What movie "flops" do you like??

Vegas Vacation

Was that a flop? I thought it did pretty well - oh, and its my favorite of the series

OT, the last 2 movies my father-in-law has seen at the theatre are Vegas Vacation and The Godfather.

Another vote for the Lone Ranger. I also really enjoyed Alice in Wonderland the Johnny Depp version. I am not sure if it flopped but everyone I talked to hated it or wouldn't watch it. Maybe I am just obsessed with Johnny Depp...hmmm

I guess you and I have the same problem. I loved both TLR and Alice.

"Fandango" is one of my all-time favorite movies. It's aslo one of those films that found new-life when it was released on video. Probably the best example of that phenomenon is "The Shawshank Redemption", whose box office was pretty modest and had to rely on foreign theaters to return a profit.

Shawshank Redemption is my all time favorite movie...just love it.

I also love White Squall (1996) with Jeff Bridges and a very young Jeremy Sisto, Ryan Phillipe, etc. Such a great coming of age movie based on a true story. Whenever I mention it no one has ever heard of it.

Godzilla, the one with Matthew Broderick. But I love big monster movies like that and Cloverfield, Super 8, etc. There's a new Godzilla movie coming out May 2014, I'm super excited to see it!

I saw White Squall. It was good, but I was 16. Didn't understand the greatness of it. I just saw cute boys.

That's so true. I LOVED Hogans Heroes when I was a kid. Caught an episode a few years ago, and it was just awful. Gilligans Island didn't age well for me, either.

Waterworld I thought was very interesting, although I don't think it was technically a flop, it got labeled as a flop, but I don't think Universal would have made an attraction out of it if it was a total flop, I just think it had a huge budget and it didn't make a ton of money, I think at the time it was a record budget.

Blade runner, for obvious reasons
Van helsing was a critical flop but I love it.
13th warrior was ok. As was water world.
Sky captain and the world of tomorrow is a guilty pleasure of mine. I like dieselpunk. (Think Art Deco meets sci fi)

Im probably forgetting some. I still haven't forgiven Hollywood for Sahara though.

We love The 13th warrior. Have it on DVD. And sorry, but we love Sahara as well.

Daniel Craig's in it, what's not to like about the movie.

The Fifth Element. When my DH and I got our new RFID APs we said to each other "mul-ti-pass".

Introduced the kids to this one. They love it as much as I do.

Galaxy Quest was the most perfect parody of Star Trek ever done IMO. Its really a great movie.

One of the best lines of the movie is when Sigourney Weaver's characte rGwen DeMarco says, "Whoever wrote this episode should DIE."

Once again, introduced the kids to this and they both love it. And it is a very quotable movie.

It originally flopped big time... It wasn't till it was revived as a midnight experience that it became a cult classic that still runs in theaters to this day!

It is terrible but so much fun with the props. Lol! They play it every year here for a couple of weekends. There is one guy who goes to every show and makes loud comments at appropriate places that has everyone laughing.

Mine was Hudson hawk. Edited the list to leave films I consider at least okay, not worthy of being a bomb etc. obviously only ones I've seen. Some I haven't seen. Meant to get round to cowboys vs aliens.

Also, I don't consider Sahara a bad film per se, I just can't get over the actors they chose and the book they chose. There were much more interesting books to choose, but I guess they would have required even more cash and the production still needed up costing a fortune and pretty much shattered my hopes of seeing a really good cussler film.
