Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

letthewookiewin - I was so relieved she was able to get the extra two weeks! I had my littlest 8 weeks early (totally unexpected because oldest was a 42 weeker - they had to pry her out!) and I know that twins are even harder when they come early. Luckily, everyone is happy and healthy and mom is still sane!

I had out oldest DS 8 weeks early. He weighed in at 4 lbs and is now close to 6 ft at 16.

So relieved DD is on meds! She had such a great week at school - didn't get in trouble once and was just floating off the bus when she got home! She had started to get down on herself for always getting talked to about her outbursts and talking in class, so it was great to see such a giddy DD! :cool1:

I'm happy to hear she had a better week at school. Hopefully, they will be like that from now on.

A cruise is great for 20th anniversary! I'm trying to convince DH but we're waiting to see how orders play out (if we end up moving to Florida, cruise would be A LOT easier!). If your sister moves to the DC area, there's a ton of stuff to do: I grew up outside DC and we're stationed near it now! Love going into the city for a quick day trip!

I heard a rumor that cruise dates for 2015 are a little delayed because of figuring out logistics on ports of call. Don't know details but I guess there is talk of a refurb of Wonder and tweaking sailings for the rest of the fleet... hoping they announce soon: a good friend is looking for a DCL wedding for '15!

Well, the DH is sold on a cruise for the 20th anniversary, but he doesn't want to do Disney. He wants to do one out of NOLA or Galveston, since we live in Texas and those are the closest ports. I need to book it as soon as they come out because our anniversary is close to July 4th and I want a balcony. Plus for some reason, I get worried when thinking about booking a cruise without going through a TA. As soon as I can get the DH more on board with the idea of a Disney cruise, I'll email Dreams Unlimited about getting a quote and information on booking a cruise with them.

I am so ready for the holidays to start! Our oldest is starting to figure out the Santa thing, so this is probably our last year with her and she fell in love with Frozen so I'm thrilled I preemptively bought some goodies when they were on sale before the movie came out!!! And it's always fun to have a tiny one at Christmas who would rather play with bows than with toys. :santa:

The funny thing is, the DH is happy the boys don't believe in Santa. We still do Santa gifts for them, but it isn't their biggest gift any more like it was when they believed. This year, for instance, their biggest gift is a shared gift of a XBOX One. Santa will give them each a game for it. We'll give them at least one game with the console.

I go tomorrow to see the doctor about my hip surgery. I feel guilty pushing for it ASAP, but it works better with DH's schedule and if it gets pushed back too long, I'll be doing Disney with a cane AGAIN... nothing against it, but I want to ride the E-ticket rides!!! Last trip was 8 weeks post-op and I couldn't do Big Thunder, Space, or RnR. I pushed myself to do ToT and Splash but overdid it a bit. On the bright side, our friend who is going with us is getting pumped and starting to get sucked into the Disney magic so we're having fun making plans!!!

:grouphug: to everyone and have a great workup to the New Year!!!

I don't blame you. I would want to get it done asap as well. I hope the doctor's apt goes well tomorrow.

Even though I have been trying to teach him the right way to teach a girl he likes, there is nothing like being scared of the dad to help remind him.

When I was growing up, even boys that were friends, my dad would just happen to be cleaning guns or his huge Bowie knife when they came over. My dad has a lot of guns. Everything from a couple of handguns to an elephant rifle.
:rotfl: Sounds like my DH with the guns....he shall survive, and you're raising him right! We need more gentlemen these days!

pas130 - lol, it feels greedy to have two rezzies but I just can't settle! Everytime I convince myself to go one way, a little bug gets buzzing about the other. And then I'll get a wild hare that I need to TOTALLY change! :rotfl:

Totally get it! I have my Universal vacation that I can change to avoid changing my Poly one :lmao:
So relieved DD is on meds! She had such a great week at school - didn't get in trouble once and was just floating off the bus when she got home! She had started to get down on herself for always getting talked to about her outbursts and talking in class, so it was great to see such a giddy DD! :cool1:
Good luck today at the doctor  And that's GREAT to hear your DD is doing better!!!

