ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: June 2013

So, I logged into my email about 1 month ago and I see an email titled "Disney Destinations Confirmation". My DH is a CM but we live in CT and he has NEVER reserved a Disney vacation without my input. I'm the Disney nut...not him. So, I call him at work and say, "What have you done?". His response: "there is an awesome CM discount out for this summer, so I thought why not?". He then tells me that he booked 10 days at WL CL because that was the only CL available under the discount.

Well, we just went to WDW in April and we've never done 2 trips in one year. But, he sells me on the fact that it will be really affordable with the discount.

The next day he calls me from work and says that AKL CL is now available and since that has a bigger pool maybe the kids would like that better. I say "OK".

Then, a week later he calls me and says, "Guess what??!! The Poly is now available under the discount. But, it's not CL. It is TPV. I know you've always wanted to stay there, do you want me to change the reservation again?" I say, "yes, definitely!"

Well, now this past weekend, he makes one more call and guess what? Now, CL at the Poly is available under his discount, but the only category available is CL TPV. "What do you want me to do?" he asks. And then he adds, "Come on, when will we ever be able to afford Poly CL TPV?? I can't guarantee that I'll ever get a discount like this again." And so.....

We are headed to Poly CL TPV in just over one month from now!!! And, our 'affordable trip' has turned into a bit of a splurge even with the discount. We could never afford that room at rack rate!

So, now I'm off to read all of this thread. It is our 1st time at the Poly and I am super excited! But, I'm also a little nervous because it's still pretty expensive even with the discount.

So, help me out Poly lovers...tell me that it will be money wisely spent! Of course it will...right??

I say it's worth the money!!! We have never stayed CL but absolutely love the Poly!!! This September will be our 4th stay at the Poly.

You're going to love the Poly.....it's an amazing resort .

Just made my final payment this morning, we will be at the Poly in 45 days!

We arrived at the Poly last night for our first ever stay. First impressions... It's fabulous! Cm's have all been lovely.
We are in a refurbished room in Tokelau. The room is very nice and huge! The only slight thing is we would have like a balcony but we are on the first floor. I had requested Tokelau and a full balcony, they offered to move us in a few days to the second floor but advised a young tour group are arriving and we would be right next to them so we declined!
Anyway, we are here for 18 days and have already had dole whips and watched wishes from the beach, theme parks start today...

Does anyone know about what time the DCL bus picks up to head to the port? We sail on 8/22 and the only Ohana breakfast reservation available is 8:35. Think we can finish before the bus picks up? Thanks!!!

We are so excited to be returning to the Poly this coming October and are wondering if Eugene is still the chef in CL. He had just started when we were there last and we found him to be so nice and helpful. It would be great to see him again this trip.

I can hardly wait to watch wishes from the CL lounge. No other lounge can compare!!!

Yes, the fabulous Chef Eugene is still there. He's like family to us. It's always so nice to see familiar faces when you check-in!

We are arriving the same day and leaving on the 12th.

Look at tikimans site for the building request. What some like, others don't. I prefer Tokelau and would hate to stay on the side close to the marina but that is me.

I made the request for Tokelau after looking at the Tikiman site.

At captain cooks there is a microwave, right? I seem to remember there was one on the past few times I went.

How about a toaster?

And while I asking dumb questions, does the fridge still get cold that it will freeze an ice pack in the way back but not freeze the milk up front? I remember it did that the last time.

Oh and the ice in the long houses-is it made out of drinkable water?

Ok that was more then 1 dumb question.

I am here at the Poly now (loving Hawaii). Wanted to update everyone on 'Ohana. We enjoyed breakfast at 'Ohana on 6/25. Pictures were taken outside in front of the sign. I guess the inside pictures with Stich didn't even last a month!

You should have enough time, but you might try checking on the DCL cruise forums for pick up times. We are taking our first DCL cruise in December so I have been reading threads over there lately and this has been asked a few times (although I can't remember what the time frame is). I want to say they pick up around 11:00 or 12:00, but I'm not sure.

I know there is a microwave, but I'm not sure about a toaster. I can't answer about the fridge as we don't use it, but hopefully someone will be able to answer about that as well as give a definite answer about the toaster .

Sunday - bacon wrapped chicken, raspberry/brie pastry, turkey salad
Monday - sushi, Ohana salad, tuna spoon
Tuesday - conch fritters, vegetable cornucopia (I must be missing one here!)
Wednesday - sticky wings, pot stickers, green bean salad
Thursday - crab rangoons, meatballs, pasta salad (and rumblings of ribs!!)
Friday - beef wellington, mango/guava empanadas, kim chee

I'm missing Saturday . Of course, every night they have a selection of cheeses and crackers, vegetables and dip, pineapple (and maybe other fruit?), hummus and pita bread, and kids' choices like pb&j uncrustables.

I know these are all subject to change, but I remember having the beef wellington on a Friday night back in Sept 2011 (it was fantastic ), so maybe they don't really change them all that frequently?

Thank you and YUM! We will do the Poly portion of our stay Sunday - Thursday so we will get to try quite a few things.
