Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

Kook -- your comment about going to Epcot instead of eating at DHS was what I was thinking about last night...it's a resort day for us, but HS has EMH that night...maybe we could eat in Epcot though first and then take the boat to HS? Hmmm...

We personally love BRG

Good Morning RCers! :surfweb:

In honor of dfarner's Grand trip .....

That's quite a circle-wow! Isn't it something how Disney makes our choices soooo hard? All of their resorts are tempting and awesome in their own way.

Tell me about it! When I was a kid, there were 3 choices....Poly, CR and offsite! Well, until they built the lovely GF in 86ish....then we could go with 4. A much simpler time in our lives;)

Last year we were originally booked at POR, then moved to a pirate room at CBR. Then I upgraded us to BC, which I did love, but it wasn't ideal for us that trip. This year I was convinced we'd stay at POFQ, but then booked us at CR-GW. Then I wanted a split stay with AKL, but DH wouldn't agree to it, so then I talked him into AKL for the whole trip and added a night. But then after DS said he still really wanted to stay in a pirate room and DD saw videos of the pool and kept saying "more yo yo pirates" I switched one more time and added another night. We're in a pirate room at CBR. Almost full circle. ;-)

..... :faint: I need some coffee after reading that one!

Thank you. My DH has been talking a bunch about the monorail resorts, so I've been thinking a lot about being over near MK. The Grand will be wonderful, but I'm nervous about the construction. The Beach Club was a surprise for my family, and the Grand is as well. Nothing like flying by the seat of my pants!:rolleyes1

Absolutely!!! :thumbsup2 Flying is great! The way to go! Who am I kidding?....I'm the biggest most obsessive planner ever No worries about the construction...seriously. My parents were at the GF for a week back in December and said it was fine. They requested to be far away from it and their location was perfect!

We skipped the oysters, seeing that they might have come from the James River:laughing:, but the soft shell crab are in season which made DD happy:

Looks fabulous!!!! I'm always up for a great meal especially when it involves seafood! And fyi....Disney Shirt:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 What's a vacation without a little WDW???

That is tag-worthy.

Not to sound completely ignorant....but what does that mean?:confused3 Yes, I asked. I consider myself fairly intelligent, but I'm drawing a blank.

Is VWL calling your name? Have your tried BLT? That is the best DVC, IMHO.

Not sure WHO is calling my name. I'm totally confused. Don't you see...I'm trying to expand my Disney horizons by getting away from the MK resorts....but there's a strong force pulling me back. I have looked at the WLV but they seem so very far away from the main pool. Haven't looked into BLT, yet. We really want to try a villa for our family of 7....but don't want to stay at OKW or SSR.

It's nice to be welcomed back - thank you!

:goodvibes

Shelia....so glad to hear yall made it to the dr!!!!

Ok....funny story. Some of you might remember me talking about my husband being the DisBoard Lurker. Well, get this. The man is out of town on business, and as I'm checking my TR....guess who shows up??!!! THAT MAN!! Yes, my hubby makes his very first post on the TR. I started cracking up laughing when I saw the "name" he chose.....good grief :upsidedow He did eventually call and ask for help with his ticker. I asked him if he had been drinking!! :drinking1 (he's really not a drinker at all....but I was wondering) He tells me he's gonna "highjack" my thread - see, I told yall he's a lurker...he knows the lingo.

Anyway....back to reading!

So as excited as we all were for PBH, I have an AP that expires in August...and I want WDW!!! 2014 Spring Break will be Universal. Since a split stay would be a lot of money for tickets....DH let me pick...and I picked WDW. Since he wanted a laid back resort, I picked WL, and I made him happy...:cool1:

SueThat furbaby is ADORABLE!!!!

Sheila:hug:

AND a HUGE :grouphug: to ALL!!!!!

Thank you, Heather, for the picture!! I remember one of our early trips going with my mother and sister and staying at some roach coach motel out on the expressway. The room rate was like $25 a night, and we thought we were livin' large because we were "at Disney". We took the ferry over from the TTC and I thought how much I would love to stay at the Poly and Contemporary. Now I won't stay anywhere else but on the monorail!! LOL!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. You all have already made me feel better about my last minute change. I posted on the Grand Floridian thread that I will try to get some pics up next week. I'll only have my Iphone, no laptop, but if someone PMs me with their email address I'll forward them on.

Woo Hoo to those getting out of school today. I'm a teacher...we've been out for just under a month, but we go back a lot sooner than you all do. Yeah for the last day of school!!

Everyone have a great day!

Everyone have a great day!

Me, too:teacher: That's one reason we usually do our Disney trips at the end of May or first of June....not quite as hot and the crowds aren't too terribly bad.

