I am shocked at how Dead it is considering it is Fourth of July week!!!

My daughter just got back Saturday after a week at POP and she said the same thing. She said the hotel seemed about 1/2 full, she visited AoA and said it seemed the same. She said her and DH would go to the parks at rope drop, leave about 2 and come back to a different park around 5 or 6pm. She said on even the big ticket items, they were able ride them 3-4 times each with little (15 min max) or no wait at every park (eventhough touring plans showed 9's every day or their trip) :scratchin
They were there for 6 days/5 nights and on the last day they didn't even go to a park, just hung out at DTD since they had been to every park 3 times each. She said they have never had so much relaxation/hotel time on any of their past Disney World trips but they LOVED it!

They were able to get away with it.

I was told by Disney cashier when I bought the mug "it is only refillable at your resort"- end quote. If I wanted to get away with it I would have brought one of the ten that I have at home with me. Lol. Maybe she told me bad info but I refilled right in front of dp at Pop snd was not told any different. Can anyone confirm?

I am curious about the 60 percent off... That sounds awesome!!

DD is a CM and that is a deal they are offering to CMs right now. There is limited availability but POP is so dead, we were able to book a room with that discount on one day's notice! How crazy is that??!! CMs can pretty much get 50% off any time...but they increased it to 60% with limited availability. If you can make it work with where you want to stay, it is a great deal!!

This is accurate!! Whoever told them that the mug they bought in the park for $5 is refillable at the resort is definitely mistaken!! Those are not refillable at all and are strickly a one time use sovenier mug. I have purchased a few of them in the past simply because we liked the pattern on the mug. If guests are refiilling them at their resort then 'Yes, they are getting away with it' so to speak because that was not the intent of those mugs. HTH!!

I have a question.....

Do they play movies outside in the evening? If so, what location?
I have a preferred room booked, but I would like to avoid being right by the movie.

Movies are shown on the lawn right outside Classic Hall between the Hippy Dippy Pool and the Goofy (what used to be) Jets area, right by the yo-yo. I have also recently seen it set up on the concrete area between the pool and the kiddie pool.

Thanks for the info.
We have requested building #5 (60's building) or building #6 (70's building).
Are the movies loud if you are in your room?

How deep are the pools. I am thinking of my husband being able to get his swim laps in. Computer pool being best? No real weird shape and easy to measure.

We fully intend to bring a bottle, or 2, to unwind after a long and fun day at the parks. DH and I will enjoy it after the kids pass out. :)

Seems like a great plan! :cool1:

Thank you! I'm sure it will....so far it already has. I am like a kid though trying to contain my excitement. Lol

Me too... I don't think I'll ever grow up. :rotfl2:

We are a party of 5 & booked 2 rooms. Requested lake view 50's. :cool2:

:yay: Lots of pixie dust for getting your requests!

So I am ended up at POP for a few days...I am shocked at how Dead it is considering it is Fourth of July week!!!
I was able to book a room last minute (like as in to check in the next day!!) with a great discount (60% off)!!! The food court has been empty when I've gone there to refill my mug. The one section that makes the nachos wasn't even operational two days (don't know about today?) And when I called and requested to extend my stay by a day it wasn't a problem at all!!! Didn't have to change rooms or anythig!! They even gave me my same great discounted room rate! Waahoo!
Saw something interesting tonite though. I'm in bldg 1. when we got back to the hotel around midnight, there were two Orange co sheriff cars & 4 officers in front of our bldg with a gentleman. Shortly thereafter, a third showed up. After that they started taking pics of a guy...his face from the front and profile pics. They were here for probably at least an hour and a half. But anyway...it was very interesting to wonder was going on!!!

:wave2: stitchlovestink!! did you just go again?? After your 2 week June stay?? That's wonderful for you! (and that discount :thumbsup2) :goodvibes

Nice!:goodvibes I hope that late August will be the same as this! Although we never seem to have that experience of 15 min waits with the popular rides. Oh well, I will be happy if I can just make Disney this summer.... My DD is in marching band and any other parents out there who have or have had kids in the program you understand totally the committment it brings.

Deepest point 4' 9" ... and perhaps the bowling pin pool (it's longer shape might be best?) ... or computer and hippy dippy.... assume he would be out there in the early AM when there is less chance of a lot of people using the pools. :goodvibes

PS and where's your descriptive siggy term?? hmm... how about "fabulous" momma?? :)

Truly we love POP, it really gives you the Disney feeling being there. We aren't fancy people and we aren't in the room enough to justify the additional cost. Plus with AoA just across the lake it is fun to go over there and emerse yourself in the giant movie sets. We have stayed at POP our past 7 trips, prior to that we have stayed at CBR, CSR, ASsp, ASmo. We have not ever stayed anything above moderate. POP is our Disney home away from home and it has always been a great experience for us whether we take our grandkids or it's just the 2 of us!

We have stayed deluxe and moderate and find pop to be our home as well. I don't really care about the room as long as it is clean. This will be our 5th year in a row. I really have no desire to do the RDP it is to complicated for our touring style. We like to wing it. I do like a couple of TS meals but we just pay OP for a couple still works out to be cheaper than tips.

Yes, we love the POP:love: We also are not fancy people. We also love AKL and will be there in January. The POP is Disney fun to us. We have stayed there before without kids and we had a great time! We are really really hoping for a king bed. I will ask when we check in if our room has one, and if not I will see if they have any available. It is DH birthday on check in day, so we are so excited to be there.

We love POP too..it's just a great fun place! :goodvibes

We're also not fancy people and just love Pop. With the money we save on accommodations, we can have nicer meals. (Our upcoming trip is to celebrate DD's graduation, so we're splurging a bit and staying at BWI, but I consider Pop our "go to" resort.)

Sandi, your BWI trip will be awesome!! What a special time for you and DD

Hoping that one of these days our trips will cross paths again! :goodvibes

POP is the only place our DD or myself will go to. My DD doesn't think that any if the mods or deluxes' look like Disney. We always stay in the '50's area.

Can't wait till Nov 17th to check in. Only 136 lonnngggg days to wait.

We just got back from 9 nights at Pop and I hate to say it but I really was disappointed.
We stayed there before and liked it but this time it felt very understaffed in the food court. No matter what time we were there each counter had long lines with normally only two people working the counter- and you had to wait quite a while for your food. We also felt it wasn't consistent. We ordered the same things at different times and each time was different. We may have noticed this more though because we were on the QS plan so we ate a lot of counter service.
Our housekeeping was also very inconsistent. The first few days it was great and one day we even got a note from our housekeeper thanking us for being so generous. (that was kind of weird but sweet also) But then there were days we didn't even get one soap or shampoo in either of our rooms? (we had connecting rooms)
I did want to throw in some good as well though---we met some really nice cast members and my DD really liked the kiddie pool.

:yay: What a great time to visit! :flower3: And the 50s rock!

Sorry POP had disappointing moments for you in comparison to your last trip. Sometimes I wonder if the staff is still getting used to the new menu changes and / or cutbacks by Disney in staff... As to the housekeeping issue, you can always call for additional supplies; we have and the response has been quick.

Happy that you did have some good memories from your trip. Hopefully your next stay will be more magical!

Planning a trip back to pop for nov 29 - dec 5 2014. It will be our second stay there.

Awesome!! :cool1: Right after Thanksgiving ... You will be seeing the holiday decorations up. :thumbsup2
