Irish Seafood Pie and Lava Cake at the 2012 Food and Wine Festival

DSC01826.jpg

A bit of a lapse, but continuing with reposting Figment Goes to the Flower & Garden (& Food) Festival...

Raglan Road (Downtown Disney, Sunday Brunch)
Figment read about the Sunday Brunch offerings at Raglan Road and decided he wanted to give it a try. It was also the first time he saw the Irish Dancing at Raglan Road (it was fun to watch). The meal started with some Irish Soda Bread.

DSC_0545_1_zps7c803bfa.jpg

He already had the Scallop Forest at Cooke's of Dublin, but it's one of Figment's favorites, so he wanted to have it again at Raglan Road. The presentation is better, but the flavor is largely the same. Very yummy.

DSC_0561_1_zpsd0d49294.jpg

For his entrees, Figment tried two items on the brunch menu and one from the regular menu. The Full Irish (sausage, black pudding, bacon, roasted tomato, mushrooms and fried eggs with roasties) was very good. There was a lot of food and a lot of variety.

DSC_0578_1_zps05e4cbf7.jpg

Kevin's Ham Schnitzel was also very good. It was a huge portion!

DSC_0569_1_zps54480eda.jpg

THe Prosciutto & Chicken Sanger (an sandwich) was okay, but it wasn't what Figment expected. There was hardly any proscuitto on it (couple little pieces, kind of like bacon bits).

DSC_0582_1_zps7d08b2b1.jpg

Then it was time for dessert. Raglan Road features another favorite of Figment: the Dunbrody Jaffa Kiss. It's a chocolate mousse with chocolate ganache, orange marmalade, and cake.

DSC_0583_1_zpsd540eb98.jpg

Be Our Guest (Magic Kingdom, Dinner)
Another new experience for Figment. He had lunch at Be Our Guest earlier in the trip...now it was time to try it for dinner. Figment checked in 15 minutes early (as instructed) and then waited 45 minutes past his ADR time to be seated (so an hour or so wait). Figment liked the rose folded napkins at the table (top). The meal starts with some bread rolls and butter (bottom).

DSC_0652_1_zps555b3458.jpg

DSC_0657_1_zpsfd413830.jpg

Figment started with Seasonal Salad Trio for his appetizer. It was composed of three different salads (Watermelon, Radish, and Mint Salad (left), Roasted Beet, Gold Raisin, and Orange Salad (middle), and Green Bean, Tomato, and Roasted Shallot Salad (right)). Figment liked the green bean and watermelon salads the best.

DSC_0661_1_zpsf31652a7.jpg

Just because it's the only place in the Magic Kingdom where wine is offered, Figment decided to try a glass.

DSC_0659_1_zps1d5ec580.jpg

For his entrees Figment tried the Thyme-scented Pork Rack Chop with Au Gratin Pasta, Seasonal Vegetables, and Red Wine Au Jus (top), the Rotisserie Rock Hen with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Seasonal Vegetables (middle), and the Grilled Strip Steak with Garlic Butter Spread and Pommes Frites (bottom). The steak had good flavor and was well cooked (i.e., cooked as ordered). Figment generally likes rib eye or filet mignon, so the steak was a little "tougher" than those cuts. The Rock Hen was nice and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The pork was pretty bland by itself, but the au jus was very flavorful and good.

DSC_0674_1_zpsfa378f4c.jpg

DSC_0667_1_zps516c2944.jpg

After Figment finished his entrees, it was time for dessert. He tried the Chocolate Cream Puff (top), Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake (middle), and the Lemon Meringue Cupcake (bottom). All of the desserts were very good, except perhaps the cream puff. Like at lunch, the shell had gotten soft, but the inside was very yummy. Figment liked both of the cupkaes.

Figment had read about the "grey stuff" so he asked our server if he could try it. It really didn't have much flavor, but it looked really pretty. The flavor kind of reminded Figment of buttercream frosting.

I know this isn't food related, although it all looks yummy, but where did you get your Figment plush? I could only find large ones when we were at Epcot but that one is adorable!

Thanks for the reviews, Figment, great posts.

I'm sure they mean to ask where you found your human, and not vice versa. ;)

I think I remember seeing similar sized Figments (relatives?) at Mouse Gears (works? whatever its called) in Epcot years ago.

Yup, Figment found me when he was in the Imagination pavilion store during the Beanie Baby craze, so it's been a while. This was when the store was up in the building near the leap frog fountains. They had Figment's friends at several locations throughout Epcot, including MouseGear. :)

The hats that he wears are actually the Mouse Ear key chains or Christmas ornament re-decorated. The Santa Hat is a Christmas ornament that I found at the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in MK. It's pretty amazing that it all fits him just right. :)

Here are a few pics from TREX café last Oct..

Out of this world nachos!! They were amazing.

Steak and Waffle Fries.

Chicken Fried Steak

Shrimp and Waffle Fries

Double order of Mac and Cheese

Does anyone have any pics of the seasonal Halloween treats at AK? I'm specifically looking for the pumpkin muffins that are being sold around the parks.

Another bit of a lapse, but continuing with re-posting Figment Goes to the Flower & Garden (& Food) Festival...(Figment really wishes he was at WDW right now going to the F&W Festival!)

Le Cellier (Epcot, Lunch)
The lunch and dinner menu are the same (it's an all day menu), but Figment really likes Le Cellier so he went back for lunch. He had mostly the same items, but there were a few new things. The meal starts with a basket of breads, including the pretzel bread sticks.

DSC_0843_1_zpse3132134.jpg

For his appetizer he had the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup (top), the Cedar Creek Clams (middle), and the "Le Cellier" Lobster Chopped Salad (bottom). The soup is very rich, with a slight bite. It's one of Figment's favorites. The clams were very good. They have a nice garlicky flavor and the broth is really good with the pretzel bread sticks. The salad was the same and still yummy.

For his entrees, Figment had the Grilled Bone-in Ribeye (top) and the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon (bottom). With the ribeye, he substituted the mushroom risotto for the potato wedge. The ribeye was really good and the risotto was yummy. With the Filet Mignon, he substituted the Herb-Parmesan Potato Wedge. The Filet was very tender and yummy.

Brown Derby (Hollywood Studios, Dinner)
Figment had an early dinner at the Brown Derby. It's fun to look at all of the caricatures on the wall and try to guess who they are. Some are easy, others are very tough. The meal starts with rolls and butter.

DSC_0952_1_zps947fe404.jpg

Figment tried the She-Crab Soup with Crab Fritters (top) and Blue Lump Crab Spring Rolls (bottom). The soup was interesting; kind of a cream base with three fritters. It was okay, but not something that Figment would order again. The spring rolls were better.

DSC_0958_1_zps2f6b1868.jpg

DSC_0960_1_zps710f5953.jpg

For his entree, he had the Famous Cobb Salad. When it's brought to the table, everything is in neat rows (top). Then the server mixes everything together (bottom). It's very yummy.

DSC_0980_1_zps9f3685ce.jpg

Figment wasn't going to have dessert, but the server brought his family an anniversary mousse dome. It was really yummy!

Next time...Les Chefs de France and Narcoossee's...

ABC Comissary, MGM, lunch

Our first visit here, we will be back!

Asian Salad with Chicken, Bottle of water, No Sugar Added Strawberry parfait.
*My dd19 liked it. Nothing overly exciting, but tasty.

1/3 lb Angus Cheeseburger, Fries, Fountain drink, Chocolate Mousse
*DH said it was fine. That's pretty good praise from him.

Seafood Platter - Fish and Shrimp, Apple slices, Bottle of Water, Chocolate Mousse
*This was mine and it was DELICIOUS. Wish I had gotten the all shrimp meal. Mousse was good and very rich.

Kid's Chicken Nuggets, Fries, fountain drink and cookie (all side options that are available upon request.)
*they liked them, and ate a lot of them that week.

Seasonal Black Forest Cupcake
*Huge. Tasty. DD10 couldn't finish it all. We noticed restaurants were having these special seasonal cupcake flavors all over the parks.

I haven't gone thru this whole thread but has anyone eaten at Turf Club at SSR? Is it good? Any pics of stuff I should try? Eating there for the first time on 10/21.

I'm glad I am not the only person who liked the ABC Commissary. Got a lot of Boo's and Hiss's when I posted that I liked it.

Les Chefs de France (Epcot, Lunch)
For one of the last meals of the trip, Figment headed to France to say "hi" to Remy. The meals starts with a baguette and butter.

DSC_0045_1_zps981a7e91.jpg

For his appetizers, Figment had the Soupe a l'oignon gratinee (top) and the Bisque de homard (bottom). The onion soup broth and cheese topping has very good flavor, but Figment forgot that the onions aren't caramelized. They're cooked (soft), but not browned, so some of the flavor is missing and the onions themselves aren't that tasty. The bisque is very good and has pieces of lobster.

DSC_0040_1_zps48d9a639.jpg

DSC_0047_1_zpsc7b28460.jpg

While waiting for the entrees to arrive, Remy came by to say "hi". Figment always likes seeing Remy.

DSC_0063_1_zps3fd8408b.jpg

For his entree, Figment had the Plat de Cote de boeuf au cabernet avec pates. The short ribs are fork tender. The sauce is very good and goes well with the noddles.

DSC_0072_1_zpsa8796830.jpg

For dessert, Figment had the Biscuit sable Breton, compote de rhubarbe a l'orange, fraise fraiches, sorbet rhubarbe et fraise (top) and the Profiteroles au Chocolat (bottom). The strawberry dessert was very good; light and fluffy, with fresh strawberries. The profiteroles were very good. They were filled with ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce. These shells with tender on the inside, but still crisp on the outside. Very yummy!

Narcoossee's (Grand Floridian Resort, Dinner)
For the final dinner of the trip, Figment returned to Narcoossee's. Narcoossee's is still Figment's favorite restaurant in Disney World. The food is always excellent and the service is outstanding.

The meal starts with sourdough bread and butter dusted with sea salt.

DSC_0128_1_zps1de51880.jpg

DSC_0133_1_zps57b2feff.jpg

We got to know our server pretty well from our visits over the last few years, so he brought Figment his own drink!

DSC_0137_1_zps93d15884.jpg

For Figment's appetizer, he got the calamari. It was as good as usual, with crispy batter and tender calamari.

DSC_0145_1_zpsab9c3d04.jpg

For his entrees, he had the Steamed Main Lobster (top), the Butter-poached Maine Lobster Tail with Grilled Filet Mignon (middle), and the Crab Cakes with Grilled Filet Mignon (bottom). The lobster was really yummy and excellently prepared. The Filet Nignons were very good and the lobster tail and crab cakes were also really good. (Figment substituted the crab cakes for the lobster tail on one dish due to an allergy.) All of the entrees were excellent.

Then it was time for dessert. Figment decided to have his favorites because this was the last night of the trip. So it was time for the Almond-crusted Cheesecake (top), Mango Sorbet with Fresh Berries (middle), and the Chocolate Torte (bottom). They were all very yummy.

Next time...snack and other goodies from WDW! And then (Figment is saying "finally!"), Figment's review of the Tables in Wonderland Great Movie Ride Dinner Event!

I haven't gone thru this whole thread but has anyone eaten at Turf Club at SSR? Is it good? Any pics of stuff I should try? Eating there for the first time on 10/21.

We ate at The Turf Club a couple of years ago and it wasn't amazing but it was good. I'd go back again. I wish that I knew where my food picture were so that I could post them.

That picture of Remy and Figment is priceless!!!!!

I also love the pic of him with his own drink, that was so sweet.
