Thanks! We did have a great trip as always! It is a very strange disease!I'm glad you had a good time on your trip and that they fixed your resort problem so quickly.
It is a really strange disease. My favorite great uncle had it.
Yes! We love POR! It's our fav moderate. Grounds are beautiful. Just love strolling along the river paths. Rooms are comfortable, we only have 2-3 people in the room, depending on if 1 or both daughters come. And love the extras, boat to DTD, and evening entertainment. Something I wish more resorts had. Food court is good too. Love the Pasta and salad bar!! In the morning it's an omelette bar!Sue Welcome home! Sorry about the dirty room, but glad they fixed it promptly! Overall, did you like POR?
Thanks!! Looking forward to August too!Hi Magic! Sorry that work is on over load .. but oh love your take on multi tasking LOL (Now I have an excuse )
Thank you guys. And to all that may remember, my mom has Parkinson's which has been progressing over the last year or two, and it has prompted her move from assisted living to memory care. It's sad to see. We took a weekend trip at the end of January and although my mom does stiill recognize us, there is more mumbling and she is less coherent than 3 months ago. Seeing this, makes me me very thankful for the trips we shared over the last 4 years.
Welcome back Lacey! That's great that you had an amazing time on the cruise (and the land part too!) And we want the whole scoop!!
Jen, hope the car issues will turn out to be minor. And for strapping on the undies!! You can do it again (you do have days of the week panties, right?!
Wookie, so sad and devastating for the families and classmates of these young ladies. This brings home that we should live each day fully and make sure the people we care and love, know it.
And ladies, you all amazing and I'm so thankful to have you in my life.
Sue!! Welcome back! Today as I was driving home from work you popped into my mind and I hoped to see you posting soon on your trip. So cool you got to meet up with some CM friends. I'm so looking forward to August, to meet up with you and other RCers.
Sue In her way so is communicating. This is how I look at it when my mom was mumbling this past trip. The memories and thoughts and speech are trapped inside - I believe she knows you were there.
Yes, I do believe on some level she did know I was there. Such a sad disease.
Glad you had a great trip (other than room issue) and are home safe and sound... now to plan for the next!
Janet and Sue I am so sorry you have to deal with such a hard situation. There is nothing like seeing a once spry and strong slowly retreat into themselves and suffer with such debilitating issues. My step-dad's mom is going through Alzheimer's and dementia right now and it's just devastating: she no longer remembers me or my husband and has it in her head that we (with her son) are against her so we minimize any visits, which is gut-wrenching for my step-dad. He feels like he's neglecting her but doesn't want to cause added stress. I also dealt with this with my father's parents and my mom's dad started to go through similar before passing... just makes me appreciate the amazing lives they led and am grateful for the time we had. One bright thing is that my mom's mom is showing signs of dementia but pictures of my DD's seem to help her focus so I love sending boku pictures to try and help - required bragging!
to everyone who is going through this... and don't keep your emotions bottled up - it is so hard to see and so hard to handle and sometimes you just need to talk about it!!! One great thing about all your girls - you're such a good sounding board and support group!
there are people who can get better deals than the mil rate??? Where have I been??? How do I find such sorcery???
DRIVE SAFE!!!
We have turned over to sleet now after a good 3-4" of snow... so now we have a slushy mess that is freezing over in spots. Supposed to turn back to snow in a few hours. BLEH! DH is on the phone now trying to find out if he has to go in -- PLEASE NO!!! Save me from the children! -- but I'm grateful to have less of an impact: my mom, about an hour north of us, is supposed to get upwards of 12 inches Not good for a state that goes bonkers when we get 1"!!!
STAY WARM everyone, *HUGS* to anyone who needs one and think for all!
Thank you! It's is surprising how many are affected by Alzheimer's.
Nice!! Love your pics!
Have a great trip!Awwww. I agree 100%. I am thinking of you and SueM both. My Dad is very early stages. His Mom lived with Alzeimers 'til her upper 90s. Hoping Dad is spared this same fate.
Koh1977, yes we have logged many, many POR August trips. We love that resort like no other... well, except for CR and maybe a few other assorted Deluxes.

Tomorrow, we are "leaving Dodge" for Daytona for the Saturday night race. On the way, we are taking Mom to GF Cafe for Valentine's Day lunch, and a spin around her favorite monorail to her favorite resort, CR, for a little shopping and Castle eye candy. Then a relaxing evening at Daytona, and Fan Zone at the track before the race Saturday. Company will be in town all next week. So, next time you hear from me I will be a certified MAD WOMAN with juggling all the work that will be awaiting my return and my visitors needs.
My mom is 83. I know what you mean about hopes that your dad doesn't have to suffer till 90 with it. And so hard on the family watching your loved one slipping away. It took me a long time to come to terms with it.
POR did do a wonderful job of handling our situation. This was our 4 th stay there. Will prob be back next January! This Aug. It's Poly