I was the same way. Growing up, we went to WDW pretty much every year, sometimes twice each year, but we never stayed at a monorail resort, we visited them, but I always wanted to stay on the monorail line. Now my DH and I have stayed at the Poly 3 times now, going back in 76 days, no, I'm not counting, LOL. I had thought about staying at BC for this trip but I just can't bring myself to stay anywhere besides a monorail resort, especially the Poly, haha.

I'm sure you will love the GF!!

Hi everyone!! Welcome to Summer!!!

Morning everyone! Well...I've decided to add another night to our vacation for a better flight home the next day. I just couldn't stomach the idea of leaving AKL at 5 in the morning..ugh!! So...I thought maybe I would try a new resort for a day and night before our flight out. Was thinking Coronado or POFQ..not much of a price difference for what I chose, now just need to pick one. Plus it would be nice to check out for future trips....:rotfl:....Thoughts from all of you would be awesome to help me decide! Thanks in advance! :)

Can't WAIT to hear how you love it there! :hyper:

I can't wait to stay there. A girl I grew up with (well she graduated hs with my brother, and I was friend's with her brother) just got back from a stay at the AKL last week. They loved it!! She keeps telling me that I am going to love it.

You WERE a good girl! :thumbsup2 I'll have to smell the cucumber melon if they still have it when I go back. I nabbed this wallflower doodad with a scent called "Suntan" .... I. am. in. love! Of course, now that I nabbed the wallflower bulb thingie, I don't have the actual receptacle it goes in. (I just have it tipped over into one of my reed diffusers at the moment.) :beach:

That reminds me....I have this green frog clip-on thingy for my car from B&BW that I need refills for.

To me that makes more sense than 21. I just don't understand the logic behind at 18 someone being mature enough to enlist in the military, yet not enough to drink a beer.

Just waving hi to everyone. Woke up with a cold this morning and besides making the kids a gluten free pizza crust and a pot roast for dinner I didn't move from the couch :( will catch up when I'm feeling better.

Hope everyone is having a great day :)

I hope you are feeling better today.

Is there an award for the Dis'er that is most indecisive? I have been booked at Beach Club for months, and as excited as I've been, still can't get the monorail resorts out of my mind. Well today, with way too much time on my hands, I moved us to the Grand Floridian. We check in next Friday!!!

:welcome: The GF is the one resort my DH talks about really wanting to stay at. One of these days we're going to make it happen.

Smart you are....trying to be financially responsible:thumbsup2 I constantly remind the kids that a money tree does not grow in the back yard :upsidedow

I wish it did

We skipped the oysters, seeing that they might have come from the James River:laughing:, but the soft shell crab are in season which made DD happy:

It looks like it's trying to reach out and grab her. I have never had soft shell crab.

Good Morning

S.O.B. :rotfl: Bob did make it to his Eye Dr. Appt. yesterday and good thing too. I have been noticing his eyes seem to be getting worse again. Two Years ago he had cataract surgery on both eyes and went to wearing glasses all the time to not needing them at all. By last year he needed to get glasses for reading. Now it seems he can see close up and far away but his middle distance is not good and he has to go back to wearing them all the time.

Now I kinda think maybe he brought this on himself since after the surgery he was suppose to use eye drops daily but stopped after a few weeks. :(

Sounds like my DH. After his lapband surgery, he was supposed to go for weekly fills. Well they didn't put anything on his skin to numb the pain and he said they had to stab the needle in pretty hard to get through the plastic of the fill area. It hurt him enough that he could make it through a short doctor appt, the drive home, and then went straight to bed for the rest of the day. He stopped getting them, and now he's back to his pre-surgery weight (at least).

Good Morning RCers! :surfweb:

Personally, I really like the look of Coronado.

Well I'm just really getting my day started. A guy really ticked me off in game last night and I didn't fall asleep until about 4:30 AM. I don't know how many times I have to tell this person that I do not do operations with children for him to get it through his thick skull. It's like he's trying to bully me into it. I guess he's never tried this with a strong willed, hard headed, Texas woman before, because he doesn't realize it won't work with me. I'm seriously so ticked off about it, that if the DH gives me the ultimatum that I have to give in and do Ops with this kid, or lose my WDW trip, I'll get on the phone and cancel my WDW trip.

Willows POFQ and CSR just happen to be the only 2 Mods we ever stayed at, we loved them both staed at POFQ 2X in fact but I think now that CSR has the Business Class CL it is a clear winner. Preferred Castias 1 is a great Location too.

wookie Men can be such Big Babies ! So sorry Your DH has gained back the weight.

No trip canceling !

Hi Wookie! YOU'LL LOVE AKL!!!! It's definitely home for me, and my family favourite resort thus far!!!
I am having a hard time deciding between heading over to Kidani to try it out, minus club level OR staying at BWI next January 2015 -- such a hard choice!

Ginny - I think I agree with you so far :) BWI deluxe club level room is looking like the slight edge this trip -- I think location will be of paramount importance to my teens....and might just be the reason to go with BWI/ they are night owls, and I know they will want to hit the parks on their own so I think location/ and being on the boardwalk might be the best place for us in this case.

My DS 21's GF is graduating tonight!!! / my DS bought her a lovely corsage for the event and poor guy, he went to give it to her today and it's browning around the edges of the petals on the rose/ also the flowers are beginning to brown, and he just picked it up last night/ kept it in a cool spot, but the flowers are not doing well. Thankfully where he bought it is owned by a lady who is a Teacher Assistant at DS's gf's school -- and she's agreed to make a new one and bring it to Grad, as she's headed out to Grad tonight too -- saved the day!! :) DS was getting grumpy when he saw the state of his gf's Corsage! :p

ONE more graduation to get through next year! My DS17's and then we will be having the time of our lives on the grad trip in our favourite place!! :) I can't wait....I see the ticker going down daily -- it's at 587 days today!!! but I know how fast time flies, so I'm not too concerned! :) I just can't wait!

Candace/ PAS: those pics of WL are making me want to look into a WL deluxe room too, LOL.... that pool looks so lovely!!! oh my...... what are the deluxe rooms like at WL??? as spacious as BWI??? Would anyone whose stayed at either be able to chime in on their favourite?? BWI Deluxe or WL Deluxe!???

I thought I'd come back to 8 pages of posts! You all have been quiet ... far. too. quiet. That makes me worry. :lmao:

Melissa:  How're you feeling today, my friend? (Somethings going 'round here too, my throat's all scratchy and junky. Thought we'd get some respite with school being out.)

... I moved us to the Grand Floridian. We check in next Friday!!!

Yay for changes!

I'm holdin' ya to it! So you're an EP Resort girl Do you know how many times I've said I was going to stay over there....and then get cold feet!!! I'm a monorail snob my deep-seated issues go way back to childhood The MK & the CR are so nostalgic.....I need to expand my horizons, don't I???

Yeah. I blame the BC on the Epcot Area Love. We had our first stay at the Poly, then a split between BC and Poly. We kinda just fell in love with the whole Boardwalk area. As much as we adored our stay at AKL, when we took the boat over from DHS a few weeks ago, hubbo said to me how "It doesn't really feel like Disney unless we're over here." When HE is willing to admit it, I know it's serious.

You don't need to expand your horizons at all -- you just need a SPLIT! :rotfl: (Ending with the monorail resort of your choosing!) Would you guys be up for a split?

Ah yes, nectar of the Gods as DH says. That was a Shock Top, with a Stella chaser.

We skipped the oysters, seeing that they might have come from the James River, but the soft shell crab are in season which made DD

:lmao: Softshell crab always makes me giggle. The first time my husband ordered one, I almost died laughing at his face when the waitress sat the plate down in front of him.

Ahhh, I'm going through some pangs of seafood withdrawal right now.

As a courtesy to those who are reading after breakfast or have already gotten queasy reading your "Vomitrocious Prime Time Tale," I've snipped the gory details. But, I completely understand and appreciate your lack of desire to ever dine there again. We don't dine there anymore either. The last time time we were there the server didn't "play her role" at all and as you very well know, the tables are very close together there in those rooms and we had a family smack dab next to us who, let's just say, wouldn't have been our first pick as table mates. Also, the menu seemed to have shrunk to airline menu proportions, so need to return for us. However, we did grab a desperation milk shake at the bar last visit and all went well.

This. I missed getting a PB&J. Need a return visit in October. Since I discovered the Tune-In accepts TiW, I did go back in just to order pretty, take-away drinks from the bar.

We've been twice and like 50s, I think that was our last visit. The Cobb is tasty and can be shared, but the service was not nearly as good as our first visit and the menu seemed MEH. It wasn't bad, just not what I would consider a 2TS restaurant. Really, other than SFDI, we don't like any of the DHS restaurants. Mama Melrose's was also MEH. We now prefer to walk from DHS to Epcot and instead eat there.

Is SFDI super loud? I'm one of those rare "like to talk during dinner" types and the seating there isn't conducive to this malady of mine, I'm guessing?

Bob did make it to his Eye Dr. Appt. yesterday and good thing too. I have been noticing his eyes seem to be getting worse again. Hi everyone!! Welcome to Summer!!!

And to you! :beach: (I wished it was a bit more like that smiley here, it's POURING with rain and thundering out.)

That reminds me....I have this green frog clip-on thingy for my car from B&BW that I need refills for.

Ah, that's one of the other things we picked up! The kiddo picked out a pink scuba diving owl for my car (pink is so not my color :lmao: ) and a green owl with flappy wings for the hubster. Not sure the scent I picked out was strong enough ... or perhaps my car is too funky for it to work properly.

Which game is this? Is this a grown-up forcing you to group with a kid in-game? Our last MMO was Rift, even there we had a small guild of people that have known each other from back in '99-00 when we all played EQ on the same server. We are -- as a group -- all so old and ornery we can't stand playing with "new" people anymore. :rotfl: Only thing the hubster and I are playing at the moment is Borderlands split-screen on the 360.

Hi! Booked Coronado King Preferred! It will be just the one night, but enough to spend the day/night and look it over for the future....:goodvib Now I'm going to read and catch up on all of you!:)

Hi y'all! Can't remember if I told y'all I changed from BWI to CR Tower Room? Then today I realized for an extra $29 we could do AKL CL (we are suckers for CL) but decided to stay at CR, b/c we love being on the monorail line & love the MK area..

wookie Men can be such Big Babies ! So sorry Your DH has gained back the weight.

I am just worried about his health with all that weight (he wears a 6 XL shirt). Before he had the surgery, the doctor told him that if he didn't get the weight off, he would be dead by 40. I told the DH that me wanting him to lose weight isn't about him getting back to that 220 lbs of pure muscle I married (although I wouldn't complain if he did :lmao:), it's just about him getting healthy and me not worrying all the time about when he is going to die.

No trip canceling !

If the DH pushes me on it, I will. He has in the past said that if I stop doing operations with him, he cancels our WDW trip. Well I'm not budging on my "no kid" rule, so we'll see. I would seriously rather cancel the trip than be forced into something.

I really think we will. The pictures of it look amazing. When I found out the man that designed it, also did the WL, I knew I would love it.

It's Star Wars: the Old Replubic, an MMO. When we joined the guild, the only reason I agreed to, was I was told it was over 18 only. It's not like the guys didn't know I refused to raid with a child. I have said it over and over. Well someone messed up and accidentally invited this kid (15 years old). I don't raid with children for a couple of reasons.
1) they are not reliable. If mom (or dad) wants them off the computer, no matter if we're mid-boss fight, they have to get off. I played WoW with one 15 yr old that his dad would literally cut the power to his room to force him off.
2) and I know you can understand this...You get a bunch of gamers together and the vent chat is exactly what I would call PG (or heck even PG-13 for that matter). It can get pretty X-rated quickly. I noticed they created a "PG only- no cussing" vent channel, but I thought it was made for one of the officers to do stuff with his kids in game. Well turns out that was their solution to my "no raiding with kids" thing. They though it was all about the vent chat. They would put him in that channel, have an officer in both channels, giving him the info he needs, but that is just stupid.
I knew this kid was signed up for the raid, but I figured the guy running the raid would rather have my heals than this kids dps. Well this one officer, who has made it his mission to make sure this kid gets to run whenever he wants, took over this other guy's raid and started doing the invited. Of course he invited the child first and then me. As soon as I saw the kid was in the raid, I got out of the group, got out of vent, and logged from the game. The DH did end up leaving the run, because he thought it was bull that this one officer is trying to force me to run with this kid. Luckily, my sending bad thought their way worked and they had a really hard time on an operation, that had my DH and I been there, would have been a cake walk. Hopefully, they learned their lesson. We'll see when I log in tonight. Honestly, at this point it has become as much about me not raiding with kids as it is about me being ticked that this person is trying to bully me into doing something he knows for months I have said I wouldn't do.

Now it seems he can see close up and far away but his middle distance is not good and he has to go back to wearing them all the time.

Now I kinda think maybe he brought this on himself since after the surgery he was suppose to use eye drops daily but stopped after a few weeks.

So sorry to hear this....I did decide on Coronado resort...hubby has been wanting to try it..so this will be a great chance to do just that.

Missoutandabout.... Saw you in the other thread!! Still confused as to whether the coffee change has happened...hubby is not a nescafe man! Need to make sure he has that morning "real" coffee!

Chimo2u...I can't wait to try AKL and CL...it's so exciting! Of course being part of this thread has me thinking about ALL the resorts I MUST try..:rotfl2: Thank God my husband likes me!:cool1:

Letthewookiewin...My hubby and I could use a little "get healthier" in our lives...It must be difficult, because we can only take care of ourselves in the end no matter what...Thanks for your input on the Coronado...I went with that...it looks amazing..just like the rest of WDW!

My husband has come home way early today, so an actual dinner is being cooked tonight...I've been eating alone far too much lately (toast, cereal...ect...) and am looking forward to two plates and a husband tonight. He is exhausted...he needs a Disney vacation.!
