At first I was set on my home resort of boardwalk, now I'm questioning it. It will be a 2014 trip. My parents seem to really like downtown Disney, they also like boardwalks, boat transportation and they like to stroll. They liked eating breakfast at the resort and hanging out at downtown Disney during our last visit years ago. Would you try to get Saratoga springs or stay with boardwalk? How many eating options does boardwalk really have ? I usually eat in the parks during my visits. I also think Saratoga is more costly than boardwalk in points for October??

BWI would be a great place to stay. I would think that your parents would enjoy walking through the World Showcase in Epcot, unless they really like shopping more than strolling. One of our favorite things about staying in an Epcot resort is being able to stroll around the boardwalk. The other favorite thing is how close it is to two parks.

There are several breakfast options there for sit down breakfasts. They can eat at Kouzina's or cross the bridge for a nice breakfast at the Captain's Grille at the YC. The Swan/Dolphin also has some good breakfast choices. And then there is the Boardwalk Bakery for the quick breakfast sandwich. :)

Obviously SSR and BWI would pop up as the resorts of choice but don't overlook OKW.

Strolling at OKW is a favorite pastime as the resort is huge but there are not a lot of "things" to see per se as you would have at BWV nor are there a lot of places to eat at OKW.

The boat to DTD is a great ride and by the fall of 2014 most of the construction at DTD should be completed so dining options will be many and varied.

OKW is very relaxing and not as hurried as BWV or SSR.

We did a big family trip last August. We stayed at BC and my parents really liked that area. They could do stuff with all of us, and a few times they went to Epcot for lunch and walked the Boardwalk at night. They went to the EPSN to watch the Olympics etc.

They said they can't imagine not staying in that area in the future!

SSR points fall somewhere between standard and preferred view points at BWV. BWV and BCV would be more difficult to get than SSR in October because of Food and Wine. I agree that you might consider OKW. We stayed there last October and loved it. Olivia's is a great restaurant, and you can take the boat to DTD.
