Happy Hump Day!! Whoop! QOTD Wednesday, June 19:

It's Whoohoo Wednesday! Share something that you are celebrating today, this week, or even this month :)

Jill

well my Whoo Hoo is that my dad is here fixing up our place for us (he is a carpenter) we gave him all the money we have saved just for this and we are getting a new screen door so the bugs don't come in just the summer air! we are also getting a new floor under the washer/dryer and in the hallway because when when bought our mobile home 2yrs ago (a 1973 model) there was a leak thru the hallway light that rotted out the floor there so we've been walking very carefully for the past 2 yrs! also he will be fixing our outside spicket so we can use our hose - never have the whole time we lived there - it was already cracked when we bought it so something happened over a winter ! we also will be getting a new dryer belt as our broke on Sunday :( .. also getting more shelving in our bedroom - trailers have very little storage so more shelf space will be great and lastly if he has time (and $$ left) new faucets for both the bathroom and kitchen as they both drip!!
I am soo excited!! just hope he has time and $$ for everything we wanted.. if not then we'll start saving again ..

Good morning all! :goodvibes

So the "Break in the Tiki Bar" party takes place this Saturday. What the heck ever made us plan it less than a month after getting back from vacay?! :scared1: We seem to have everything under control though, a chef friend is making a pulled pork shoulder (yuck!), my MIL is making sausage and meatballs, another friend of a friend is taking care of the bartending, and I think I've planned a pretty healthy menu otherwise...shrimp, fruit, and cheese platters, and the requisite junk food for the kids. I definitely plan on staying away from the nice, fatty, potato and pasta salads and sticking with my tossed salad. This will definitely be one heck a test of willpower. ::yes:: We're expecting about 60 people, YIKES!! I'm sure it will be a great time though, even if we do get rained on.

Ooo, who wouldn't love a tiki party?!? :beach: Sounds like a blast!

If it is an exercise change, I would say that the most important thing to consider is a training goal, short term and long term, and a daily training plan to get there. Vague goals and no training plan = almost certain failure.

If it is a diet change, I would recommend a detailed daily food intake log. There are some great ones on the web that do most of the work for you, and they keep you honest and force you to consider the food you are about to eat, knowing it is going to have to be recorded in the log.

Both excellent suggestions, especially about the training plan! ::yes::

Jill, so sorry about the kitty dilemma. :hug: I'm hoping 50sjayne will be checking soon and she may have some suggestions although she is a long ways away from you.

Happy Hump Day!! Whoop! QOTD Wednesday, June 19:

It's Whoohoo Wednesday! Share something that you are celebrating today, this week, or even this month :)

Jill

:woohoo: I love Woo Hoo Wednesday! :yay: My woo hoo is that I had to buy smaller sizes of my cruise capris -- the ones I bought last month were too big! :cool1: I have some extra room but not too much. ;)

Jill, I am going on a 12 day Mediterranean cruise on the Magic next week! :cool1: It's fun to go on a vacation and not have to run. ;)

It is extremely hot here (93 °F) and I am just melting, there nearly is no air conditioning anywhere here and most definitely not in my office. :crazy2: Am considering to head to Starbucks after work as they have air conditioning!! At least all this heat does not make me hungry at all! :thumbsup2 And I am making sure that I am drinking a lot. Yesterday I had at least three litres of water. Just because it was so nice to have something refreshing.

On Friday the weather is supposed to cool down - and of course instead of normal nice summer weather which would be around 80 it goes down to the 60s again... :confused3

Wow crazy weather there, Magdalene! Glad to hear it is going to cool down a bit soon. :cool1:

It's a marathon--not a sprint. There are going to be up days and down days. Days when you want to quit and throw in the towel. You don't have to be perfect, just keep trying. :)

hmmm.....still here and haven't thrown in the towel. :) Best I could do today.

Have a great Wednesday! :goodvibes

Good advice, Rose! :thumbsup2

You forgot to say "woo hoo" ;) Fake it 'til you make it, baby, right? ::yes::

I was able to get it to work just now, maybe try again.

If not, I will send you my email address later today. And I'll put it on my photobucket.

What a nice moderator you are, Buffy! :flower3:

Pamela, I know you are busy and will be catching up. Hope you can take some time and just enjoy school being out, DD graduating, and the summer! :sunny:

Have a great day all!

