A Princess Birthday Surprise at POR w/ Royal Room Included...TRex for Lunch

Day 2
An Early Morning at POR…

As many of you know, our family likes to rise bright and early (or at least some of us ;) ). When I woke up, it was still dark outside….so I got a quick shower then sneaked outside to take a look at POR.

Our room was located right by one of the quiet pools…

So back in I went to make sure the gang was ready to go grab a bite to eat! When we exited our Royal Room Suite :snooty: (not really, but sounds good ), the sun was finally coming up, and I could tell it was going to be a beautiful day!!!!

I was really, really beginning to like this resort even more! The landscape was totally inviting (not shocking….it’s Disney, right?!)

The walk over to the main building wasn’t bad at all. It was actually super refreshing and quite relaxing. However…if there would have been rain, there would have been issues!

Stop kids! More pictures!! :teeth:...

The bridge across the river was a very short hike from our room…again, very convenient and another reason I loved our location! :thumbsup2

This is a look back across the river at the Magnolia Bend Area….

And this is where we are headed for a bite to eat….

Believe it or not….we are excited and having a blast ::yes::I look as if I’m not…I know.

No pics of breakfast…in too big of a hurry!

Since we were brand new to this resort, and it was a last minute trip…I didn’t do my usual research. And since I didn’t do my usual research, we got a bit lost on our way to the bus depot. Ok, maybe not lost….I like to say we took the road less traveled……what should have been a 2 minute stroll….took like 10! But that’s ok. We were able to see some more of the resort. No worries, my camera was right by my side! I think this was Alligator Bayou Area….

Almost there!!! I can see the bus stop ahead!!! Finally! Bill and I were laughing at ourselves for getting lost….what else can ya do?! Right?! The kids didn't find it quite as humorous, though :confused3

Up next….a very early morning at MKs Rope Drop and the NEW Fantasyland!

The grounds do look beautiful. :goodvibes How did you find the food at the food court for breakfast??

I'm joining in! Looks like a beautiful room and a beautiful resort to stay at. We've never stayed there but I have looked into staying there before. We instead stayed at CSR and AKL-KV on this past trip. Can't wait to read more!

Beautiful early morning pics Heather!!! You're not the first to get lost on por grounds  at least its a scenic stroll!!

It almost looks too early for breakfast, what time was it?

The resort looks really inviting :)

Not lost, exploring!

Great pics, it really is my fav moderate. We love it there! The grounds are beautiful. Too funny about getting lost, the bus stop is right behind magnolia terrace ;).

great pictures! I am so excited to see what you did for your princesses birthday, we are doing the same kind of thing for our daughter's 7th in September.:thumbsup2

Hi Heather!

Have to go back to the beginning to catch up ... your pix are beautiful as always! :goodvibes I love rising ealy and walking around the resort, and you captured it well.

Back to read!! :flower3:

Food was fine...just another food court ;) The service was good and everything was very clean. There were 2 Brazilian groups that came in after us. Glad we got there early because it was packed when we left!! ;)

:welcome: POR is definitely worth a visit, even if it's for a short trip. No real negatives for us.

Beautiful early morning pics Heather!!! You're not the first to get lost on por grounds  at least its a scenic stroll!!

While Bill and I were laughing, the kids were complaining..."We're gonna miss Rope Drop!!! We're gonna miss the bus!!" Guess they wanted to get there early.....they get it honest :rolleyes1

It looks earlier than it was.... sunrise wasn't until 7:15am. When I woke up, I thought it was super early in the morning because it was so dark outside....thought I had a few more hours to sleep until I saw the clock :scared1:

Leave it to us to get lost! After breakfast we went straight to the bus stop, not back to the room....well...almost straight  Really not sure the route we took. We definitely took in the sites!

Hi there! :wave2: Since it was such a last minute trip, I couldn't get BBB...of course I tried to no avail. That would have been perfect, then lunch at CRT. Oh well! Instead we did lunch at BoG. Is your trip a surprise??

Hiya Janet:goodvibes Wish there would have been more time to stroll around. There was a ton of stuff I didn't get to see....had no idea how big POR was!!!!

The grounds do look beautiful. :goodvibes How did you find the food at the food court for breakfast??

They have a great Make Your Own Omelette station for breakfast, then for lunch & dinner it turns into a make your own Pasta Bar ( or salad). We love both. Sometimes even when we aren't staying at the resort, and if planning a DTD night, we will go to POR for the Pasta :goodvibes then hop the boat to DTD.

