GF or Poly?

We just got back from the Poly and loved the hotel. But... The kids hated having to walk through the rain to get to between the GCH and the room. Also, our 4 year old and sometimes our seven year old complained there was too much walking to get to the room. I think the complaints had more to do with the sun and heat and being tired but still something to consider.

Obviously you must stay at POLY next because it is the next stop on the monorail circle after CR. Jumping POLY and staying at GF would upset the delicate laws of physics and you don't want to be responsible for that do you? Also throw in the fact that POLY is the best resort on property and the choice is simple.::yes::

Good point!! lol

Oh that's hard! I loved my stays at both!

Man I think ill have to go with Poly.. No GF.. No.. Ahhh!!

Ok I just can't make up my mind..

ASMU/POR Dec 16-22, 2012 & CR Sept 8-15, 2013

I would go with the GF. We've stayed at both and find the lobby at the Poly very crowded and noisy, the restaurants just fair and the volcano pool extremely crowded. The GF lobby is very spacious, the restaurants are all excellent and you can have a fun character meal at 1900 Park Fare. The new GF renovations include a fun new Alice in Wonderland water play area that will appeal to your kids' age bracket. There are also children's activities all day at the feature pool. The GF has a smaller number of rooms and buildings, so there definitely won't be as much walking as there would be at the Poly.

Been to both, had a much better experience at GF. The pool at POLY is very small and gets very crowded, the pools at GF never seemed crowded. Transportation was good at both. We had an unrenovated room at poly, it was worn, and had mediocre cleaning, actually had a dead roach in bathroom upon arrival.

I am the opposite of you. lol. We stayed at the poly this year and loved it and are debating between CR and GF for next trip.

my vote is poly. it was amazing!!!

I agree that the poly in the rain is terrible. This is why I love the GF. The lay out is much better then the poly.

I would say Poly, but just double check the threads on construction, the main volcano pool is rumored to be closing for a long rehab starting in January. This would be a deal breaker for our kids. They are also doing refurbishment on the Grand Ceremonial House - not sure when this start or how it will effect the feel of the resort. I don't tell you this to deter you, but I don't want you to be disappointed if your trip falls during this time.

I just booked Poly (room only) for our upcoming May 1014 trip with the above mentioned risk in mind. I prefer the more relaxed theming of the Poly and like that it's within walking distance of the Epcot Monorail.

But having either the Volcano Pool or GCH down would be a total deal breaker for us.

Should that occur, GF is our backup choice (and in that instance, I'm gambling that there will still be availability at GF when the particulars of the Volcano pool refurb are made public).

I want to book the poly for our 2014 september trip but am worried about construction as well....need to find a back up and it is hard!!

We stayed in Tokelau. If it was raining, we'd cut through the other longhouses (so only a few steps in the rain between each one) and come out right at the GCH. The few drops of rain didn't bother us at all. But then again, we like the Poly best out of the Deluxes because it still has that Disney/South Florida feel of somewhat outdoor entrances (Disney is the ONLY place where we actually like these type of rooms) rather than the whole indoor hotel feel.

Have stayed at both and would pick GF, have never been a Poly fan so I wouldn't spend the money to stay there. It all depends on what theme you like better. The point about the construction is something to consider before you make a choice.

Right- We've done this many times ourselves.

I would go with GF unless you could secure a room close to ttc center or he main building at poly. We had a room near the luau and it was a long hike to ttc, the pool was very crowded at poly as well. Had a great exp at GF
