I'm Done!!! Too Many Changes We Don't Like

- ADR cc policy. This is a major annoyance for me. I think it is a greedy move by Disney and it really ticksw me off. I don't want to be bound financially to where I am going to eat dinner every day on vacation. I will no longer make ADRs.

This opinion drives me crazy! It is not greed on Disney's part. It is the greed of the guests being selfish that drove this change. Certain ressies are hard to get. We all know this. In the past, people would book two ressies at the same time in different parks so they would have options when it was time to eat. That's wonderful if you are the only person who wants to eat at that place, but sorry other people exist in the world. Another family couldn't get into the restaurant they wanted because someone else was hoarding reservations they never kept. Disney's policy is trying to be fair to all and it actually gains them little revenue since I would assume the policy prevents much of the "double dipping" of ADRs.
My husband laments the days before the dining plan when you could literally walk into any restaurant and get a table at that moment, but the world doesn't work that way anymore.

I remember when paper FP came out. Lots of people freaked.

I really don't have anything constructive to add to this conversation, except to say that if you really feel this way, then perhaps your disenchantment with Disney has been coming on for years. It happens. I once had eight years between WDW vacations. It's your money. Nobody else has the right to tell you you're wrong or to not let the door hit you on your way out.

That's *your* business. Of course, you *did* come on here and tell it to everyone, so I hope you don't get mad when some vehemently disagree. :scratchin

Be honest..... It's the lack of purple magic bands.... isn't it...

I also understand the frustration too. But alot of people just don't like change. Sometime it is not what is changing but just that there are changes.

I think you have a point about simply not liking change. Parenting a child with disabilities has conditioned me to expect change and be prepared to adapt rather than be overwhelmed. However, several changes to adapt to for DD at once is harder for me. In the real world and the DisneyWorld. But I am viewing it with the attitude that we will learn how to make the changes that affect us work.

For me, it is the complexity of touring with a disabled child combined with the various changes that is challenging. DH and I are fortunate enough to be taking a solo trip in December and the planning, etc. for that has not been too stressful.

I've been feeling very similar. We've spent as much money for this vacation as we would have going to Europe. The spontaneity of the vacation is gone. I just don't know what I want to eat and the things I want to do at what times six months in advance of going on vacation. :sad2: I also don't want to stand an hour in a line for a ride-I'm not even that into rides.

We won't be going back after this trip.

YIKES. If you don't want to go back, don't go back. You don't need to start threads on a Disney message board about it. *spilled milk icon here*

I agree! This is TOTALLY understandable why they did this. I thought just as you did. The person(s) that complains are the ones who make multiple reservations at a park and see where they are closest to at that time and go to it. The only thing the might could have done was to have it where the system could red flag if someone had a double reservation within and hour or two of another but then people would make up names so that wouldn't work. Unless they ID'ed you, but if you have a big party just use everyone in your parties name. So no...that doesn't work.

Exactly. Disney typically only changes the rules when they are forced to. Chipping the mugs, CC numbers for ADRs, DAS instead of GAC are all things brought about because too many people couldn't follow the rules.

I'm sorry you feel things have changed to the point that you wouldn't enjoy a Disney vacation.:worried:

We didn't force them to reduce EMH and reduce monorail hours

I understand where you are coming from and for your family with all the changes it may not be the best place to go anymore.

I agree too.... I absolutely LOVE this new rule that you will be charged for a no show!!!!!

Nope, my family won't stop going.

After our January trip, I'll have more first-hand info. Until then, I'm keeping an open mind.

Me too! I have a split stay, 3 nights without FP+ and 6 nights with....I will pass judgment after I experience both!

Im just happy and fortunate to be there every time we visit. You have to be able to adapt to the ongoing changes the best you can.

This is what I was talking about in my post, you haven't even gone yet and you've already decided your not going to have fun and won't be going back.

What if your kids have the time of their life? What if you end up having a blast?

It sounds like you are not expecting to have fun and if that's your mindset there's a high chance you won't have fun. I just think you are cheating yourself and your kids out of a great vacation before it even happens.

I have to agree with you OP. Unless this vacation is much better than expected, I can't see wanting to go back every year. I'm past the point in my life when I want to either plan my day around rides chosen months in advance, or not ride the popular rides without waiting for an hour.

As far as the ADR cancellation policy, this will hurt many people who never made double reservations in the past. When my son was young, there were several times that he was just too tired and cranky to keep our ADRs. Who knows, maybe this change will make it easier for families to eat without having to make reservations 180 days in advance?

I can fly to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, stay at a gorgeous resort on the beach, eat at fantastic restaurants and drink top shelf liquor and still pay less than this 4 night trip to WDW staying at Pop with the QS dining plan. I remember the days when Disney was much more affordable.

I love Disney, plan to move to Orlando in a few years and work there, but I'm not sure I will vacation much there anymore.

And please remember that everyone has a right to their opinions, even on the Dis. Comments on how there will be one less person at WDW when you are there on vacation remind me of something that the children I work with would say. If you don't want to read negative comments on WDW, don't read the threads!

You know, I saw purple magic bands on Google images. But why do they not offers this. It must be a conspiracy. Maybe the purple magic bands are for very special guests and give unlimited fast passes:lmao:

I will withhold judgement until after my January trip.

I am visiting in Dec. as an offsite visitor. I hope all goes well. I still have one more DGKid to take to the World. Then I may reassess how often I visit WDW. I know I will still go but probably not as often. I have a lot to see on my bucket list. I have been a loyal parks visitor since 1994 (and 1957 for DL). I just think there are a lot more changes this year. I am looking forward to trying FP+ but it won't be in Dec. since I am staying offsite. I actually agree with the changes to ADR's. I have been shut out of popular spots (which may have been because of double bookings).