Love the change Jeanette!! Although I wonder how Poly will be with all the construction. But it is still the Poly. :-)

Seeing exactly where the construction will be and kinda knowing what to expect helps. The grounds of the Poly will help it feel less intrusive..And that Poly CL punch will help float the construction concerns away. Plus DS5 LOVES construction equipment  My issue with staying GF during construction was it would be the Main Building and spending a pretty penny....I basically calculated out my discount on the room (with the upgrade) its around 50% off. So I will never get a better deal...need to stick:goodvibes

So far behind! Haven't had a chance to catch up, but wanted to stop by and say hi!

Janet, :banana::banana: Happy Birthday!

 Hello to my dear friends from Chilly and coooooold Alberta!! looks like I missed the worst of it last week, basking in 85 Degree record-breaking Florida weather while my family froze in -45 degree -- YES that was MINUS 45 degree weather in Alberta!!! it hurt to come off the plane! in more ways than one, :lmao:
Firstly, my body was so sore and achy from all the walking and the jam-packed week, walking was painful! If I still had to do another 3 days at Universal like I usually do with the family, I truly don't know how I could have done it! I need a vacation from my vacation and have come to the conclusion that Disney is not a vacation, it's very physical and demanding, and not really relaxing when you are out at the parks and busy until midnight every day!!!

Dawn and I had a great time, and truly enjoyed Janet and Rosie's company! Meeting up with our Deena, and our sweet Melissa was extra - special too! I wish I could have met up with you Jeanette, and am very sad I missed you, but one of these days we will be destined to meet, I am sure!

I truly enjoyed my time, POFQ was nice and great for what we needed, but I have made up my mind I am definitely a deluxe loving gal, and will only stay deluxe in the future, even if I have to save longer to afford it. I don't really know when I'll be back again, this trip took alot out of me, and so much of it had to be scheduled, for the first time ever I didn't do RocknRoller coaster (missed my FP time) , didn't do Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain or Big Thunder mountain, nor Pirates of the Carribean! We did see lots of shows, and did do some of my favourites, but I found myself seriously running out of time and wishing it was the old way with paper fast pass as the ride lines where quite long. It was also very busy, busier than I enjoy. I think my favourite time of the year is January to go to Disney!

My last night in Disney we didn't get back to our room until about 12:30pm and by the time I had packed, it was 2 am --then something must not have sat well with me because I ended up in the bathroom sicker than a dog, I haven't been that sick in a couple years!!! Definitely must have been a bout of food poisoning because as quick as it came, it was over! it wasn't pleasant though!

I am not sure when I'll get back again because with my youngest son in Grade 12, and perhaps joining the military, I can see us very busy over the next year or 2 trying to get him on his life course :)

My hubby and I talked and we said , perhaps our next vacation will be somewhere truly relaxing, like Turks and Caicos/ so I can come back refreshed instead of in agony, LOL!!! sounds like something I would be willing to look into, I've heard Sandals is a great experience for couples!

While I was gone all heck broke out in our house!!! My hubby got the call for his second hand surgery/ joint replacement the day I left for Florida.... he was in Surgery on the Thursday DEC 5! Also on the 3rd when I left, my hubby got a call from the local hospital, my oldest son whose electrician apprenticing got his finger caught in a drill and broke it!!! So everyone had to make due without mom to help! Allan is home recovering from his joint replacement, and we are hoping the new year brings success and better news for his recovery!

Well, it's about home time, I need to close down the office, so I'll sign off for now, but wanted to stop by and say HI  to my favourite ladies....
Hope you are all having a Terrific Tuesday!!

Marie
Wow Marie, so much going on at home while you were away! Glad you enjoyed POFQ. We were in bldg 4 last January and loved that location. Didn't you stay at Riverside too?
Yikes! So glad I'm in BC, lol. We think it's the end of the world when we hit -5 c lol! I'm sure you remember!!! But now we're back to the regularly scheduled program, rain!

