Debra + Richard's Disney Wedding 2014

Gah! I've been a PJ slacker. Love the cake! Congrats in having the checklist done. According to the knot I'm super behind and they make sure I am being reminded of it whenever I sign in.

ok so this will be a big update since i haven't updated my planning journal in a loooong time! plenty of stuff has been happening :thumbsup2 so hopefully i can get it all together and organised here.

So i'v had a few friends/acquaintances who were lucky enough to go to WDW this summer. First was my mums manager from her work/my old manager from when i worked there also during college. I was so happy when they arrived back and my mum phoned to say they'd found the cake topper i wanted and brought it back for me :yay:
2013-07-20190117_zps04d4fc28.jpg

the second was a close friend of mine whose son i used to look after at the nursery i work at. me and her son really bonded and then when i got speaking to her and found out she'd honeymoon'ed in WDW with her husband we bonded instantly and still keep in touch regularly :goodvibes she was very helpful bringing home lots of park maps and info for my family etc who haven't been before and are getting really excited. :thumbsup2
she also had loads of advice for things to do with my pirate mad nephew who is currently obsessed with jake and the neverland pirates among other things. (he even had jake come visit him at his birthday party pirate:)

the third lovely thing she did for us was she suprised me with the mr and mrs pins that i absolutely love :woohoo:
2013-09-13141344_zpseeff5464.jpg

Finally i got another wonderful present from the states thanks to the lovely Disbride Nicole  :littleangel:
i'm soooooo thankful to her for giving these to me i was fearful i wouldnt find any  and while it wouldnt be the end of the world to not have them i really wanted them! :dance3:
2013-07-24183837_zps6a5e95ca.jpg

So moving on, i went to the post office today and picked up a parcel thats been there for a few days as i was working when it got delivered. It was this love heart which my nephew will carry as he walks down the aisle infront of me. i'm contemplating adding a mickey head to it or possibly the bride ears like on the pin not sure how this would look.

So despite my sister picking her dress almost a year ago at the wedding fair and going to the store to try it on again for sure, she'd been putting off ordering for ages. so after months of begging and moaning and getting angry at her  we finally went to the shop and got it ordered and paid for. So it comes into the store in January then we need to find somewhere else to take it to do any alterations if any are needed. At the wedding fair it was laced up with white in the back and i really liked it but we've ordered it with the matching purple to lace it up with. I decided to stick with the purple as my dress isnt a corset back as i'd originally wanted and my sister actually said she didnt want to distract from my dress with hers. :) (the close up gives the truest picture of the colour of purple that the dress is)

oh and we also decided we want to stay in the swan for our honeymoon period :goodvibes we're thinking 4 or 5 days to ourselves then back to the villa to spend the rest of the holiday with family.

xXx

to do list
-book discovery cove
-book park tickets
-book swan for the honeymoon
-decide on ceremony details
-decide where to eat wedding dinner
-decide what to do with guests while we're off taking pictures(the plan is to get pictures with everyone round the swan then go to the poly alone with the photographers for pics but some family want to tag along so they have something to do. it would mean they could take pictures too and we'd have some before our pro ones came in for the reception guest book, reception slideshow etc but i dunno if it'd prefer it to b something for just us as a couple)
-book dj for at home reception
-order the rest of the stationary
-book hair and make up
book cake for reception (well i'v given the woman who is going to make it the date and we've talked design etc but no deposit paid yet so i need to follow this up and also think about flavourings)
-look into maybe doing a pontoon boat or the grand yacht one for a wishes sailing on the wedding night
-organise centerpieces for at home reception
-organise guest book for at home reception

my next sort of project is to work out what i wanna do for centerpieces for the at home reception. I dont wanna go too over the top so i'v got a fishbowl for each table and i was thinking of putting a candle or candles inside each one. So far i have some inspiration photos as follows. I don't know whether to use water and small floating candles or use purple/clear stones or crystals with tall candles. i also cant decide on whether to fill the fishbowl almost to the top then have the candles on top or to just be putting a small layer of crystals in the bottom then having the candle/candles.

I love your cake topper...so cute! And the pins! DF will probably want to get those if he sees them. LOL

Yay! for getting the Just Married buttons! The sign is really cute. Your sister's dress is beautiful! The color looks really great on her and that style is perfect for her...very flattering. Thank goodness she went and finally tried it on and you got it ordered!

