Mine train soft openings

With the spring date looming in the future, how early do you think the ride will be ready for soft openings?

I can say I'm hoping for a sod opening on dec 13 or 17 my MK days. Just sayin ;)

Just a hope for some magical pixie dust, I got to soft open RnRC many moons ago, love to be "one of the first" again!

Based on all I've heard my guess would be late January early February at the earliest. On a limited time magic tour with an imagineer who is working on the project she brought up that the challenge of the coaster has been the rock work. Disney strives for perfection and they wants it to be as realistic as possible there problem right now is moss on the rocks once they conquer it I think it will begin to take great form.

I agree, that exterior is going s l o w and it's got a 360 degree sightline which means a LOT of work to get done.

I would not expect soft openings until a few weeks before official opening. And since all we have to go on is "Spring" I think that means Feb-Mar at the earliest!

Given that Spring is March 21 through June 20, to be technical means that soft openings probably wont happen till mid feb at earliest and may not happen till as late mid may.

I personally see it opening in June right before summer crowds, but that is my guess at least. Disney seems to like to open things in times ffor high traffic.

Seeing it last weekend, I am thinking late January or February. It is progressing very slowly on the outside.

1) It is behind schedule.
2) Seems to be a problems with the dwarf workers.
3) They are doing a lot of "Heigh-Ho"-ing.
4) But are not "going off to work" enough.

All I know is what I read on the DIS, but my money would be on soft openings mid-April (shortly before Easter) and official opening mid-May. Although technically Spring goes well into June, I think most people think of Memorial Day as the end of Spring/start of Summer.

I would be thrilled if there were soft openings by 2/11/14, but I sure don't expect it.

I would say that the soft openings will start about two to three weeks before scheduled opening. There will be random days, CM preview days, AP and DVC Member preview days, general preview days, and then the Grand Opening for the Press.

I think only a couple weeks soft opening seems a little short. Last year with the new fantasyland they had 'dress rehearsals' for well over a month that I recall, and when Everest opened there was over two months. I mean, who knows what they'll actual do or when, I just think a couple weeks prob isn't a long enough guess.

When is it actually supposed to open? I am hoping it will be up and running for our October 2014 trip!

I live in the area and visit often. Every time I take a peek it seems to be very slow progress, at least on the exterior. That bright yellow 'skeleton' of the rock face doesn't seem to be getting any smaller. I wouldn't expect anything soon, but I do keep my fingers crossed for springtime--we are also waiting patiently for MagicBands to be released for AP holders.

I have annual passes on magic bands :)

Make a one day resort reservation and you will get MagicBands sooner! But internal testing is underway, so I am guessing it will be soon after January 1.