Hope everyone at home is recovering and doing well.

Hello all RCers!:grouphug:

I have been trying to catch up but AHHHH, life! Wanted to say WELCOME BACk :cheer2: to those recently returned and YAY, ENJOY to those about to go!!!

Sorry I have been AWOL - I had a friend go on emergency bedrest at 32 weeks pregnant with twins and needed help with her 2 1/2 year old so I have been trying to help her out as well as keep my two kiddos stuff going. Luckily, she managed to hold on for another 2 1/2 weeks and delivered a healthy baby girl and boy.
Eldest DD is finishing swim lessons and starting tap on top of taekwondo so we're just a bit pinched for time. Good news is we had her tested and she is borderline ADHD but they observed some anxiety issues so we just started her on a medication to help control the anxiety and as a great side effect should help her focus. *fingers crossed* it helps - we're trying to get her on a good path before my surgery so we're not just compounding the stress.

On the Disney front, I have to confess I have been holding onto two reservations for our trip :rolleyes1 - one at WL and one at SoG. DH wants me to surrender the SoG rezzie but I'm having such a hard time... it's so much savings! But it's not Disney!!!

Hope to have some down time this weekend
Your friend sure is lucky to have you! Glad she delivered a healthy baby. I had to be on strict bed rest too, but during my 3rd month, with my 2nd baby! My husband had to take time off work.

Hope meds will help DD! I'm trying to catch up on everyone's news! So much hoping on with everyone.
I have to admit a soft spot for WL!

Hi RCers :santa: I just wanted to pop in and say hello. Busy busy around here to be sure.

I hope you guys all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We spent it in the NC mtns. We woke up to snow on our first morning there which made this gal very happy. :thumbsup2. We got back to FL, dropped off the Christmas tree at home and basically turned and burned over to WDW for a few days. It was a very busy WDW trip since we had 2 different sets of family to visit at WDW. I was glad to at least get to give a quick HI to JanetB and Rosie one night. I wish I could have met more of you guys, but time didn't permit.

Crowds were pretty good for us. Magic Bands worked for us only about 50% of the time. And boy-oh-boy do I feel sorry for CMs manning the attraction lines... definitely a thankless job right now with all the Magic Band issues. :duck::duck:

Before we arrived, our travel partners were Magically upgraded free-of-charge to a different resort (a deluxe :wizard:) than POR like we all planned. So since we wouldn't all be together, we decided the day before we checked in to do a big ole RC and move to POP and save some pennies. And we are glad we did. After a less than stellar ASmu visit last month, POP has restored our faith in the joys of Value resort stays again. POP rocks! :cool1:

We are going to sneak over for the day this weekend to DTD again. Then when my DB flies in for his Christmas visit, we are reserved at POP again Dec 20 to show him some Christmas cheer. We have a Candlelight Pkg with Trace Atkins at Coral Reef. I am curious to try this restaurant after so many poor reviews. :listen: Also, our new Bands arrived in the mail yesterday for next week. I am really hoping we have better results this next time.

Time to make my ticker for March. Take care. :grouphug:
Oooooo, Trace Atkins!! Sounds great! We ate at Coral Reef and enjoyed it. Had a table right in front of the Aquarium where the turtle likes to hang out. We all enjoyed our meals. The only thing was there was a family or group who just let their kids roam free, and they were usually right behind our chairs plastered against the aquarium. Hard to enjoy our meals and talk with a bunch of kids around our table not too quietly enjoying the aquarium. :(

Iheart: have a safe a magical trip!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

HELLO ALL! The forecast for today called for rain, so of course it's snowing tonight... I love Maryland!

I had out oldest DS 8 weeks early. He weighed in at 4 lbs and is now close to 6 ft at 16.

That's awesome!!! Our little Peanut had a slow start (she wasn't a fan of milk or formula!) but now is starting to work her way back onto the actual age weight tables. I do love a chunker, so it's great to see her getting that sweet baby fat! So glad your son turned out great, too -- it's been very nerve wracking ((especially since oldest DD was a 42 weeker!))

I'm happy to hear she had a better week at school. Hopefully, they will be like that from now on.

So far so good on this week, too! She's just so happy when she can come home and say "no numbers!" She also had a positive report on her weekly behavior chart (usually there's something about needing reminders but last Friday it was "did a great job this week!") So great to see her pride!!!

*fingers crossed* I would love a Disney Cruise but I TOTALLY understand your hesitation!!!

This year, for instance, their biggest gift is a shared gift of a XBOX One. Santa will give them each a game for it. We'll give them at least one game with the console.

LOL - that's how DH feels. Last year our parents went overboard for DD so between that and Santa, Mom and Dad got credit for 3 small gifts. This year Santa managed to find the Frozen Palace for 50% off so she will get that big gift, but mom and dad are giving the dolls ((I want SOME credit!!!))

I don't blame you. I would want to get it done asap as well. I hope the doctor's apt goes well tomorrow.

Good luck today at the doctor  And that's GREAT to hear your DD is doing better!!!

Thanks guys!!!
Appointment went well!!! Youngest was cleared of her apnea of prematurity (she's been good for months but I guess she had to go X-amount of time before officially being cleared) and I have a surgery date for next month!!! So excited to get this done and stay on top of things and that gives me boku time to get prepped for Disney. Plus, as DH pointed out, I can use my down time to start figuring out ADRs and schedules!!! :cool1:

Thanks so much! I am sorry to hear about your bed rest experience but I know it's always worth it in the end -- just beyond mind-numbing as the days drag on! I was on modified bed rest with oldest because I was asthmatic and we were in Hawaii with no A/C so I was allowed to do minimal things... and as I went overdue, the list got smaller and smaller. I can't imagine doing it more than the 4 weeks I had!!! Mommas are troopers!!!

I do think we'll end up at WL and I am definitely okay with it... but the RCer in me HAS to keep looking around! :rotfl: I appreciate your experience with Coral Reef... it's on our 'might do' list and it seems so mixed with responses... great to hear from a like-minded person :)

---------------------------------------------------------------

Safe travels to all those heading down or heading back and hope everyone has a great lead up to the craziness of the next two weeks! I'm looking forward to finally getting a chance to sit down and hope to catch up, but until then *~* HUGS *~* to all!!! :grouphug:

:woohoo: See? Friday the 13th is magical!! :cool1: awesome!!! Now maybe I should email Angela ...... :upsidedow
::yes:: Time to plan summer....maybe at Sam's dream resort (although I don't know how dreamy the construction will be) But you can lock in the discount!! BTW what BB did you book??

Thanks guys!!!

 Just checking in to say Hi!

Have a great trip I_heart :goodvibes

Feeling a little better today but still feel lousy

I can't wait until we're at the point when we can pack- the countdown's slowing down a little again now that we've got all the planning done :(

Still, Christmas will come and go, and soon we'll be at 1 month to go, then 9 days.

Not sure if this is the right spot, but I could sure use some reassurance about now! Had a reservation at AoA for several months, crunched the numbers and with the SPD promo saving us $1600 :scared1: at Pop Century it was a no brainer to change...HOWEVER, I fear that we're going to really be missing the room we had in the AoA suites and I haven't had any warm fuzzies reading many reviews. Anyone stayed and just loved Pop? We're a family of five with one in a pack and play, DD's 11 and 4, and DH and I.

Also to suggest the OP checks out Janet's Pop Rockin' thread!!! :thumbsup2:hippie:

Got this little package in the mail today for our August trip! So exciting!

I'm gonna try to get caught up.....we are so stinking busy!!! But, the kids and I have a half day tomorrow and then we are off until 1/2/14!!!! :dance3:

Plus my DMIL flies in on Saturday, so basically free babysitting for the next week!!!:cheer2:
