Having a "Me Party" - a Disney trip by myself! June 2013 update 9/9

The Best Way to End a Disney Trip

Seeing as how this was my last full day in Disney, I was hoping the evening was better than the morning had been! I took a nap to rest up and then head out to Magic Kingdom for the evening. First thing up was dinner. I kind of hate it when I go from eating lunch, sleeping, to eating dinner haha but that's just the way it worked out! I didn't just nap, I also packed and did some stuff on my computer back at the room. So anyway, I decided to try Tomorrowland Terrace since it was open and serving food. It's usually open "seasonally" which means almost never, so I was excited to try it. I had the Pasta Primavera with Shrimp:

I love pasta, but this wasn't quite as good as I was hoping. I'm not used to having a lot of balsamic vinegar in my pasta primavera. But regardless it was food, and a covered place to eat at that - since it was raining again!

The rain didn't look like it was going to let up, but it was light enough that I didn't want to wear my poncho. But still heavy enough that it was a pain without an umbrella! Sigh. So I hurriedly made my way over to Enchanted Tales with Belle, one of my new favorite attractions :)

I am a Belle girl all the way, and even though this show is really for little kids I love it. The show was cute as always, but the best part was the little boy that played the Beast. At the end he refused to dance with her because he didn't want to hold Belle's hands. Then when they took their individual pictures at the end Belle give him a surprise kiss on the cheek! The boy was horrified at being kissed by a girl and freaked out, running away from her and wiping his face reapeatedly! :rotfl2:

I wasn't sure what to do after Belle. The rain had gotten very light. I had an evening to myself so it made sense to go back and do my favorite ride - Splash Mountain! What difference would it make getting wet when I was already getting wet in the rain? So I did that, and then poked around in some of the shops and did some vinylmation trading. I also wandered around to get some pictures:

And treated myself to a Dole Whip:

(The citrus swirl was far superior, though).

I also caught a dance parade coming through... tons of young dance troupes performing in Disney. That must be such a cool experience! I'm not really a dancer but I do theater and I love performing so I can only imagine getting to do it in Disney!

At about 9:00 I decided to stake out my spot for the fireworks. I had learned that as part of limited time magic, they would be showing the 4th of July fireworks all week starting with tonight! I was so excited to see it! I got a pretty good spot, got some popcorn and a soda, and just waited.

When the fireworks started I was truly blown away. I love Wishes, but this was the most amazing fireworks show I had ever seen. Ever heard the phrase "lit up the night like the 4th of July"? Well, now I truly understand exactly what that means. There were so many fireworks at the finale that it felt like it was daytime!

After that incredible display, it was time to make my way back to AKL with the rest of the crowds so I could get some sleep before having to leave Disney the next day :(

I'm glad your day picked up! Um, I've never heard of balsamic on pasta primavera. :confused3 That shrimp looks like really good quality for CS, though.
That's sooo funny about the little boy with Belle! I bet in a few years he'll be wishing he kept that kiss!

Excellent trip report! Wonderful photos and great info. Such a beautiful wedding. :) would like to read your take on the restaurants next.

Okay, I'm glad it wasn't just me - I didn't think balsamic vinegar was usually found on pasta primavera! It was definitely weird, but the shrimp was good. All the ingredients were good, it was just doused in way too much vinegar. And that boy was so funny! I hope they got some really good photos of that!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do have a dining review up (just have to add Tomorrowland Terrace!) that you can find here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3137718

Thank you, and I have a question for you. Where did you stand to get the photo of Cinderella's Castle reflecting in the water? I really want to get that iconic shot and I don't remember where I would need to stand. Thanks. :)

Haha, I still have yet to see Enchanted Tales, but that story with the little boy is hilarious and priceless. :lmao:
Even funnier that in probably a few years, he'll be begging for a kiss from Belle. :love2:

Haha, in looking at the dance troop photo, it's hard to tell where they end and the regular guests begin. It almost looks like they've completely taken over WDW.

I can't even begin to imagine the 4th fireworks in MK. It must be breathtaking.

Hmm, let me try to retrace my steps ;) I was behind the castle and then went to the right, so toward Adventureland/Liberty Square. I just wandered around that whole side of the castle area and got it from somewhere in there. If you head toward that direction you should be able to find the spot! Hope that helps at least a little!

Great pics! :)

Thank you!

I know haha, he'll regret turning down the chance to dance with Belle in a few years! And there were so many dance girls there that night in the parade. And it seemed like everyone watching was their parents or family!

Wow, that bat picture is amazing! The tiger one is nice, too. :)

I'm glad they replaced your cupcake. Looks lucious! I'm expecting more details in your dining report for sure!

For some reason your fountain pic at HS really intrigues me. I think I haven't seen many pictures of that fountain, for starts, but I also keep trying to make out the billboard in the back. And that guy in the orange shirt somehow nicely balances it out. I dunno, keeps pulling me back, just kind of a neat composition there. :)

4th of July fireworks tend to be spectacular, and I'm sure Disney's are even more so, but all that light comes with a lot of noise. I ever do 4th of July fireworks at WDW, I'm watching Wishes from the Poly. :p

Thank you!

No problem, glad I could help!

Thanks so much! You know, I am really not a big fan of the hat at Hollywood Studios, so to capture the feel of the park i was aiming for something else. The fountain stood out to me there. I'd like to play around more with photos in HS though!

True, they were definitely noisy fireworks! I bet the view from the Poly is great though :)

The End

Sadly, my solo TR has come to an end. The next day I was up and off on the Magical Express around 5:30am. It was an uneventful trip to the airport and flight, and I just slept most of the way home. Once I got back home I got to see my husband, which was nice! He picked me up and then dropped me back home, where I snuck in a nap before having to go to work!

But if you want to continue following my Disney adventures, I have another TR in the works! I was just down in the beginning of August and had some great experiences - including Wild Africa Trek, another Disney wedding, an anniversary photo shoot, and the best character meet and greet I've ever experienced! Curious? Follow along here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?p=49519463

Thank you so much to everyone who has been reading and supporting me, your comments mean the world to me! Let me know if anyone else had TRs or dining reviews going that I haven't read yet and I'll follow along!

Becky, :thanks: so much for sharing this solo TR!!

OK, now gonna pop over to the new one. Best Character Meet and Greet ever... I'm intrigued!

Uneventful flights home are a good thing. :)

Thanks so much for sharing this trip report, I really enjoyed it.

I couldn't agree more, I'm a big fan of uneventful flights ;)

Great trip report. So sad it had to end :(

I'm sad when it ends too... but when one TR ends, another begins!