The first page is up to date!
We are seeing a lot of colour already!! And over half of the people that have reported a weight this week are already at over 50% towards their monthly goal!

How wonderful!!

Happy Monday everyone!!

I hope this thread will become livelier again during the week!!!

I woke up to a wonderful surprise on the scale this morning. It dropped another 0.7 pounds since yesterday. I am nearly at my lowest pre-vacation weight and then I can start getting even further down! So excited!!

Big BRAVO for that!!

Unfortunately after lunch I could not resist the temptation of trying out the new ice cream our usual coffee place has added. It was delicious, but it cost me 4 points!!! But I had lots of veggies for lunch and am planning on eating more for dinner!

Four points isn't so bad! Especially if you really enjoyed it!!

Summer is just such a great time for fruit and vegetables! I am enjoying peaches and berries and real ripe tomatoes so much at the moment. :

We have had plenty of berries and the good peaches have started to trickle up here, but no tomatoes yet. We haven't seen much of our organic gardening friends and hot house spring tomatoes are a big cash crop for them. I should give them a call.... they are good about letting me buy "rejects" from them.

Good morning! I think I killed the thread Hopefully everyone is just super busy. Here's your QOTD inspired by my cutting veggies this morning for grilled chicken salads for dinner tonight (to which DS7 informed me "I'm not a vegetarian, you know.")

What is your favorite vegetable? Do have a specific way you cook it or like it cooked? Do you have a recipe to share?Jill

Favorite way to cook most veggies is ROASTED and/or GRILLED! So yummy for nearly every type/kind of veggie. I even tried grilling heads of romaine recently for a change.... it was interesting. We all ate it, although I think some of us enjoyed it more than others!:lmao:

Favorite veggie recipe is probably my layered ratatouille. Here is a link.... bottom of the page post #105. It is a SUPER SUMMER recipe. Late last summer I made one with the last of the real summer tomatoes and squash and I froze it.... and it was SO NICE to enjoy mid-winter! Like a taste of summer for dinner!

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2447512&page=7

Hello all sorry I feel off the face of the WISH boards.

I gained weight back and felt defeated. However, I am finally REALLY exercising to the point where I feel stronger.

So glad you came back to visit us and that you are getting BACK to exercise! The weight will come off again. Remember our motto...."NEVER GIVE UP!"

Best wishes to all. Great pic pjlla!

Thanks.

We love sauteed zucchini or green beans in the saute express garlic butter! OMG delish!!!

Sounds very yummy!

GREAT PIC!!!

Thank you.

So I have brag a bit about my Hubs.. he has gotten on board with walking - he walked 3 of the 4 days with me last week and last night he even asked if I wanted to run then challenged me to "beat ya home" run from the corner to our driveway! I am soo glad.. as a chef he is on his feet moving all day but that is stuff his body is used to and I think he is getting it now.. I also completed the first 7 days of the my ab challenge.. I can see improvements even though I am not doing all in a big batch I can at least do 10 sit ups without stopping now vs. ZERO when I started day 1 !!

That is just WONDERFUL.... for both of you!!

Well, as I live in a climate where the average temp is about 10 degrees and we see the sun about 5 days a year, I don't do a lot about UV protection on a daily basis, although I'm always careful on holiday. I'm a Hawaiian Tropic girl (love the smell!!!)

As far as moisturising generally goes, I do a full body moisturise about twice a week, with legs more as they tent to be dry with me wearing trousers for work most of the time.

My face is probably the most neglected part of me, but I had greasy skin as a teenager, so have avoided much moisturiser since then!!

Funny that you are just the opposite of me. I have ALWAYS moisturized my face.... even in my teens..... but I rarely put lotion on anywhere else! I'm trying to get in the habit now as I get older and find that my legs and arms are looking dry.

Aww...congrats to DD. Isn't it funny how your body reacts to a change in our eating? My body always feels tired & sluggish after a poor meal choice (aka Chinese buffet ).

It wasn't so much that I "overate" but just what I was eating was much higher fat, sugar, carb than I am used to any more. Here it is, Wednesday, and my gut is STILL grumbling rumbling, trying to adjust to the weekend food! DH feels similarly when he splurges and eats carbs. He says it tastes so good going down, but the next day he feels so icky! That is our body's way of telling us to hold off on the junk!!

What a beautiful family! You don't look old enough to have a daughter graduating high school.

