The Mauro's Magical Disney Vacation on Food Network

I was just excited to see something NEW on about WDW. Some of those shows on the Travel Channel are SO old... . I enjoyed it. :goodvibes

That is exactly what I thought! It is fun to see something recent..I can even forgive their little mistakes! pixiedust:

did he call 'Fantasmic' Fantastic instead? I rewound it a couple times and that's what it kept sounding like :)

Provided you believe F! has the wicked queen from Cinderella featured.

Yes!! We caught that too! How could they not catch that in editing!?

And the kid and Grandpa went swimming at AKL while Mom and Dad were eating at Sanaa. Even though they are staying at GF.

How about the non-existent line at BOG when they walked up and went right to their table? :rotfl:

Wonder who lost the Chef's table that night at V&A? Or if they just did a special late night table for him and the wife? Since they did their dinner after Fantasmic.

We also laughed about the lack of lines, especially at Toy Story! and also wondered who lost their night at the Chef's Table since it's always booked, and how much they were compensated to give it up :thumbsup2

It's on again right now and I just rewound that part. We normally pronounce it Fantazmic (with the /as/ sounding like the word as) and he said Fantasmic (with the /as/ sounding like the word a**) which made it sound more like Fantastic.

It's all in the editing, folks. :) I got the impression they were staying at the AKL but I may have missed them say otherwise.

Also, I'm going to guess that they did not boot anyone out of Victoria and Alberts. I bet they served them really early or really late (I would guess really early) or the other option that this has been slotted out since before reservation windows opened.

If they ate lunch just as the BOG was supposed to close between lunch and dinner, there would have been no lines.

The time lines didn't really add up for the attractions but that is editing. I'm guessing they were there for much longer than the 3 or 4 days that they were edited to show.

All this aside, I really liked seeing a new WDW show. As a PP said, all the other shows are way out of date. And this show got me excited for our trip in less than 30 days!

We leave in 9 days, so it was super exciting for me, regardless of inconsistencies! I even made the girls watch with me (3 & 6)!

Not having tv of any sort, I found this show on the Food Network site and watched online. I noticed they eat like "tv families"- all squished on one side of the table. :lmao: And I like how they "got lucky" and got a Disney animal expert on their safari ride.

Overall, fun to some of what WDW looks like. Makes me excited to see it for real this summer!

I would think it was in the morning or early afternoon, definitely well before they open. I suspect it was very shortly after the segment where he was in the kitchen since it was obvious that was not a full staff in the kitchen and when they were eating the camera was positioned where you could not see the food preparation area except reflected in the window/mirror. They probably only prepared the two dishes that they showed being served. I seriously doubt that V&A would let a camera crew interfere with their service.

I think they also taped the meal at CG before it re-opened. It was way too quiet while they were eating there and the people at the bar and walking around looked too much like staff members than people actually eating there. ;)

Why couldn't Jeff use a Photo Pass Photographer to take the family picture in front of the castle?

I actually wondered that, too, lol!!

And I was so puzzled as to why they were all wearing MB's, but scanned their card instead?? That was driving me crazy.

Other than that, I enjoyed it. But then again, I'll watch anything that shows me WDW. :)

That could be. And why do you suppose they never even showed what a fantastic view CG has?? I thought that was strange. But I was excited to see that their waitress was Mo, who was our waitress when we were there in December. :) I was like, "Hey! I know her!!". Lol.

Obviously he was trying to double dip fastpass which was why they were able to get on toy story so easily! :lmao:

We really enjoyed the show but were kind of hoping that since it was on Food Network there would be more food showcased. My girls (7 and 9) were just watching and screaming "do we have to wait until AUGUST?!?!" :rotfl2:

And yes, the TSMM line had a standby wait of 15 minutes....DH said "on what planet?!?" :rotfl:

It was good though. I was also of the impression that they were staying at AKL.

If for no other reason, you know this special was fake and completely scripted when you saw people actually *enjoying* Chef Mickey's. :rotfl:

I thought the same thing about the view! Why would you not show one of the coolest things about the restaurant?

My 6 yr old picked up on the error about the witch in Fantasmic! I can't believe that made it through both script editing and production editing.

I liked seeing something new, but it was fluffier than I expected. Guy Fieri's look at Disneyland food a few years ago was much better.

I agree about the fluff. As much as I love watching anything relating to Disney (old or new,) I get a little tired of all the 'celebrity' specials that show all their surprise magic moments and backstage perks. I want to see REAL things that REAL people do, but I guess Disney knows if they only showed reality it wouldn't be as much of a seller.