Hi :wave2: I must say this has been a wonderful way to spend a HOT morning .... drinking my coffee and reading your TR. :surfweb: I love POR! Wish I could add a couple of nights there in Sept .... I'm retired .... who says vacation can only be 2 weeks! :rotfl2:

Do it Linda!!

It going to be a hot one here too! We've gone from cool & rain to hot & sunny over night!

ignore the 81 on the gps....it lies :rolleyes1
No problem - I'll ignore the 70 speed limit, too:p

joining in! After years of lurking under my wife's name, i finally decided to get in on the action. I'm heather's other half :thumbsup2 the financial backer for her disney obsession.

Bill

Doesn't it feel good to finally come out from behind Heather's shadow and set the record straight? Congratulations on coming out of lurkdom and multi-quoting, too:thumbsup2

out of the 3 kids, this is the one who will rise and shine at 5am to go fishing…no lie. He loves it!!! ::yes::

Perfect - he can start taking those early morning WDW photos for you and you can sleep-in;)

notice i don’t catch many fish....just a horseshoe crab :rolleyes1….i’m basically there for moral support.

Is that how Bill feels at WDW?

faith reeled this one in herself! And proud, she is!!!

You go, girl!!

i was going to surprise bill with a disney fishing excursion on our next vacation, but he made the comment that it's too expensive for what you get :confused3 guess i won't be doing that

It's catch and release and in a little lake:fish:. I suspect that can't even come close to where Bill can fish near home - for free:beach:. You'll just have to go to the spa instead of sending him on a "fishing excursion," Heather.

Amazing TR, as always and can I use vacation as an excuse for my tardiness? (Even though I came back a while ago:flower3:)

Our trip is a surprise. It was originally going to be in Nov. but we moved it to her birthday for a surprise present. We are doing CRT in the AM with 2 other families we know who happen to be going at the same time. No BBB this time though. Can't wait to read more!

Love those pics in the morning. :goodvibes

Thanks :goodvibes

How the heck did we miss that???? Guess we were in a hurry :upsidedow We didn't eat lunch or dinner there since we were at the park. Thanks for the info! Hopefully there will be a next time at POR:thumbsup2

Linda....you are queen of splits :worship: And you are retired....:confused3...what's 2 more days in the big scheme of things????

Glad you came over to the TR :goodvibes

Was 70 the speed limit on I-95??? :scratchin....had no idea.

You're excused, my friend. We always enjoy your sense of sarcasm...I mean humor  ;)

Well...duh! All I had to do was read your ticker that says "...shhhh" :upsidedow LOVE, love, love CRT!!! Even though it's pricey, it's a great experience for any princess. My boys think it's a great place to eat, too. And how fun to meet your friends there!! How are you going to tell her you're going to Disney?

Beautiful morning photos Heather! I love when the mist rises off the water like that. So lovely!

I just wanted to set the record straight. I was not driving the vehicle. The safety of my family comes first.

Our departure was not as rapid as I wanted it to be….but oh well. We hit I-95…..full speed ahead! :car: (fyi...for all the past TR followers...no more Ferrari Van) Our ETA was 8:14pm. On the way down, I told the kids they had to watch Princess and the Frog - they still weren’t aware of our Royal Room. Ignore the 81 on the GPS....it lies :rolleyes1

I'm out of lurkdom. But I'm not a master of multiquoting. My better half is walking me through it. This stuff is time consuming. I think Heather has too much time on her hands ;)

Bill

:scratchin Well Bill, think of it this way, if Heather didn't have time for the boards, you never would have met us :rolleyes1

Since the GPS was broken, the map may have been actually of Montana and the speed limit was actually 80, and you were only 1 mph over? (Was that sarcasm or humor?)

In defense of Heather Andretti, I'm sure she would say that everyone was passing her. (It's 95 for gwarsh sakes.) Also in defense of Heather, if she didn't move at a fast clip, just think how much more delayed this TR would be? Her virtual friends can't handle more TR delays. The delay proves she has little to no "free time." Please start playing the lottery, Bill so you can quit working and schlep the kids around all day and we can read more TRs:goodvibes

:scratchin Well Bill, think of it this way, if Heather didn't have time for the boards, you never would have met us :rolleyes1
:rotfl:
He's honored, I'm sure. And if he's anything like my DH, he's in shock at all our post counts:surfweb:
