Bumping us back up from half way down the second page because I am super excited. We just finalized plans for a surprise Christmas trip to WDW for our girls! :santa: For several years we have saved and had our family vacation in the fall at WDW. This year my DH wanted to do something different, so we cancelled our fall trip and booked a cruise for March. We were going to add a few days at WDW on at the beginning of that trip. However, now that it's fall we're all missing WDW and the Poly (especially with all of the changes coming) so we've booked a short trip with the room only discount for the first week of December (and will cancel the WDW portion of our cruise trip). While it won't exactly be at Christmas, who cares? It's Disney and what a great way to get into the spirit of the season! Did I mention I'm excited?! :cool1:

Awesome!!! Growing up we always went the 2nd week of December. I think the 1st week will be perfect. It will be WAY less crowded than Christmas!!! All Christmas decor will be up and you won't know it's not Christmas day. ;) How long is your cruise in March? I cannot wait to go on another cruise. We have a 7 night planned for the end of August and trying to figure out a way to afford a 3 night in May. :)

We went the first week of December in 2010 and we loved it. Since it's been 3 years we're hoping it will especially exciting for the kids to go back during the holidays (mind you we're usually there around Halloween/F&W, which is pretty awesome too!) We are going to do our darndest to keep it a secret right up until we leave. This will be their Christmas present! :goodvibes

We are taking a 7-day western for our cruise in March. We've been told many times how fantastic it will be. I have to admit I've never been very interested in cruising, but I'm optimistic that so many people can't been wrong! :)

We live on the shore of Lake Huron. The last couple of years a very invasive (and tall!) species of grass has been invading the beach. In some areas it's completely taken over. Our local municipal council had to hire consultants and research the best methods to eradicate this grass. When they found a solution they had to apply to the ministry of natural resources for permission. I would assume Disney would have to undertake a similar process since it is part of a wetland. Since they have been considering and are now beginning construction maybe they decided to wait and take care of it all at the same time (even the stuff that is not on the beach affected by construction). At least here I know it's not as simple as just going out and hacking the grass down.

That's very interesting. Wonder if it's a similar situation. Maybe it's another way to keep people from swimming in the lagoon. Either way, it looks horrible! Guess I'm dwelling on it but I've been going to the Poly since I was a kid in the 70's and I hate any reduction of it's beauty.

That's the one we're taking the end of August, the 7 night western. You will love it!! The 4 night Bahamian cruise we just took was my 1st cruise and I'm hooked. We always loved going to WDW but after the cruise we decided to just stick with the cruises the next few years, we loved it that much! The CM's on the cruise were amazing!!! I will say, I was more excited for the resort stay but ended up liking the cruise much better!!!

Good for you!! We went in December last year and loved it, especially the storytellers at Epcot. The weather was great and crowds were manageable. We're going end of October this year for F&W and Halloween party.

We've traded trips! :rotfl: We usually go the last week of October and hit MNSSHP and F&W. Love that time of year. The fall decorations are great, the weather is usually beautiful and the crowds are good.

We are Poly bound tomorrow!! :cool1: That is if we can escape all of this flooding at home. It's crazy - I've never seen so much water. My kids got a "rain day" today because we had so much rain that the roads are closed. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and have never seen this. I sure hope our plane can take off tomorrow!

Good luck! Poly bound Saturday, maybe we will run into each other!

Poly Vacation 9/14-9/21!!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I'll be at the Poly 11/14 through 11/22. Soooo excited! I stayed there once around 25 years ago with my parents when I was little and still remember most of it! There are nine of us from my family going (staying in three rooms), but I had a few questions I couldn't find through search...

1) My older teenage son will go through Xbox withdrawal at night if he is not able to hook up his game system. Is there any way to hook up a system to the TV's?

2) I was told there was a hot tub at the Poly but read somewhere you have to walk over to the Grand Floridian to use one?

3) Will housekeeping bring you extra pillows if you ask? I'd hate to waste space in the suitcase, but my family loves multi pillows per person!

Thanks :)

Glad you had a great time.....it sounds amazing :wizard:. I am really looking forward to CC as I've heard it is just so beautiful and relaxing :cloud9:. Congrats on another cruise next year. Are you cruising the Dream again or trying the Fantasy? Thanks for your mini report.....I can't wait to go :goodvibes.

It sure was amazing!! I would say for me, CC was the highlight of the trip. I would highly consider a double dip cruise for CC!! The cruise we have booked for August 30th is on the Fantasy. I'm also hoping to take a cruise in May for my bday and that would be back on the Dream.

Have you been following the cruise line thread? I found a lot of helpful info from there. I would highly recommend taking some Bonine 2 days before sailing and then everynight of the cruise incase you get sea sick. We didn't have a problem with getting sea sick. Also, read through the Navigator or you may miss some good things. We missed a towel animal class on the "sea day" where they show you how to make the towel animals, that would have been interesting, there was also a cooking class that morning that I would have liked to attend. Also, they will post the day and time of the captain signing if that's something you are interested in. On the "sea day" we just so happened to buy a frame and the cruise ship ornament and the cashier mentioned to us that the captain was signing things in an hour and 30 minutes. I am so glad she mentioned that!! There again, we did not take the time to read through the Navigator and would have missed out if we had not been told. :sad1: We had him sign the frame and the bottom of the ornament! :goodvibes

1) I don't think you can get to the connections on the tv. Ours was built into a frame.
2) There is not a hot tub.
3) They are pretty generious with the pillows. We had 4 per bed

Aloha! We are here now, staying in Tahiti, no construction in sight! Just walked sunset cove, and along the whole beach - beautiful as always. The parking area near Rapa Nui closed finally overnight. Maybe a sign of things to come, but for now - all is amazing. A few magic band hiccups to start the trip, but otherwise good to go :)

Is the beach in front of the Hawaii building the one that is talked about for the best views of wishes? Anyone know if construction will close this beach or block the view (read something of bungalows)? We are doing split stay in January, and not sure if we want to risk not being able to see wishes from the beach. That's one of the top reasons for us staying there.

We were able to hook up our iPad to the TV to watch videos on our iTunes account. The connections are on the front of the tv so you **may** be able to hook up a gaming system.

There are already 4 pillows on the beds and usually an extra one in the closet ... but housekeeping will certainly bring you extra.