I really like the photo of the centerpiece with the orchids and I love the beads in the first photo that are glowing. I think a combination of several of these. I'd fill the bowl about 1/3 with beads, whatever makes them glow, water and the orchids. I'm not a huge candle fan, but you could place the candles and beads (or "diamonds") around the bowl for light and reflection. Have it all!!

i actually love the pins (and the just married buttons!) i'm toying with the idea of getting the brides pin design tattoo'ed somewhere i love it that much , need to give it some more thought tho :scratchin

the dress looks great on her your spot on its very flattering and she does look great in it. she's like me not much of a dress person specially a floorlength one lol

i dunno what makes the beads glow but i like it, if i use that i wont use candles or if i have a candle i wont have them glow lol i really like the orchids too but it would mean ordering them fresh from a florist and picking them up the day of the reception as i'v yet to find any artificial ones that i love so i might just not include flowers your right though i just want it all lol :rotfl:

So this update is well overdue!!!! i've been slacking again, taking pictures of things but not actually uploading them lol opppps
so a lot of things have been ticked off my to do list, and some things have been added lol.

so discovery cove is booked :thumbsup2
we've booked it for the same day as FSIL and FBIL. originally they were going near the start of the holiday to celebrate FBIL's birthday which is the day after we fly out, and we were going on one of our "honeymoon" days. but logistically it would be harder for us to go during the honeymoon plus it would take a day out of disney when we're only spending 5 or 6 days there (one of them being the wedding) plus if we go with them then we'll have a little bit of company and have them in the pictures and video with us (as well as getting pictures as a couple too). Then Richard and FBIL can go away exploring and snorkelling etc to stop them getting bored and me and FSIL can just relax :goodvibes

the park tickets for the rest of the holiday are also booked and fully paid for :woohoo:

the dj for our at home reception is booked. we're possibly having a ceilidh if i can convince Richard that it'll be fun even if he doesnt join in the dancing. :dance3:

hair and makeup is also booked :woohoo: i've booked weddings by crystal and have spoken to her about who wants what and about getting ready at the villa.

Erin from JustMarry is in the process of booking a limo to take us from the villa to the swan :hyper: we dont ride in limos very often here in scotland!

Some of you may remember that i went to a big wedding fair last september and found out loads of stuff, ultimately finding my sisters bridesmaid dress. Well again we went to the same wedding fair this year and made more progress. I booked my cake for the reception. A massive multiple tiered castle! i didn't know i wanted it until i saw it then i had to have it :lovestruc after that no other cake looked good enough :bride:
now i just need to let down the other woman who i'd discussed and practically booked my cake with (without paying a deposit or anything like that :scared1:)
My sister did her hair how she'd like it done on the wedding day.

and she also bought her hairpiece to wear,

i also forgot that a while back a big card shop near me had a closing down sale and i bought a bunch of cards for all occasions, including some wedding ones

one of these for each set of parents, we're so thankful for all the help we've had already from both sets of parents towards the wedding and couldnt do it without them :worship:

also after a little bit of drama i got our i'm celebrating badges for our guests :cloud9:
2013-10-12085036_zps9e27a338.jpg

i also got iron on transfers for everyone to wear on the day to get ready in :) i just need to find vest tops or hoodies for everyone before i iron them on so i'll take pictures of the finished products.

to do list
-find vest tops or hoodies for the transfers
-send the cake baker a picture of cinderella's castle
-book swan for the honeymoon
-decide on ceremony details
-pick out my flowers
-decide where to eat wedding dinner
-decide what to do with guests while we're off taking pictures(the plan is to get pictures with everyone round the swan then go to the poly alone with the photographers for pics but some family want to tag along so they have something to do. it would mean they could take pictures too and we'd have some before our pro ones came in for the reception guest book, reception slideshow etc but i dunno if it'd prefer it to b something for just us as a couple)

Omg you have gotten so much done! I haven't done half of that yet, I feel like a slacker! I am glad your sister stopped dragging her feet and picked all her stuff. We think we are going to do discovery cove too! So excited for that! Your to do list just keeps shrinking. I still can't wait to see what you do with your at home reception!

its getting there tiny little bits at a time, i think it feels like a lot as i'v updated it all at the same time lol
discovery cove is fab! i'v done it before but Richard and his sister and her husband have never done it before i'm very much looking forward to it!
My main to do now is to get in wedding shape and save as much spending money as possible the other things are just small things as long as they all go smoothly :thumbsup2
i'm mainly focusing on the reception now see if i can add some disney magic to it pixiedust:

xXx

so some more bits and pieces have happening, mainly small things.

I'v finally started working out (doing zumba on the wii) so i can lose the extra weight on my tummy before my dress fittings in april. :) we'll see how long i last at it lol i have no willpower!

The first part of my hen party is booked! There's 14 of us heading to a spa for the day to get pampered and feel like princesses princess: then we're heading back to my flat (hope we all fit!) for pizza and to get ready for a night of drinks and dancing in town.
:groom: Richard hasnt really made any plans for his stag do yet. men :rolleyes2

got my mickey love sign in the mail last week:lovestruc

We also met our planner for our at home reception last week. She's lovely and soooooo accomodating and very interested in our disney wedding :) She didnt know anything other than we had the venue booked for the date so it was like starting from the beginning and going through everything. Theres a few little bits and pieces still to sort out like how much a screen will be to play our first look on and what we want on the buffet but she drew up a timeline of the event for us

6pm-couple and close family arrive for photographs, bar opens
7pm-guests arrive
8pm-cake cutting, speeches, first dance.
9-9:30pm ceilidh (may start a little earlier i dont think the dances etc will take an hour)
9:30pm-buffet is served
10pm- disco time :dance3:
12-12:30am last orders and bar closes
1am reception ends, all guests depart.

yes i got Richard to agree to a ceilidh and he even said he would do ONE dance of it with me lol

to do list
-find vest tops or hoodies for the transfers
-book swan for the honeymoon

I'm not sure where to start but OMG!! First of all, I absolutely love your tiara! Your "I'm Celebrating Buttons" are the neatest thing to me! Where'd you get those done??? I really love that idea. I love your centerpiece ideas and I will definitely be sharing them with my fiance- if you don't mind. He was interested in doing something like that too with flowers (mainly the orchids). You and I are in the same boat, by the time my wedding rolls around I will have been engaged for 3 years and 3 months.

Happy Planning!

:wave2: hi there :wave2:
thank you for the compliments! you're more than welcome to steal the ideas for the centerpieces i still havent decided what i'm doing with mine yet lol the i'm celebrating badges were a bit of a drama but eventually a etsy seller took the image i sent them and made the badges for me. if u want more info pm me and i'll explain it more

Again things have been happening and i haven't had time to update. These things maybe happened in a slightly different order to what i'm writing them but its all the same in the end.

So firstly we picked up my sisters bridesmaids dress.:thumbsup2 still looks great on her it just needs a few alterations like the bust needs taken in and it needs to be taken up so its just off the floor instead of dragging like it does now. but all in all thats sorted pretty much :goodvibes

although i already have wedding day shoes Richard gave me permission to order some custom steamboat mickey ones with matching clutch bag as my valentines gift this year! :yay: i'm so excited to see them (will post a pic when they arrive) and i'm very tempted to wear them on wedding day instead of the other ones!

We had our cake tasting session for the at home reception and it was fabulous!
here's some pics

our cake!!! the only thing that will be different in ours is the turrets will be powder blue and glittered like cinderellas in magic kingdom.
The flavours we have picked are irn bru (top layer) vanilla sponge (middle layer) and toffee (bottom layer)
2014-01-25134858_zpsdd792df7.jpg

I loved doing this tasting session, felt really special, drinking with the champagne flutes(even if it was only orange juice) getting to taste all the different cakes, talking about our wedding and what we wanted from the cake, showing off our mickey and minnie cake topper (which will sit beside the castle) and getting to see the cake up close again and richard seeing it for the first time.

We got tones of stuff at xmas for the wedding or disney but one of my favourite things are these passport covers my mum&dad got us. Purple for mine and green for Richards, these being our favourite colours and the 2 wedding colours.
5efedc7e-9690-4092-9d6b-4321835c1dbe_zps03b90af2.jpg

I've picked up some bits and bobs to customise the here comes the bride sign i'm still not sure whether to add a heart, a simple mickey head or to challenge myself to do the bride ears.

