***NEW MyMagic & FastPass+ Official Information & FAQ Thread***

Just got back today from a week at WDW. Stayed at AKL using DVC points, purchased UT tickets, which we linked to bands on MDE, set up FP+ ahead of time, etc.

A few thoughts based on our experience:
- Like DWJoshua, we had a good experience with the bands, i.e. no issues and were easy to use for park entry, charging, FP+ entrances, etc.
- We also didn't have any issues with the FP+ selections, including changing selections and times on the fly for a couple of them.
- The MDE app was very helpful, especially with changing FP+ selections and times.
- We combined our preferences with the priority list posted here to determine what FP+ to select. I didn't catch that there are certain attractions that only utilize FP+, i.e. no FP-, as indicated by the * in mesaboy's priority list. It didn't affect us all that much except when we wanted to pull FP- for some of those attractions so that we could ride again but weren't able to. I'm just pointing this out for others trying to decide what FP+ to choose.
- Because we bought UT tickets and were staying at AKL, we assumed we would be able to triple dip with FP, using FP+ as well as UT tickets and KTTW cards for FP-. However, the FP- machines would not let us use the UT tickets for FP-, as we received a message (on the FP- ticket) that said, "This ticket was not used for park entry (or something similar)." We did use our bands for entry but, as I mentioned, we linked the UT tickets to our bands, and I thought (based on reading other posts previously) this would allow UT tickets to be used for FP-...but they didn't work for us.
- That said, we had no issues using our KTTW cards for FP-.
- In addition, this week (the week before Christmas) was a great week to go to WDW, as the crowds were relatively light, depending on the park, time of day, and area of a given park.
- BTW, if you arrive for a FP+ attraction that you scheduled and the standby wait is short, i.e. short enough where you don't mind waiting, don't forget to use the MDE app and try and change your FP+ selection to something else before you scan your band. You may not be able to get anything else, but it's worth a shot since your FP+ is basically offering no value at that point.

I've been trying to change my FP+'s for one of the days of my vacation and now that day shows five experiences and one of them isn't even right. I'm so confused why it's keeping some of my old experiences and letting me add new ones. Maybe I'm picking the wrong way to change times?

There is clearly a problem with the itineraries portion of MDE. I made FP+ selections for my January trip and the itineraries are totally messed up, which kind of makes me nervous. However, when I go into Fastpass+ to make any changes, it does show my correct choices.

Maybe this has been asked already, but we're going to WDW Jan. 17. We already have all of our MagicBands and all of our FP+ are scheduled. However, we're thinking of moving some things around. Can I change reservations and FP+ now or do I have to wait til we're in the park/on property to make changes?

You can and should change them now. :goodvibes

When you customize the magicbands to include your name, where is the name printed? Is it visible on the outside of the band or not visible when being worn (on the inside of the band). Also if your party includes children under 3 do they also get a band and can they get fastpass+ tickets?
Thanks.

The names are printed on the inside of the band. Nobody can see it. I'm not sure about bands for children under 3 though.

Children under 3 also get a MagicBand. However, they do not require a ticket and thus cannot get Fastpass+ - but they don't need it. They can enter the line with an adult who does.

Question: If I have a FP+ planned, but I miss the timeblock, can I reschedule it for later in the day? Or am I simply out that FP for the day?

You can reschedule for the same or different attraction, subject to availability.

I'm sure this has been asked before but since I'm leaving at 5:00 am I figured it's quickest to just ask here:

How do you change your FP+ to a different park on the MDE website? It turns out we'll be starting out at Epcot, not MK.

Thanks!

--Edit--- I found the cancel button! I'm in the day before trip panic obviously!

Can someone help me please, because I'm reading info that conflicts with what I was told by the CM on the phone today while booking. Not that I don't trust "Lourdes", but I trust people here a bit more.

We're booked at the WL in mid-March. I did not want Magic Bands. Dr. Jekyll is coming with us this time and if those bands malfunction he will throw a Hyde fit and ruin the day faster than you can say Stitch. I was told that if I didn't get Magic Bands I couldn't participate in FP+. Conversely, if I chose FP+ I am ineligible for regular FP. She specifically said that no double dipping was allowed. I begrudgingly chose the band's, and was encouraged to make my FP+ choices immediately. What she neglected to tell me is that since we are military and purchase Salute tickets and don't have them yet, I can't actually make any ride reservations until I do. So, really, I might as well have kept my KTTW option.

This turned into more of a rant than a question, sorry about that. Really, the question is do you HAVE to have the magic bands to participate in FP+? And the CM kept saying that the regular FP that are available, she used Space Mountain as an example, are based on how many time slots have been taken by FP+ participants already. So, in her example, I could be the first person through at rope drop, run back to the FP kiosk, and have the first available FP time be for 8pm that night. Is that correct?

First, take what someone on the phone says with a grain of salt. Most don't know how things are really operating in the park.

Second, take anything said here with a grain of salt. There is how it is supposed to work, how it works _now_, and how it will work in the future, and they may all be different.

You aren't supposed to be required to get MagicBands. You are supposed to be able to opt for an RFID card that will work it its place for 90% of applications, including Fastpass+. However, recent experience at POP shows that they were being very hard-nosed about people using MagicBands, making it difficult at least and in some cases outright refusing to give cards.

If you DO get a card, it will work for everything except things that require the active transmitter. We don't know what those are yet, if they are even utilized at this time. It won't affect any functions that you actually need, however.

Right now, only guests at the Value resorts (perhaps not including AoA - I don't remember) cannot get Fastpass in addition to Fastpass+. That is expected to spread to all resorts, but it is unknown on what schedule. We may see changes in the next week or so though.

At Animal Kingdom, there ARE no Fastpasses now. It's all Fastpass+.

Has anybody done the FP+ at the Animal Kingdom, Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost? I'm wondering which characters are there. TIA

Two questions...1) Ariel's Grotto in MK, FP+ only? 2)at AK, has anybody done the meet the disney pals at adventurers outpost with FP+? If so, who was there?