OOhhh... you are my BEST FRIEND for today!!:thumbsup2 :rotfl: I just had a birthday and am feeling like an OLD LADY! Thanks for the kind words.

I'm glad to see I didn't totally kill the thread. DS7 and I went to the movies & saw Epic. It was cute. And I managed to only eat a small bit of popcorn and NO candy!! On Mondays our theater has free small popcorn, so we each got one & we brought some home for DS10.

Nice job resisting. As anyone who has been on these threads with me knows, movie popcorn (and candy) is a HUGE "can't resist" item for me!! I can literally think of ONE TIME in my ENTIRE LIFE that I went to a movie and DIDN'T eat popcorn.... because I forgot my wallet and only had enough money on me to buy the movie tix for the kids and I!!

I just got done walking with the dog, but we got cut short because of threatening looking rain clouds. I have to pick up DS10 at 4:30, grill chicken for salads, and go to a school board meeting at 7. Idk if other places are having issues with budgets, but PA cut funding to schools & our district is getting rid of programs & not replacing retiring teachers. It's a total uproar in our town & I'd like to go hear what they are saying. So, I'm off & I'll be back tonight. Jill

Our town has been going through things like this for a while. We are a middle-income rural community and we just don't pay our teachers like the bigger towns and cities nearby.... so we lose good teachers because we aren't competitive with salaries. It is really a shame. I am so grateful for the good teachers that we DO have and are able to retain.... but when they leave for greener pastures, I don't really blame them. We have not lost all of our "extras" like music, gym, and art, but they only have them once a week.

I do like zucchini. When I was a kid, my mom would use thinly sliced zucchini instead of noodles in lasagna. Zucchini sauteed in olive oil and then parm cheese on top is rather tasty. Zucchini bread is quite a treat, although I need to find a recipe that uses honey instead of white sugar and whole wheat flour instead of white. Grilled is nice too! Hmm.... now I'm getting hungry.

I've heard of using sliced zucchini in place of the lasagna noodles and have ALWAYS been tempted to try it. DH loves lasagna but doesn't eat carbs... it would be a nice treat for him. That being said, I HATE making lasagna!!

Pamela DD looks beautiful!!! Tell her DS and I say congrats!

Thanks... will do!

Lisa my goal is to find a 10K sometime in October or November. I'm hoping a Turkey Trot shows up somewhere. I've been keeping an eye on the bulletin boards at Starbucks and on Active.com, I need to head to the local running store though and see if they know of anything.

I'm going to post my WOOHOO Wednesday early. Went to the chiropractor today and he asked how much I've lost. I told him I was stuck at 25 pounds, but as I laid on the table he said I could fit 2 of me in my pants, LOL. and they were my 14's. Guess I really need to go get some new jeans.

I also went for a walk today while DS16 ran with his friends. I stayed on the track at school and walked 4 miles. Did pretty good, my pace was 15:50. It was pretty hot though, so I didn't push as hard as I could have.
Monday we switch to early morning runs.

Congrats on the "woohoo" and on sticking with the running!

Good morning everyone. I have to go so some yoga but I wanted to make some comments while my computer is working right.

Pamela Congrats on the graduate. You have beautiful looking family.

Thank you so much!

I hope the school board meeting went well. I have seen too many good programs lost due to budget. It is really sad when education is being held hostage by politicians. You will see more and more of the older teachers retiring due to new things we are being held to. The schools are losing valuable educators that will be hard to replace if they do so at all.

Off to stretch my back

Have a happy and healthy day.

I knew you (and many of our teachers here) would be chiming in about Jill's post. I may be cheap with my tax dollars and I don't always vote for the newest cruisers or fire trucks.... but I ALWAYS vote to give the schools the money they ask for. Hopefully I will continue to do this even when I no longer have kids in the school system.

I totally agree. The meeting was actually pretty uneventful. It's so sad how more & more is dumped on teachers every year. We have 3 elementary schools & they are cutting a phys Ed teacher. So last year our kids had gym every other week. This coming school year, the classroom teacher is responsible for gym class and there is no phys ed teacher for elementary at all. It's just too much. These same teachers have been on a pay freeze for 3 years.

SO SAD!

The paperwork is starting to get to me. I swear Ieps have changed every year since I started. I have no time for teaching because I'm behavior tracking & progress monitoring! Ok...rant over

Hope you had a relaxing yoga session.

Jill

Having worked in the school system for the past 9 years, I totally understand! Too much time on paperwork... not enough time left to TEACH!

