Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

LOL. I'm seriously reading 3 different resort threads now... CR, WL, and Poly...

I laughed when I read your post but really shouldn't since I subscribe to almost every resort thread :rotfl2:

How does a resort change work exactly? We may be doing a change or two. If we switch resorts will disney move our luggage for us?

Also, we are thinking of staying non-dining plan and not needing tickets before our first night. However, we need to get into parks for a pre rope drop ADR early the next morning. If our second stay will have the tickets and dining plan can we have access to all that already at 8am?!??? Not sure if this can possibly work. :(

Thanks for your help Jeanette! I think AKL sounds fab!! I love all your choices so far!
Thanks Jen! Your Boston trip sounds fab!

I love AKL, but I made a ch-ch-change today:rolleyes1

Jeanette I just had to stop by to say I love AKL and they have wonderful activities for the kiddos too. I love the Flamigoes too :thumbsup2
They had some cool activites there. The girls liked the coloring in the lobby, tracing the animal tracks, and here's a

Jeanette AKL Pool View!! I like it, but will it stick??? 2 weeks to go, that's like an eternity to an RC'er....only time will tell. If we ever stay at AKL, I would do pool view for so many reasons. It's cheaper, there are viewing places all over the hotel. I would be fine with no CL, for it being on another floor as well as the resort being "harder" to get to frequently throughout the day. I think it's a wise choice!
It did stick...and I thought it would...really did:lmao:

Jeanette we loved the AKL pool view. Love the resort.
Darn that DH of mine, he IS SET on POR!!!:yay:

Jeanette: Back home where you belong. :thumbsup2 Ch-ch-changed AKL, huh? Well, you know how I feel about that...

:dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: :dance3:
Another

And LOVE that pic of Miss M, she is awesome:goodvibes

Woohoo! Jeanette :) well if you're not at BWI, I know you'll love AKL!
I'm partial to CL there though since its so economical to add on and we get our use out if it! I love the extra space to hang out in too....
I'm having a hard time deciding BWI deluxe CL or AKL Kidani 1 Bdrm for our Grad trip with DS and his GF in Jan 2015 -- the location of BWI is drawing me there but the washer dryer, extra bathroom, king bed and seperate bedroom is drawing me to Kidani!
I hope there's discounts too -- I usually get a good deal in January (free dining would be great) -- but I can see this trip being costly!
I'd think about DVC rental at Kidani, but I love my daily housekeeping!
Although if we're there for only 5 or 6 nights, I could pay for every other day housekeeping and make due with that!

Marie
It is such a beautiful resort Marie, and Kidani has HUGE villas!

PS...some good news :) DS21 got the job!!!! He's a full time employee at Home Depot!!!!! Working night shift - 10pm to 6:30 am ! I'm so happy he was hired! It's full benefits too! Woohoo!!!
:yay: SO happy for your DS (and YOU!!!):woohoo:

When we stayed at the Pop, I loved the location of our preferred room, but then again we were there for an entire week. I just wasn't sure if it would be worth it for one night.
Probably not worth it for one night, again JMHO!!

DD needed a Brave "Deluxe Weapon" set with realistic sound! ($3.49!), an Oswald tumbler and Disney Nerd zippered cases, (can you tell she's not into princesses? But, now she wants a crown from Main Street, go figure.)
LOVE IT!!!!:cheer2:

The waiting for the 2014 packages is killing me. I want to do accurate dis math and I want to do it today! My sister and I both agreed to cancel our Sept 2013 2 night trip to the halloween party and will plan to go sometime next year. $800 is a lot to spend on a 2 night trip and I would rather apply that $800 towards a longer trip next year. It most likely will be either September or November of next year. Her baby turns 3 in May so she will have to pay for him after that...is it too early to be on the lookout for discounts or free dining for next fall :rotfl:??

Unfortunately I don't think we will be able to schedule a time to go before he turns three, which is a real bummer.

It is likely to rain here all day so I am going to get to spend my day looking, looking, and looking at disney resorts!!
Sounds like a great way to spend a rainy day :upsidedow

Wow! Quiet Friday night I guess...

