~~ Sew hot, Hot, HOT! ~~ A sweltering Aug 2013 TR ~ Pre-Trippie link posted! ~ 10/31!

The magic shots with baby Simba are cute!

I'm with you - of course, heading to EE is a must do! The more times the merrier. :thumbsup2 Now with the overhead netting it makes me think about getting whacked in the head by falling stuff. I wouldn't have been aware of the "danger" otherwise. ;)

Enjoy your Cranfest!!

I want my Mickey Waffles !!!! Love the pictures of EE - you guys take great pictures.:thumbsup2

Please, :worship: Take me back to my HAPPY PLACE :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

Thanks for checking out my stuff. They really aren't on par with what you do, but I enjoy doing it so much. You are the one a couple of years ago who inspired me to return to my sewing in the first place. Thank you!

I love the photos. Again, your personalities just shine through each one of them. They say "We're having fun and we don't care who knows it!"! That's one of the great things about Disney World...you can be a kid at any age and fit right in!

D~, have a fantastic weekend with the girls you work with! Sounds like a lot of fun. Be safe!

P.S. I'm penciling in girls WDW trip 2016!!

I can't believe that I don't get instant e-mails when this thread is updated even if I have it all set up. I only get e-mails when the DIS boards feels like it.

Love all your pictures from the parks and restaurants you have visited.

OMG...I am leaving in 7 DAYS...ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!!!! :cheer2: I so need some Disney magic in my life! pixiedust: It has been toooooo long. A year and a half is entirely too long to wait for some magic!!! ::yes::

Have a great time this weekend! I'll probably still end up behind again because I have to go to a conference Sun - Weds. Only good thing is that it is at a lake resort and I'm going to go Zip Lining!

I see you're in Atlanta, are you going to Callaway Gardens by any chance? A bunch of family members did the zip line there a while back. It's a really pretty resort!

Loving your report. I can't get over how beautiful the Carl & Ellie bag is. I want one so bad. That scene is one of my favorites of any Disney movie and it looks so amazing. I also love those Monsters Inc. ears. People must go crazy over you all in the parks.

Have a fabulous time at Cranfest.

Thanks - we did!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Pretty!!!!!! I would LOVE LOVE to go! 2016 girls trip??

I hope you have a great weekend! I expect LOTS of pictures...

I think that is a great idea!

HOLY COW the ride pictures are a RIOT and i love them! Hey when did they start doing pictures with a frame?!?! That's awesome.

I am not sure? The photopass guy just had it out there with him - it turned out pretty cool.

Your photopass pics are stunning from this day. I think EE and the TOL make beautiful backgrounds. I especially love the one where you're all holding the frame.

I'm thinking your other must-do would be riding Dinosaur for the FP+ pic?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend at cranfest!

Thanks! We had so much fun!

Great photos! You guys look so calm on the ride photos!

Hahaha... We love Disney rides!

Have a blast in WI! Looking forward to "hearing" from you when you get back

Thanks! We had a great time!

He finds it very snooty (this from an experience we had there when it first opened) and reminds him of how his grandma's house looked.

Ahhh... Got it - I have heard that from many people - and it was what I expected when we got there, but surprisingly - we didn't have any problems.

Love the photopass pictures and theones on EE are a hoot. I can't ride that once let alone countless times.

Glad V got her autograph from Rafiki. We've not gone under TOL since the accident so we've not seen the netting.

Thanks! Yah- the netting was no fun, but I wish there was some other way they could prevent an accident.

Awesome PP pictures and the ride ones are hilarious!
So glad that V got her signature from Rafiki! I haven't made it back to that area for a few years. Got to do that again sometime.

It is a bummer that they have all the netting up around the tree but I guess it is better than having a huge metal branch fall on your head.

Have a great time this weekend! I'll probably still end up behind again because I have to go to a conference Sun - Weds. Only good thing is that it is at a lake resort and I'm going to go Zip Lining!

Thanks! Oooh I hope you had a great time... No desire to go zip lining for me - ever - too afraid of heights. LOL

Have a great weekend!

Thanks - I did. I hope you did too?

Your Expedition Everest pictures crack me up...just LOVE them! And the Photopass pic of all 3 of you inside the frame is very cool. I have never seen that one!

Sounds like a fun girls weekend ahead...have a GREAT time and be sure to come back and share all the fun pics!

Thanks - we did have a great time!

What fun pictures on EE! Glad V got to see Rafiki.

Enjoy your weekend away!!

Thanks! It was fun!

Have a wonderful girls weekend!

Thanks for checking out my stuff. They really aren't on par with what you do, but I enjoy doing it so much. You are the one a couple of years ago who inspired me to return to my sewing in the first place. Thank you!

Don't sell yourself short Lois - your items are magnificant!!! Awww... I didn't know that you returned to sewing because of me... I am so glad you found your hobby again!

I love the photos. Again, your personalities just shine through each one of them. They say "We're having fun and we don't care who knows it!"! That's one of the great things about Disney World...you can be a kid at any age and fit right in!

Exactly - one of the main reasons I go back again and again.

D~, have a fantastic weekend with the girls you work with! Sounds like a lot of fun. Be safe!

P.S. I'm penciling in girls WDW trip 2016!!

Thanks! It was a lot of fun! Oooh - good idea - we'd love to have you along Lois!

No worries! Hi Lillian!!! I hope you are well!

OMG...I am leaving in 7 DAYS...ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!!!! I so need some Disney magic in my life! pixiedust: It has been toooooo long. A year and a half is entirely too long to wait for some magic!!!

Less than 7 days now! WHOOOOO-HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! So excited for you Oopsi! I hope you have an amazing trip! I cannot wait to read all about it!

D - I hope you have a marvelous time at Cranfest! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Thank you! We had a great time at Cranfest!

Welcome! And thank you! That bag was a work of love - I had well over 40 hours of just applique work alone in it! Yes - people do love to comment on our items while we are in the parks - it's a lot of fun!

**********************************************************

As I am sure you've guessed - I am home!

We had a wonderful time at Cranfest!

I thought I would share a few photos with you all from the weekend...

Cranfest is held in Warrens, WI - they boast well over 800 craft vendors - and it's one of the biggest craft sales in the US. It's held the last full weekend in September every year, and it's just crazy! So many people packed into this little town - there are craft tents in each and every yard - this entire town is transformed, it's quite crowded and shocking. But I must give them credit - being from a small town myself and working within the city government - I really admire them for taking this annual festival, and making it a main source of income for their town. Because if this festival and the revinue it generates - the townspeople have insured the survival of their town... Each and every person contributes - from adults to children... It's just really cool to see each person pitching in to make this happen.

Anyways... Back to my mini-TR on Cranfest...

We took 2 cars this time... My co-worker, Linda drove - I navigated (which probably isn't the best idea, but I tend to get car sick in the back, so I won by default), then Sarah and Joy rode in the back. We left earlier and arrived at the resort about 3 hours before Karen and Carol.

We checked in, found our room - unloaded our stuff... I took some photos of the room for you all - it was a very nice room and something I wish Disney would do more of..

Living area/bunks:

Vanity area - outside the bathroom... + there was another full mirror and vanity inside the bathroom...

20130926_191837.jpg

Then a seperate King bedroom... All of the non-snorers/non-sleep talkers slept in here... This was a beautiful room - and I really wish I qualified to sleep here. LOL

20130926_191853.jpg

Kitchen area - we had a small fridge and a microwave...

We were all famished, so we had dinner at the pub inside the resort.. The food was good - but I did not get the item I'd ordered.. Which sort of annoyed me, but oh well. L to R: Joy, Sarah, Me & Linda:

A few hours later Karen and Carol arrived - they were only supposed to be an hour behind us, but they were distracted. LOL

We all went to bed fairly early, as we had to be up early on Friday morning for Cranfest.

I slept on the hide-a-bed... Which I wound up pulling one of the matresses down from the top bunks, because the bars from the bed were very uncomfortable. This room slept 8, but we think that 6 is a comfortable limit with only one bathroom. Once I had the matress on top of the hide-a-bed, it was very comfy!

We woke at about 5am on Friday morning... We all got ready and had breakfast. We each brought something to share - my contribution was caramel rolls fro breakfast, so that's what we had. We were out the door by 6:30am. Cranfest technically opened at 7am, and we were only about 5 minutes away - we landed ourselves a good parking spot, and we were off!

I love going to craft sales - but one thing that annoys me about this one, in particular, over half of it is vendors who order their items from China wholesale, then just bring their items here to sell. Since I make my living "crafting" - I am very particualar about who I purchase from, and I refuse to purchase items that are not hand made by the people working the booths. So, I did purchase a few things this trip - I made the girls promise not to let me buy so much food this time - because last year I wound up throwing most of it away - because I just bought too much.

So... My purchases were... 4 different small jellies - made with different beers and wine - they were very good. I plan to serve them for Thanksgiving/Christmas. I also found this guy who was just INGENIOUS - I don't have a picture of what I purchased, but I flat out told him - he could make a mint if he opened an Etsy shop... He had all of these cute animals that he made out of various gears/silverware/bearings/golf clubs - anything metal. I splurged BIG TIME on 2 of his items... A "small" grasshopper made out of knives/forks - the reason I chose this one, is that the main body of the grasshopper was made from the same pattern of knife that my parents had while I was growing up. I also purchased a much bigger and much more expensive "animal"... I will try to post pictures of these later today - they are so cool and just very brilliant! I would love to have more of his works. I also purchased a plain sterling silver chain for myself - because I need one for all of my pendants that I never get to wear. I purchased a bracelet for myself. And also a bottle of Cranberry/rhubarb wine... Can't wait to try it! Otherwise - other than food I actually ate - that was it... but let me tell you - I ate waaaay more food than necessary.

At some point this morning... I came across a booth.. Which reminded me of my Diser Besties... Suzi and Mo... I had to take a photo to tell them that I thought of them and missed them... If you look really closely - I had Nini with me too - as I used the bag from BB that I had her neck coolers attached to - I was glad I had them with, because later in the day, it was so hot, I wound up wetting one down and using it. :thumbsup2

Why did I think of them and miss them? For those of you that didn't follow Mo's TR about their trip to MOA for our birthdays... Here's a photo of the 3 of us together:

By the time we finished Cranfest - we were all so tired... It was a LONG day of walking on uneven ground/through people's yards/in the HOT sun (but not as hot as WDW in Aug). But we had fun - lots of laughs!

We were back to our room at about 3 pm... Where we hung out for a while, waiting for the water park to open.

At 5pm, we all put on our swimwear, and headed down to the water park...

L to R: Joy, Carol, Linda, Karen and Me... I didn't think you all wanted to see me in my swimsuit - so I was kind enough to blot it out for you. :thumbsup2

20130927_174535a.jpg

And one of us in the lazy river... Thankfullly no injuries for me on this lazy river - unless you want to count the fact that I decided to kick my way around it several times, and now my leg muscles are quite sore. LOL

20130927_182250.jpg

The girls even talked me into going on one of the water slides... Normally - I don' t have a problem with water slides, but since these went in and out of the building - they were totally enclosed tubes and very dark inside... being that I am a bit claustrophobic - I freaked out a little bit. Thankfully, Carol went on a double tube with me - and she rode in the front. I was so petrified on the ride, I didn't even scream - I just made the face. LOL No more water slides for me - had they been open and not tubes - or even clear tubes on top - I wouldn't have had a problem at all.

Once we were done at the water park - we went back to our room for dinner... Linda had made sloppy-Joes and they had been cooking in the crock pot all day, and several others brought salads/chips to go with.

We went to bed fairly early, because we were all tired.

Yesterday morning - we all woke... Packed the remainder of our bags and checked out by 9am... We stopped in Eau Claire for breakfast at Perkins - and I was home at exactly 1pm.

It was a super fun weekend! I am so lucky that I have such great co-workers who are a lot of fun! :lovestruc

I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend... I have to work a little in my sewing room this morning, then I am headed up to BFF's house so we can do a bit of grocery shopping. :thumbsup2

D~

Sounds like a fun time. I dislike people who buy from China and say handmade. At least disclose you bought it and are the middleman.

Have fun grocery shopping.

Sounds like you had a great trip. I can't wait to see how the metal animals you bought looks like.

I love your review of your trip to Cranfest. We live in the Chicago suburbs, which makes Wisconsin a nice weekend destination. That looks like a nice resort. :)

I'm surprised at how many resorts have a water park attached to them. I am claustrophobic, too and would absolutely freak on that tube slide. I made the mistake of trying Mission Space at Epcot. When that harness thing dropped down over my shoulders and the viewing panel come forward, I just about lost it. That was the closest I ever came to having a panic attack. :scared: I managed to survive the ride by repeating over and over "Disney won't kill me. They will let me out. It will be over soon." But I will never go on that again.:sad2:

D, it sounds like you gals had a great weekend. I love that you found shirts that reminded you of Suzi and Mo...how great is that!

I'm with you...if I'm in a dark tube, I'm not sliding! :rotfl::rotfl:
