WISH Away the Pounds *~*Fabulous February Challenge*~* Everyone Welcome <3

Hi everyone! Been a bit MIA, as it seems is the case with a lot of us!

This weekend was rough - one giant rollercoaster. Between my friend's mother's death, and almost getting a new job, and then not, and then almost deciding to move to Boston, then deciding to almost get a job at WDW again... OY. There were many tears. My eyes actually hurt this morning from all of it. Tried to stay mostly on plan, but skipped my workout yesterday and this morning. Gonna try to make it up tonight and just make yesterday my rest day for this week. Gotta keep on keepin' on!

Here's hoping this week brings better weather and better news!

If you could have ONE FREE "domestic" to help for the rest of your life, which would you prefer??? WHY??

Probably a toss up for me between Kitchen cleaner and bathroom cleaner - but that is only because my apartment doesn't have a dishwasher LOL If it did, bathroom cleaner all the way!

Are you a COLLECTOR? What do you collect? Do you believe that your collection enhances your life or just adds clutter? Do you think that there is any correlation between home clutter, emotional clutter, and weight issues?

Hmmm... there is definitely a correlation, but it is more like, when I'm stressed, I don't have time to workout, and also don't have time to clean things in my apartment. It also is a bigger excuse - if I need to work out, I'll tell myself that is more important to clean the apartment and I'll do one instead of the other, instead of doing both.

Hopefully will be back later to catch up!

where has this month gone? I apologize for being so MIA...I've been struggling. two weeks left this month and I'm really trying to commit to juicing, smoothies for breakfast/lunch and a sensible dinner to see if I can get this fluff I picked back up to go away.

WOOHOO!!!! WTG!

I need to run today, but it's snowing, again. I may just get up early and hit it in the morning. I seem to do better right when I get up before the day gets in the way.

The hay is in the barn now -- all that is left is have a fabulous time! princess: (and pack ;))

Sending you good thoughts and pixiedust: for your stressful times, Jill.

Susan, hope you aren't getting blown away in the crazy wind today! :flower3:

HUGE congratulations in the new WW low!! Bravo!!!! Proud of you!!!!

Aww, thanks.

I'm glad to hear that your DD is getting new boots because maybe that means there won't be any more snow. ;) Safe travels! :flower3:

A "fluff" QOTD for Sunday, February 16, 2014:

If you could have ONE FREE "domestic" to help for the rest of your life, which would you prefer??? WHY??

Cook/Chef?

Nanny?

Laundress?

Bathroom cleaner?

Dishwasher/kitchen cleaner?

Landscaper (winter and summer)??

Personal assistant (pay bills, answer phones, make appointments, etc)??

(I've been watching too much Downton Abbey I think!! :lmao: )...........P

Someone to vacuum and mop! ::yes::

Good Monday morning all!! Here is your QOTD for Monday, February 17, 2014:

Not really a collector but still have too much stuff. DH is determined to get down to where everything we own can fit on a golf cart by retirement. :lmao:

I vote for either Dishwasher/kitchen cleaner or laundress. I hate hate hate those 2 jobs the most!!! But a chef would be nice too because we get into food ruts. If push came to shove I would go with Kitchen cleaner.

Are you a COLLECTOR? What do you collect? Do you believe that your collection enhances your life or just adds clutter? Do you think that there is any correlation between home clutter, emotional clutter, and weight issues?

I collect book marks, those don't take up a lot of room. And I collect vintage camera's. They take up a bit of room but not much. I don't view those as clutter though because they make me happy. I have tons of scrap supplies, that has become clutter.
Yes I do feel that there is a correlation between home and emotional clutter and weight issues. I think the mental aspects of not having order in the home makes people shut down emotionally and those who have a tendency emotionally eat will do so to tamp down the overwhelming feelings.

Hi Everyone

I am back. Been a rough 6 weeks or so with illness, university, job issues including having to work 200 miles from home, an office building move and then a holiday!!! I now have a working computer at home, so can finally get back together with you guys.

Weight-wise, the past few weeks have taken their toll and I am up 8lbs from my lowest, and am really struggling to get back on plan. Doing good for breakfast and lunches, but have not been getting to my evening meals until 9:00pm.......by which time I just want some quick junk before bed.

I am soooo cold all of the time...guess the massive weight loss is the reason, but it's causing me some significant problems, including blue lips!!!!! (Have been checked out medically and I'm fine, just freaky looking!!)

Holiday last week was just what I needed, time to chill with OH, ate far too much choc and stuff but just wanted to let go for a while.

The good news is I am still running, although not since last Saturday as I twinged my left quad last weekend, so decided to take it easy this week, but will be back on the 5K course at 9:00 in the morning.

Looking forward to hanging out with you all again for inspiration and support. Off to read the thread from the beginning now.

Helen

I just wanted to say I have BLUE lips all the time when I am cold since loosing weight.. Matter of fact I had a few people ask me if I was ok on Saturday night at my son's Ice Hockey game - we were in a VERY cold arena.. so I took a selfie and low and behold my lips were soo blue :scared1: !

LOVE Downton Abbey! I'm going to skip the question because my hubs does alot of these jobs and I am a control freak sooo.. LOL

I collect stuff!!! OMG lots of stuff! I have an eeyore collection, I have a scrapbook collection - mostly of my Disney trips, and I am just a pack rat in general.. I can't help it.. haaa.. do I think it all goes together - maybe, I don't know..

Bleh, off topic.

Our dog Sugar (15.5 year old dachshund) took a huge turn for the worse this morning. She once again had paralysis in her hind legs, and in addition the doctor thought the hair loss might be a mrsa infection because it had started to get worse again. So we made the really hard decision to let her go. The vet was great and very supportive. I really felt like that was what he wanted us to do, because while we could treat her, she was just progressively getting sicker. It was just so hard, because she had a really great weekend and was very active and alert (well at least for her). It is so strange, because for the first time in over 25 years we don't have a pet. :sad2:

I did want to jump in and say good luck to everyone running this weekend. I wish you all a great race(s) and wonderful weather. :)

Morning all! Quick drive-by QOTD as I dash out the door for work. But I"ll be back after lunch (early release day today).

QOTD for Tuesday, February 18, 2014:

Do you take any kinds of vitamins or health supplements? It is something you decided to take or was it recommended by a health professional? If you don't, do you think you should? Or do they think they are a waste of money?

Oh Rose, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been there, and it sucks. Lots of hugs coming yours and Mike's way.

I take 5000 IU of Vitamin D a day, 5000 mg of Biotin and flaxseed oil for my skin and hair. After I had DD she did a number on my skin and hair. And I take the vitamin D to keep from getting sick. I do have a cold now but it's not as bad as everyone else at school.

I'm sorry the weekend was so hard. Sometimes it really stinks to be a grown-up, doesn't it?? Obviously things will happen as they are meant to. Perhaps all of this means that something FABULOUS is on the horizon for you.

Probably a toss up for me between Kitchen cleaner and bathroom cleaner - but that is only because my apartment doesn't have a dishwasher LOL If it did, bathroom cleaner all the way!

I'm with you on that!! THe month has FLOWN by and my weight is NOT where I want it to be! Enjoy the juice!

Love this saying!!

I'm glad to hear that your DD is getting new boots because maybe that means there won't be any more snow. ;) Safe travels! :flower3:

Actually we never found any boots that fit right. So she will have to struggle through these next many weeks with leaky boots. She does have some basic winter snow boots that are in good shape, but they aren't as "fashionable" to wear around campus all day. She only wears them if it is actively storming.

Not really a collector but still have too much stuff. DH is determined to get down to where everything we own can fit on a golf cart by retirement. :lmao:

:lmao: I don't know ANYONE who doesn't think that they could downsize, at least a bit.

SO very, very sorry that Sugar is gone. I know you have been trying hard to get her healthy and active again. It must seem very quiet at your place now. Did you call DS and tell him? That must have been a very difficult call.

