure they don't know who jack and sally are....(parenthood fail?) :lmao:

We are planning to do a couple of the less popular meets. I read lotso is uausally out and a short line. That would make DD's day to meet him so we will try for that one. I would also like to try and see Abu from Alddin. The only popular one we are going to try for is Rapunzel and Flynn. Otherwise we are going to spend our time enjoying the party atmosphere.

It seems like you really have to prioritize your party time, it a hard decision!

Haha! You'll have to remedy that one day, though that movie can be a little weird for young ones...so no judgement on your kids not seeing it!!!!

Good to know about the Villian autographs! :thumbsup2

Oh! Abu! Olivia was just talking about meeting him! I didn't know he'd be out! That is a good one, and probably not as popular! You def have to prioritize with all things Disney, not just the Halloween party! I'm hoping our party night wont be too crowded...the crowd calendar for that day shows a 2 out of 10, and we are doing a Tuesday night on Oct 2nd (if the schedule ends up as predicted) and I have read some TR's around that time where the partied weren't as crowded, and they def didn't sell out, so maybe the lines won't be as bad as say a weekend night closer towards Halloween? :confused3

yeah, i'm pretty sure the villains don't sign anything, but that's ok. I don't know if we're actually going to try to get many signatures this trip anyway, so i'm not too worried about that. pictures would be fun, but I guess we'll see what we get.

never seen nightmare?!? what kind of horrible parents are you? :rotfl2: just kidding! :goodvibes my kids haven't seen lots of the classic movies, like lady and the tramp and dumbo and 101 dalmations. we're in the same boat--parenting fail! we're all in good company, right? ::yes:: my dh and I love nightmare, but I wasn't sure what the kids would think the first time they saw it. but, they loved it! now they watch all those weird movies--the corpse bride, nightmare, frankenweenie....they love them, I guess because we do.

I know--who wants to prioritize at a party!?! I was going to try to get to Flynn also, but then maddie (Hannah could care less) said she didn't want to see him, so I guess we'll just pass on that this time. she is sort of weird with the guy characters.....gets really shy, won't talk, sometimes won't let go of my hand. but she's totally fine with any princess!

we might try to go over to Aladdin and jasmine and crew--jasmine is the only princess that Hannah likes and she might think it's fun to see all the characters together.

i'm sort of hoping the same for our party. we are going on a Friday, which isn't great, but it's not the first party and it's not close to Halloween. i'm sort of keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be as crowded as it could be. the crowd calendar I looked at says that day is a 4 of 10, so that sounds pretty good. let's hope for lots of pixie dust for both our parties!!

I don't know why I didn't post this before, but here's some info from kennythepirate.com I really like his site--he seems to know what he's talking about. anyway, he has a map from the party last year, including one with all the characters and where they meet. I know some things will change for this year, but it sort of gave me an idea of where things would be, etc.

here's the map of characters

here's the front of the map

so, just a question....we will be at epcot our first day, which happens to be during food and wine this year. we aren't too worried about doing much of the food and wine things since we're going to hoop de doo that night and also because we want to do a few things we missed last time and just focus on those things (pick a pearl, maybe meet anna and elsa, etc). my question is....how crowded does it get during f&w? will it be horrible, or no worse then a crowded park day? the calendars I've looked at actually recommend epcot on the day we're going and the crowd level is only 2. will it be crazy or ok? any thoughts?

Our very first trip to WDW (October 2012) we went to Epcot on our first day, which happened to be a Saturday and it was CRAZY! I think we went back another day during the week and it wasn't so bad. So I'd say avoid the weekends if you can!

And replying about MNSSHP, send me your e-mail address and I'll forward something my DD's dance teacher (who is now our TA) sent me about the party! I thought it was pretty helpful! :)

well--that's good to know, I've been debating doing epcot on Thursday or Saturday, but I guess we'll stick with Thursday!

I've been sort of thinking about what to do about autographs this trip. on our last trip, we saw a LOT of characters and did a photo mat that turned out great and that I really love.

I didn't really want to do another photo mat this trip (it was sort of a pain to carry around the parks). I didn't want to do autograph books again either. since we're not going to see as many characters, I was thinking I could do something a little more fun for the girls. I came up with doing pillowcases!

I've seen/read about other people getting characters to sign fabric squares and then making all sorts of awesome quilts from them, but, the last thing we need around our house is another blanket! we always seem to be able to use pillowcases though and the girls like picking out fun fabric and having their own special ones for their beds.

I was thinking about finding some Disney fabric (frozen, whatever princesses Madison wants to see, mickey and Minnie, pirates or just one that's sort of plain for any random characters we see) and then sewing a solid color border on the edge. then we can have the characters sign on the solid piece. when we get home, I can embroider over the autograph so that, even if the ink fades, the name will stay and we can actually use them.

it seems easy to pack and carry around and something the girls will like and that we can actually use. and, since we just went and have Disney stuff we can already wear, i don't have much to get ready and want to do some Disney sewing! what do you all think?

Love the pillowcase idea! We also have so many blankets around the house, I totally understand not wanting another one. I think the pillowcase would be cute and practical and would look good no matter how many signatures you actually collect.

Love it!!
Ok I did a quilt for Caden's nursery on our babymoon and I got fabric markers from the craft section at Walmart. They don't wash off/fade like sharpies do.
And we got a small (5x7ish) clipboard and stretched the fabric over that and then used small binder clips to hold it stretched. That way the fabric didn't move around while the character signed it.

And now I'm gonna go find a pic of Caden's quilt and show it off! Lol
