the sound of music live

I don't watch much tv and I was going to be negative with my comments, but after I read a few, I decided too that the show is a whole lot better than the crime shows that I do not like. Kudos to NBC for bringing a live stage show to night time television. I really have no idea who Carrie Underwood is, since I do not listen to country, but she sure is trying hard.

Does anyone know if they are going to show this again soon? I missed the first hour and a half!:sad1:

The kids were cute. :lovestruc That was my favorite song so far.

They are doing a stage production , on a studio set, on LIVE tv. I think they are doing an incredible job. Mistakes on Broadway happen all the time but can be easily passed over, you can't get away with it on TV and , IMO, they are all doing great. Not a single bad note. Yes, Carrie's acting is a little stiff, but not so bad to ruin it all.

I wondered if there would be a thread about this. Carrie Underwood can't act to save her life. Her voice is perfectly fine--I mean, she's no Audra McDonald, but who is--but her acting is flatter than a crepe. (I would say a pancake, but a pancake has some volume.)

I think she's getting better as we are watching. This must be hard! :scared1:

I agree. I think they are doing a good job. Let's face it, Carrie Underwood has BIG shoes to fill. The acting is lacking, but I think the musical numbers are beautiful. I am enjoying it. Props to all of them!

Audra McDonald did not disappoint. "Climb Every Mountain" was everything I was hoping for and more.

Yes, I think so too! She probably had to shake off the nerves.

But, at this point I usually stop watching the movie (the last hour bores me) so I'm off to watch The Muppets Christmas Carol! :thumbsup2

THis is usually where I turn off the movie too but since its based on the original production, Im curious to watch and see how it goes. I always hated all the nazi chasing the family scenes in the movie.

Maybe we are just getting used to her. :lmao:

OMG! Audra McDonald has a fantastic voice! Anyone know if she's still on Broadway? She won the Tony last year, (or the year before.) That is what the PP meant about "understanding the emotions behind it all." :thumbsup2

I agree, plus there is a lot of comparison to the movie which is unfair against a stage performance shown live on National TV. I'm allowing my 7 year old DD stay up to watch the whole performance since she is really enjoying it.

Audra McDonald is AMAZINGLY FABULOUS!

Yes. She shows you how it can be done.

Exactly! This is what I meant about having a high standard of singing and acting, when all you guys thought I was just being grouchy, negative and complaining too much on the thread. (Well, okay I was complaining too much. )