Invitations have been ordered for the ceremony and the at home reception. Will post pics in a few weeks once they arrive :yay:

I also picked up some purple candles in asda(walmart) during the january sale. They were a little reduced so i was basically getting every 3rd pack free. The candles are about 3-4 cm tall and came in packs of 3. The idea is to use them for the centerpieces probably 3 in each fishbowl but i'v still to get the fishbowls out and put the candles in to see if thats enough or too many per bowl. Have also decided to fill the fish bowls with purple and green sand alternatively like what we would make during a sand ceremony if we decide to have one and if i can find a suitable sand ceremony vase with a reliable lid. So pictures to follow when i find the coloured sand and try it out to see how it looks.

In other news Richard's sister had another baby so we now have a niece and nephew to spoil :woohoo:
She was born the end of january early in the morning and here are the pictures from when she was home about 18hours old.

she is such a contented little baby, only crying when she is being dressed or changed, and when she needs fed but even then its still a small timid and quiet cry theres no sceaming involved just yet  :goodvibes

Think that about brings us up to date. Still feel like i have loads to do and lots to still save or pay for and i'm running out of time but i'm hoping to get my head down and power through things to get everything done or ordered or delivered etc. Bye for now :wave2:

Just need to write them and send them all now! :worried: :( not looking forward to that task!

Need to pull my finger out its creeping up much quicker than i thought and i feel like i'm running out of time now, there might be a few late nights ahead :surfweb:

oh we also decided we're going to just do tablet for our at home reception favours. The company making our cake makes amazing tasting tablet and they can do everything from making it to getting bags and putting tags on them. Its not too badly priced and its one less thing i need to do or worry about :thumbsup2

One thing that has stressed me recently was the fact i was getting very little communication from Erin my planner. she used to reply within a few days and was on the ball with everything i asked. i was getting quite worried that i wasnt hearing from her as often as i used to :worried: I had no idea what was happening until some fellow swalphins filled me in that it was on JustMarry's facebook page that it was her last day with JustMarry :confused3 After a few days my new planner got in touch and she's working hard to catch up on everything i had asked about and everything that is still to be done. It felt like starting from the beginning as i spend a long time writing a very long email filling her in on every detail that should have been confirmed or has been discussed so far. hope its not too much all at once when she reads and that she doesnt feel overloaded :scared1: just wanted to bring her up to speed so she can get on with working her magic and i'm sure it'll turn out fine come the day :wizard:

TO DO LIST

-find vest tops or hoodies for the transfers
-customise the sign for our nephew to carry
-put I DO stickers on shoes
-decide on ceremony details mainly readings or no readings and a sand ceremony or not
-decide where to eat wedding dinner
-decide what to do with guests while we're off taking pictures(the plan is to get pictures with everyone round the swan then go to the poly alone with the photographers for pics but some family want to tag along so they have something to do. it would mean they could take pictures too and we'd have some before our pro ones came in for the reception guest book, reception slideshow etc but i dunno if it'd prefer it to b something for just us as a couple)
-organise centerpieces for at home reception (find the sand for them)
-organise guest book for at home reception
-write invites
-hand out invites
-manage rsvps for at home reception
-pay off our Swan stay
-order some fun tshirts or vest tops for the honeymoon
-pay off the at home reception
-save/change the rest of the spending money
-fine tune the gift poem
-organise my hen night for after the spa day::yes::

Wow the to do list keeps on growing, hoping to chip away at it with all the spare time i have.

:wave2: bye for now! :wave2:
Debra
xXx

Again its been a while since I updated and a lot has been happening. I've been trying to chip away at my wedding to do list but life seems to be getting in the way. I've got brownie camp coming up at the start of may and because someone somewhere messed up i'm having to fill in the paperwork for my first aid at camp qualification again when it should've been done and passed ages ago like last september or something!!! :furious: the paper work is taking forever to do dont need this extra stress right now. So now i'm trying to do a qualification, prepare from brownie camp and prepare wedding stuff so heres my update now i have time!

We are definitely doing a sand ceremony! I took the plunge and ordered a forever frame! I owe my disbride friend Rachael a huge thank you! She not only got the package delivered to her villa in Kissimee to save me postage and give me a reason to go hang out with her when i get to florida but because of a mistake by the manufacturers she is dealing with hassle from the post office to send it back to the company that made it so the missing line of engraving can be added. :cheer2:
Now i just need to find a photo to put in it for on wedding day then we can swap it for a wedding one later on.

Leading on from this we thought the sand for the centerpieces would tie in perfectly with the sand ceremony which will be displayed at the reception and hopefully will be shown on the projector at our reception. Now mainly due to costs of the sand and delivery of it I think we're going to go with small purple crystals instead. Money has unfortunately been even more tight than we first thought it would be as i'v had problems with car that have needed to be fixed so we've been very tight recently. :sad1:

back to wedding ceremony stuff.
we decided on a flute and guitar for music for the ceremony! i spend weeks listening to youtube videos and being really indecisive about it then i discussed it with a friend from high school who did a masters degree in music at university and composes his own musical scores. He suggested that while all the options would sound good with the songs i had picked he thought a flute and guitar would sound best. :goodvibes

we picked 3 songs to use during our ceremony and have just said the rest to be backing music of the musicians choice.
Bridal Party Entrance: Can you feel the love tonight - Elton John - Lion King :simba:
It will begin with our nephew walking in the my sister then me and my Dad.
Sand Ceremony: You'll be in my heart - Phil Collins - Tarzan
Recessional/Exit: A whole New world - Aladdin :genie:

We decided there was no need for a special entrance for Richard or his best man or officiant or the mothers of bride and groom as that would only leave 2 guests sitting waiting on everyone else coming in. Everyone including Richard will be more relaxed if they are just walking in casually and standing or sitting around the fountain in the courtyard with the officiant before i enter instead of having to worry about something more formal.

After the ceremony is over and me and Richard are taking pictures everyone else has decided they will just find a lounge somewhere and maybe a bite to eat. If we get early check in Richard's sister might take our nephew up to the room for a nap while we're away. If not i'm sure there will be a sofa or chair he can curl up on.
I'm in process of booking Il Mulino's for the evening meal on wedding day. We decided as a group and everyone liked this menu best so thats where we're going for :teeth:

my mum has booked limos to pick us up from the villas and take us to the swan! gonna feel like royalty princess:

Now for some pics :) i had my first dress fitting and decided on alterations. I loved having my dress on and cant wait to wear it not once but twice :thumbsup2
I decided to have it bustled up at the bag so i have almost no train to mess about with. The steamstress had a spare piece of embellishment that matched the embellishment on my dress which she is gonna sew onto of the area where she permanently bustles the back of the dress up.
excuse the messy hair and funny face

I haven't completely decided on what i want to do with my makeup yet but a close friend of mine from primary school did my make up for my hen night and i quite liked it i just dont know if it stood out enough though. I want a natural look but not completely natural if that makes sense which i know it doesnt.

i made a start on writing the invites out and i think i'm about half way through. my mums been helping too and has done some of them, but i need to get addresses from people we can get the envelopes sorted too and get them out ASAP! :worried:

I finally got round to buying something for us to wear to get ready in. I just got button down shirts so theres no lifting over our heads and hair! will post pics once ironed them on.

I also splashed out and spoilt myself on a beach bag to use around the pool and water parks and more importantly on wedding day to carry all our props for photos and other bits and pieces :beach:
It was made by a fellow UK disney bride Tabitha and i absolutely love it!

and finally I had my hen party party:
we went to a spa during the day which was heaven!!!!!!!! :cloud9:
sooooo relaxing i could've stayed even longer (we were there from 10am-half 4pm!)
we swam and went in the steam room and had some treatments done. Lunch was also included! Chicken lunch box (or salmon or greek salad) a yummy smoothie which i think was maybe a banana milkshake sort of thing and a glass of sparkling wine :)

the invites for my at home reception are officially all out! 2 months till the reception numbers r due to be confirmed so hoping everyone gets back to me quite quickly.
i've already posted pictures of the invites but what i didnt post was the little saying i typed up and printed out to go in them.

we dont want people to feel like they have to give us a gift but i know there are some people who will want to and i'd prefer to get money that we can use towards our honeymoon/recover some funds from what we've spend on the reception and stuff. Plus we dont need any household stuff so i dont want to waste peoples money on stuff we dont need or end up with a bunch of things like toasters and blenders and stuff that will just end up sitting in my grans spare room gathering dust. I already feel bad that my grans spare room has a cupboard full of presents that we got from people at our engagement party that have never been out the box because we just dont need any of it not even as luxuries. So i'm hoping people dont take offense at it. thankfully i've already had a few close family members say they were giving us some dollars anyway so hopefully people wont mind.
