double dipping on fp is gone

I think it will ease things up for offsite for the next couple of weeks. And I'm sure the reason they are doing this now (if they really are) is to get ready for the onslaught of the Christmas-NewYears week.

It's still fascinating to me that they haven't done any real testing with offsite yet. I know they did that Swan and Dolphin thing, but that seemed to me something they set up in a hurry to placate Swan and Dolphin, who they probably have special arrangements with, as opposed to the hundreds of other offsite hotels.

I agree that I am surprised they have done no offsite testing yet. I am sure they will want to do it quick. I don't think they want their onsite guests to get 3 FP+ and offsite guests getting 6 FP- or more. It is to bad until they get everyone on with FP+ that the FP- machines couldn't be programmed to only give out 3 FP- per physical ticket. That way everyone can get 3 and see if they can increase the number of FP+ per person (or the ability to buy extra). I am guessing they will take the savings in FP- since no more double dipping and dump it into the FP+ pool. FP- will probably get even less of a pool now, making more times and spots open for FP+.

I can only imagine they've gotten enough feedback on their ability (some good, some bad, some ugly) at POP, going from a slow time, through a busy,to know how to continue the rollout.

If they're really confident, it should be all resorts quickly.

If not - the infrastructure (incl., staff and GS) can't handle more than one at a time. Which would seem to create so many problems - how many guests will try to switch Resorts?

And, don't they have to try and get off-site only on FP- before the much longer high capacity of XMas and NYE?

A slow march through the next 2 weeks would be mind-boggling.

Keeping everything a secret until guests show up seems unethical to me. But if they broadcast their plans on a roll out schedule the sheer numbers of people trying to switch resorts would be overwhelming. They are in a pickle.

Do you think any class action lawsuits come out of this? People are spending a lot of money and are being hoodwinked.

Jackpot is right!

On my stay everything went haywire too, so the cm dumped into my account three extra FP+ for everyone in my party. But by that time (the end if our trip) we were so tired of messing with FP+ And the inefficient website. We surrendered. We just spent the day drinking at Epcot. Disney won. [My budget is telling me that paying a $70.00 cover charge to buy $10.00 drinks at Epcot is not working well for me.].

I am really going to have to re-evaluate my trips for the future.

It's Amazing to me that Disney is taking this risk. They are the ones :stir:.

It is a huge risk. Who knows how this will all turn out? While I enjoy having drinks in Epcot, I totally agree that paying $70 to do it is crazy expensive.

I have a friend there now who was unable to pull FP- yesterday with either her AP or KTTW card. She was at Epcot, and is staying at a DVC resort. I'm not 100% sure on which resort, but it is either SSR or OKW. I checked here yesterday after she told me, and saw no one had reported not being able to "double dip." I told her I was surprised this didn't work for her since I did read reports of people being able to do this yesterday. Could it be the DVC resorts are the ones affected?

Wait, she couldn't use an AP for FP-?? We're planning on going on 12/7, just for the day (we're semi-local), to use our APs one last time before they expire. Plus, my parents are going with us and will be purchasing single-day tickets. So, will we not be able to use fastpasses??

I doubt offsite guests will se any relief. It's a safe bet that at least 50% of the FP's per ride will be allocated for FP+ (I'm thinking closer to 75%). So that only leaves a small amount of FP- available for offsite guests, which will be gone quickly in the morning.

I agree. I bet if KTTW (and someone mentioned AP not working) no longer pull FP-, the pool might be over 90% FP+ while those with physical tickets get 10%. They want to highlight how good the FP+ is for availability and ability to switch rides and that might mean eliminating the FP- pool almost altogether.

Talk about being on a roller coaster. How much time lost on guest services? What a mess. But the payoff was great.

My sister has only been their two days and spent 9 hours in guest services trying to fix the disasters magic bands. First they couldn't get into the park (and they are still having problems with this issue) and their reserve FP didn't work.

They had to go back in line today and are still waiting in line to solve the problem of getting into the park. They are totally pissed off and I don't blame them. I have a Disney vacation planned in March and I'm thinking about canceling it. To spend all that time in line to solve issues is so wrong.

They have only been compensated with a free fast pass.

You can no longer double dip.

I would like to hear if other AP holders are not able to pull paper FP's or if this one person was having unique issues. If the AP's can't pull paper FP's, then that will affect many offsite guests.

jimandami,
Can you share your check-in date? I wonder if it is affecting only those with recent, or starting today, check-ins.
Thanks!

Checked in last night. I just pulled a FP for ToT with my KTTW card (plan to pixie dust it away) just to experiment. I will try with my AP in a bit and report back.

Seriously?? I am so sad that my sister hasn't had any luck like this. They fell on hard times and just started making money. They haven't been on vacation in 6 years and now they are having too many frustrations.

I'm glad it is working out for you.

With only 1? That's nuts. Thats what I mean about CS being all over. With knowing there will be problems they should have an across the board solution. I would be furious if I knew someone had gotten free upgraded tickets, FP and dinner while I got one FP. That is WDW biggest problem, how inconsistent they are with CS. People have high expectations because they treat some so good and then are even more upset when they get next to nothing.

I would imagine you will be fine if you do not intend on linking the AP or single-day tickets to a MB. Heck as random as all this is you may be fine even if you do link the tickets to a MB.

My friend had linked her AP to her MB and signed up for FP+. In theory, you aren't supposed to be able to use both systems (FP+ and FP-), but that has not been the case since they are still in testing. When she tried to get a FP- using her AP and KTTW card she couldn't. For what ever reason the system either recognized that she shouldn't be using FP- or the mag strip on both the AP and KTTW card didn't work.

As of now, I plan to check into AS Movies just before noon tomorrow. I have never spent time reading or posting on here while I am at Disneyworld, but I will come back and let you all know what I am told at check-in. If it is only newly affecting All Star Resorts and not Moderates, then I will not check-in and instead change resorts. There is plenty of availability. I would like one last trip with paper FP access, so it is worth switching resorts to me. I know others here may find that silly, but it is how I feel. Wherever I end up, I will try to post tomorrow night after I return from HS about whether any KTTW card issued to me worked in a FP machine. That is working on the assumption that there will be FP's available at some attraction for me to try for!

I have UCT tickets (maybe....another loooong story as the tickets were lost in the mail & I have to go to GS with ticket copies UCT sent me & receipt to request "replacements"). So I (hopefully!) will be able to post whether UCT replacement tickets issued at GS will work in the legacy machines, in case anyone cares about that aspect.

Thank you so much for taking the time while there to do this. So many of us here appreciate you for that.

:rotfl: You say this like it's a bad thing.:rotfl:

Sounds like our trips (although AP), except we prefer the :drinking1 to the SB lines since all FP- are long gone.

They may need to start considering putting those new interactive queues at Guest Services...