DH and BIL put up beadboard in DS's room yesterday. I think it looks awesome. So proud of DH and so thankful for BIL's help!! :-)
Nice!!!

Happy Saturday!

Staying indoors with the a/c again another Hot Hot hot day here in Connecticut.

I was showing Bob pictures of the crowds at the Poly for the 4th and reading to him the posts about how bad it was and being the silly man he is He thought I meant it was like that all the time. I really hope it is not crazy busy when we go.
Take care Sheila
Not for a similar price. We need to be at a moderate in order to stay the 8 nights. DH isn't a fan of WL either. But I did check just in case. :-) His major concern is the ease and convenience and time spent going back and forth to the parks from the resort. Yes, we'll have the car, but either we'd be driving everywhere or waiting on a bus. We were so spoiled when we stayed at the Poly...I did explain that we wouldn't be in the same longhouse though even if we did the Poly again since it is the last being refurbished and I want a new room! :-)

Leaning toward GW at CR if it's available still with the discounted price since I could at least get 7 nights out of it most likely. I know they still have rack rate GW rooms open...?

ETA: we could do 8 nights WL Woods View with the regular ddp and pay OOP for the rest of the TS meals we wanted and I *think* pay around the same as what CBR is costing us...need to double check my math for the meals...is the transportation better there than at the mods? I know it's not the monorail, but how often does the boat to the MK run? How long is the trip usually?

LOL. I'm seriously reading 3 different resort threads now... CR, WL, and Poly...

Disney will move the luggage. You just have to drop it off at Bell services. Not sure if you have to go to the only resort to get your tickets, but someone here will know! :welcome: to the RC thread. We would LOVE to hear your plans, and changes of course!popcorn::

You all seem like friendly people in this thread. :)

Not even sure if this is where I belong... but here are our tentative plans.

My husband and I are bringing our 3 kids and and my husband's mom and dad. Kids were too young to remember much of our first trip to DW and in-laws have absolutely never been and know nothing about Disney World. We're so excited to plan an amazing trip for everyone!

The night we arrive we have a reservation at Chef Mickey's. There is a chance there will be free dining starting the day after we arrive and if that happens we'd have to split our stay anyway. So... we are thinking about "doing it up" our first night and all staying at the Contemporary our first night, since we'll be in that resort anyway. Bright and early next morning we have an ADR for CRT, which we could WALK to - which would be amazing. Then we'd switch to our regular resort - probably AoA. We'll buy the DDP or hopefully only have to upgrade the CS dining plan to DDP. I still can't figure out if this would work though. I know we'd have to pay OOP for Chef Mickey's but not sure if we can get that 2 credit CRT breakfast onto our 2nd resort stay DDP so early in the morning. So confused. Not even sure if it would be worth it to stay at the contemporary for one night, especially if we're getting up so early only to check out and hit MK. But it's our first night in DW and we are hoping to see the fireworks from the resort and the light parade on the water after dinner. DH says it will be so neat to let his parents and our girls meet Mickey & friends and SEE the castle, only to be surprised with a breakfast IN the castle early the next morning. I'm so excited. :))))) Just can't figure out what I'm doing for resorts!!

Sorry - Nov. 29.

So did you switch back to POR, Jeanette?? :-)

Sounds like a fantastic plan :cloud9: Maybe you or your DH can hit AoA to check in and get tickets while you get the kids ready. He can check in at 7am (not that you'd want to....) or do a later breakfast at CRT and save MK rope drop for another day. The benefit is extra time to wander the CR resort in it's morning beauty :beach: This thread is open to everyone, all that is required is a love for Disney (and yes, the people here are the BESTEST!!!!):grouphug: How old will the kids be???

Happy to have you here :goodvibes

Jeanette I have never stayed at POR just POFQ in fact I watched the princess and the frog today and longed to go back to POFQ maybe one of these days :goodvibes
Love having the water launches to DTD, plus I have read so much about POR ( I was planning on staying there in 2010) lovely resort choice:thumbsup2

um... prepared to be flamed...

can can i book 2 rooms for the same night?? i'm currently booked at AoA but would like that first night at the contemporary IF we can get free dining which would start our second night. Can I book that room to hold it just in case free dining comes out? Will disney allow me to have 2 rooms reserved for the same people??

We love the WL boat to MK, a fun, relaxing way to get there. They run about every 20 min like busses. I've never had a long wait. They run 2 boats, the smaller open one, like the Poly/GF boat, and a larger Cruiser. Plus the boat to CR too, handy for ADRs. The bus service to the other 3 parks is fine. Usually busses run well. They share with either GF or FW depending on route.

We take mid day breaks, in afternoons, ESP in August to get out of the worst of the mid day heat, and go for a swim back at the resort. I've never had a problem doing thie either at a moderate or deluxe.

No flames, but I'm not sure of the answer, somehow I don't think they would allow double booking. Maybe someone else will have a definite answer for you.

jeanette POR is our fav moderate. Are you requesting AB or Mansion section? I love walking around the river paths, so pretty.
Love Bob Jackson show, the boat to DTD, horse & carriage rides, and the make your own pasta bar at food court is the best! In the morning it's an omelette bar.
One time we wandered over to the Fishing Hole just to look. Such a peaceful pretty spot, and the CM was a delight to speak to.

Welcome to the flame free thread! :cloud9:

These days it is pretty it is pretty much impossible to double book - Disney now has their system so well set up to trace a guest that I could not even book a room when my name was the second guest on another reservation. It also found me when I was booked through a TA when I decided I still preferred to handle my own ressies but had not yet canceled with the TA. (Silly me to think after 30 yrs of handing my own reservations that I thought I would be comfortable with a TA for even a few minutes :rotfl2: ...the draw of a Disney Gift Card hooked me.;) ). :thumbsup2

That actually just happened to me. Originally in December we booked a bounceback to stay at Poly for dates in August. Well in March, I found a great deal with a travel agency but Poly wasn't included. It was either YC of GF but the savings was even more substantial than our bb so I put down a deposit through the TA.

The reason why I didn't cancel the first one was because I had gotten the trip insurance through Disney since our trip is in hurricane season. I have never gone through a TA so I didn't think twice about the insurance. I knew if I out right canceled Poly, I would lose that $200 so I held on to the reservation to see if there was any to not lose the money.

I just called and pushed back the Poly dates to December to buy me more time. I will be going back for Princess Half weekend and I want to stay Poly to celebrate my first half. Most likely I will end up cancelling though since I plan on getting an AP this August and will probably book my February weekend with an AP rate.

Long story short, Disney never flagged it for me. In fact both reservations would show up at the same time on My Disney Experience and it listed all 4 of us on both as well as both sets of tickets. I am not sure if it was a fluke since my direct reservation (numbers and letters) was a different than my TA reservation (all numbers like a dining reservation)? I thought for sure when i linked the TA reservation, that it would flag both at the same time the way it does if dining overlaps. It never did but at the same time, I was worried that since I had all my dining book, as soon as I cancelled or changed my hotel reservation, that all my dining would go with it.

I hope this doesn't read as trying to "cheat" the system in any way...just letting you know my situation...

And I just have to say that I've seen this thread pop up often when I'm on the resort boards but on the mobile app, 96 pages is a lot to read! I am about 15-16 pages and realize that I don't have to be ashamed of my resort changing ways!

The first three trips, we picked a resort and stuck to it....

Then this last December trip came up and between August and September, I changed resorts....4 times...POFQ to WL to Poly CL to GF. I thought I was crazy to keep searching the deals but I now realize I'm not.

This trip we only switched once...Poly to GF. We only did GF for 3 nights in December and never really "stayed" on the grounds since we had 4 days to pack in as much holiday fun as possible (think Clark Griswold on vacation!) The kids are excited to go back though since we can now try the pools out and looks like beach access is back open.

We have friends staying at the Poly who offered to watch our kids one night so hubby and I can go out. Now on arrival day...Victoria and Albert's, here we come!

Anyone know what's going on with the WDW Booking site this morning? No matter what dates I put in, only Swolphin comes up. Are they switching over to 2014 packages a bit early maybe? (Thought that was 10 July.) I was just trying to check rack rate availability for BLT/CR in August to get a sense if the military rate might be available if they are available at RR.