****************

Okay friends... the snow has really started flying here. We are dismissing at noon. I made the decision to cancel my WW meeting for tonight as well.

Sadly, tonight was to be the first and last practice night for DS's robotics team. They finally got the robot finished and running on Sunday and were supposed to have a chance to use it on a practice field tonight, but since all evening school activities have been cancelled, the practice had to be cancelled. And tonight is "bag and tag" night... the night that the robot has to be officially "hands off" until the competition next week. Mother Nature really threw our team (and I'm sure many local teams) for a loop this year. This is when the home-schooled teams and the club teams (not school affiliated) have an advantage...they don't have to follow these kinds of rules.

If anyone is so inclined, I would love some prayers coming for DS's travels tonight and for the next 10 days while he is in Costa Rica. The snow should be done by the time they gather at the school at 1:50 am tomorrow morning and they should be fine for an early a.m. flight from Boston. And I did get his suitcase 99% packed up last night.... just a few last minute things to add (things he had to use today).

I am not currently scheduled to work the rest of the week here at school, but I anticipate I could be called. DD wants me to come visit again on Friday and take her to a local museum that she is supposed to visit for a class. I'll make that decision later this week.

I "should" have TM time tonight, since all of my activities were cancelled, so I'll commit to that!!

Off to grab my group from (shortened) art!...........P

Hey. Popping in for the first time in a while. Been busy and a bit tired. Traveling cross country will do that to a person! We get to California today. I get to hopefully renew my Annual Pass tonight. And then spend some time at Disney. Will be interesting. Haven't spend time in the park since I started liquids.

As for the QOTD. I have daily vitamins since I am having my surgery. Its kind of required. I have a multi-vitamin. A calcium supplement, a b-12, and a weekly vitamin d pill. Everything but one of those is chewable (the weekly is swallowable). I think its up to the person but it kind of gets tiresome to remember to take them all some times I'll admit.

Also is there any reason for why the weight loss post hasn't been updated. I've lost a lot more than 5% of my goal weight.

But you will have a chef around pretty soon, at least during school breaks, right? How goes the school search? Is it definitely going to be J&W?

I think he is doing community college for 2 years then either J&W PVD or Denver for 2 years, or UMASS Amherst, or Indiana State University. UMASS and ISU both have sports and nutrition programs.
I'm pushing for Manchester Community College (my Manchester, not yours LOL) because they do culinary and the cost is the same as the other Community College, which would be general studies. And I saw kids from Manchester at Food and Wine festival, which I know he wants to do.

Ack! Had too many tabs open and poofed myself! :lmao:

Rose, so sorry to hear about Sugar. :flower3: Big  to you and Mike.

Buffy, pixiedust: that germs go away quickly and for safe travels. Can't wait to see you soon! :yay:

Pamela, thanks for coaching this week! :flower3:

Catch up when I return and will try to post from WDW. princess:

Thanks Lisa! I feel ok for a bit and then I'm all congested again. I hate it.
And I'm stalking the weather. Accuweather has dropped the temp for Sunday to 75, I hope they are right!

Sounds like a good plan. We are hoping that DS sticks closer to home for the first two years as well. Our local Technical school has a 2 year degree in robotics that might be a perfect fit for him to get started. But we'll see. He definitely talks about being AWAY at school.

Pamela, thanks for coaching this week! :flower3:

Of course you are SO welcome!!

Catch up when I return and will try to post from WDW. princess:

Hugs and prayers for safe travels, fast legs, and of course, best of luck to you, BAMB, and all our "Princess" friends!!!

*****************

Evening all! Well... the snow just doesn't want to stop! I think we got nearly 12" since it started about 7 am, and it still continues to fall! It was supposed to slow down after 5pm :confused3 DS is still scheduled to be at the school at 1:50 am and his flight is still on schedule for leaving Boston early in the a.m. Prayers that nothing changes that!

His suitcase and carry-on are fully packed and ready to go, his passport, cash, meds, epi-pen, etc are appropriately loaded up, he has had some dinner, and we will snuggle up for a little while before he takes "tomorrow's" shower and we settle down for (hopefully) some naps before we head out. He is traveling straight through the night and day, so I thought he would feel MUCH BETTER if he showered and put on a fresh change of clothes tonight, even though it is essentially going to be an "all-nighter".

Dinner was a bit of this and that for all of us, since I had nothing scheduled since the men were supposed to be at robotics all night.

Off to check FB and finish up my veggie burger...................P

Rose, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is always hard! I hope you will be able to keep lots of wonderful memories with Sugar in your heart!

WOFTD, your weekend sounds truly horrible! But I am so impressed that you still seem to be able to keep up your exercise routine somewhat! How impressive! Hope the future brings many truly great weekends for you!

Lisa and Buffy and all other runners: Good luck, have a great run!!!

My knee is not improving as quickly as it should, it now got a surface infection. Not really bad, but not good either. So I am still not able to do a lot.

At least my eating is under control and I hope to finally have a first loss for the month this Friday! Will be far from my February goal, but given the circumstances, I think I will be happy anyway! :goodvibes

I wish I had more energy to hang out here more and post, but at the moment I can really tell how much energy my body needs for healing as I don't have much left...

I admit I am a Ideal Protein drop out. I couldn't maintain their plan while training for the long distances. However, it works so I will be picking it back up as soon as we get back. What I like about it is that there are phases. Phase one is hard! It's mostly their food, but as you go up in phases it brings in more real food and less of their food.

Just popping in to say hey!! Headed for the airport around 2. I will post when we land.

I hope everyone has a great week and weekend!!

Hi everyone! Sorry for my absence. I was waiting on a job offer that I really thought I had, and was ready to pop on here and announce it, but of course, I haven't heard anything yet. Still optimistic about it, but essentially, it is back to the drawing board, so to speak.

Thank you to everyone for all of the hugs and well wishes - things have been looking up. I realized I really just needed a project that wasn't so emotionally straining. Finding a job and facing rejection isn't as fun as it sounds haha So, my dad's 70th birthday is coming up next month and since he hates the idea of getting older and what it means, I've decided to create a book - 70 Years of Memories - to remind him how many lives he has touched over his many years. It gives me a project and I think its a good idea (thank you, Pinterest!)!!

Good luck to all those racing this weekend! I know you will all do awesome!!!

R&M So sorry to hear about Sugar. Sending best wishes to you and your family through what must be a very difficult time.

Do you take any kinds of vitamins or health supplements? It is something you decided to take or was it recommended by a health professional? If you don't, do you think you should? Or do they think they are a waste of money?

I take a One-A-Day Women's vitamin with lunch and a B-12 supplement every morning. I happen to have a B-12 deficiency, which means I am very sensitive to cold temperatures (even in the summer, you'll always find me with a jacket), and don't have as much energy as most without these lovely supplements. B-12 was prescribed by my doctor, and the One-A-Day's just make me feel good. I don't know what it is, or if it is just a placebo effect, but I do feel stronger taking them on a regular basis.

If anyone is so inclined, I would love some prayers coming for DS's travels tonight and for the next 10 days while he is in Costa Rica. Hope everything went smoothly yesterday and that your DS is nice and safe in warm temperatures!!

I get to hopefully renew my Annual Pass tonight. And then spend some time at Disney. Will be interesting. Haven't spend time in the park since I started liquids.

Good for you! And WTG on traveling cross country! I loved my road trip, but I can't imagine doing it on liquids! :worship:

Also is there any reason for why the weight loss post hasn't been updated. I've lost a lot more than 5% of my goal weight.

I'm sure Amanda just hasn't gotten around to it - its been a crazy month for all of us, it seems!

WW all the way! It helped me last year to get down 15 pounds, and so far it has given me amazing results in conjunction with exercise this year. I chose it because of its flexibility and because I don't punish myself for slipping up. I love charts and graphs, and WW lets me see my progress every step up the way - even when it is very little, it still looks like a lot! :)