As a kid I used to hate vegetables. But my mother than figured out that I mainly hate cooked (and steamed vegetables). I love many when they are raw, grilled or baked. Favourite is difficult, but I would say all kinds of pumpkin and squash!

Yummm... love pumpkin and winter squash as well!

Pam, this is a lovely family picture and you look fantastic in that dress!!

Thanks! I bought it at Macy's last fall.... saw it in the clearance rack and fell in love with it, so I bought it with the excuse to save it for graduation. I never expected it to be cool enough to need a light sweater, but fortunately I had that white one in the closet. The dress is actually sleeveless.... but I don't mind an excuse to cover my old lady chicken arms!:lmao:

QOTD Tuesday, June 18

What one piece of advice would you give a friend or family member who is just beginning a healthy lifestyle change?

I'll be on later for replies.

Jill

You need to make changes you can stick with FOR A LIFETIME.

my advice would be to plan, plan realistically what you can do exercise-wise and also food wise....fail to plan = plan to fail!!!!

I used that quote in my meeting last night!!:thumbsup2

You might try this, Buffy. http://www.runningintheusa.com/Race/List.aspx?Special=halfmarathon This link is for half marathons but you can change it to 10ks and 5ks and by location. My CT geography is not very good and I have no idea where Blink is. I have no doubt you will be ready and have a great race!

Blink is right next to "Wink" and "Smile"!! ;)

Yes, I leave in one week! Maybe I am being unrealistic but all our excursions have a lot of walking and I have to keep up with my Dumbo training onboard. Luckily there are several of us doing Dumbo so it will be fun to train with people for a change. I'm going to try and be very smart about my choices while still having a good time. I may be naïve but hopefully it will work.

Did you make it to WW this week? I think the topic will be VERY relavent to your upcoming trip!::yes:: You are going to do great because you are THINKING ABOUT IT and PLANNING FOR IT!!

It will take twice as long and be twice as hard as you think it will but if you are persistent and never give up it will be better than you ever dreamed it would be!

That is GREAT!!

Sorry for the stressful day, Magdalene. My old WW leader suggested that sometimes it is helpful to change the 24 hours that you track. Instead of tracking for today, Tuesday, from midnight to 11:59 p.m. that you start say with dinner tonight, Tuesday, and then add breakfast and lunch for tomorrow, Wednesday. It is supposed to help you if you find yourself running out of points at the end of the day because it is supposedly easier to keep on track at breakfast and lunch. I may not be explaining it very well. I think it is called "walking your points." Doesn't that sound like more fun than plain old tracking?

That is a great suggestion!!

Pam, that is one good looking family! And your kids are so tall!

Thank you. Yup.... I am the short one. DD is about 5'7" and DS is just skimming 6' even (hoping to beat his 6'1" Dad someday!). I am just 5'5" but was wearing major heels!:lmao:

So the "Break in the Tiki Bar" party takes place this Saturday. What the heck ever made us plan it less than a month after getting back from vacay?! We seem to have everything under control though, a chef friend is making a pulled pork shoulder (yuck!), my MIL is making sausage and meatballs, another friend of a friend is taking care of the bartending, and I think I've planned a pretty healthy menu otherwise...shrimp, fruit, and cheese platters, and the requisite junk food for the kids. I definitely plan on staying away from the nice, fatty, potato and pasta salads and sticking with my tossed salad. This will definitely be one heck a test of willpower.We're expecting about 60 people, YIKES!! I'm sure it will be a great time though, even if we do get rained on.

Sounds like fun! What time should I be there??!!:laughing:

I am so glad I asked this question. I think I needed to read all the answers & reevaluate my exercise & eating habits. Thank you to everyone for all the advice. I think it inspires others whether they are active in the conversation or just "lurkers" who read but do not post. In fact, if there are any lurkers out there, jump in! We don't bite...I swear!!

We nibble... and tickle.... and poke... but NEVER BITE!!:rotfl2:

Need to vent for a minute...last month a cat had kittens under our mudroom (in our fenced in back yard where our 55 lb Australian Cattle Dog has a doggie door & comes & goes as she pleases). So, we brought them into our screened in back porch on our second floor so they would be safe. We've had them for about 5-6 weeks now. I found homes for 2 kittens so I have the mom & 1 kitten left. No one will take these cats. Every shelter & rescue we called said they are not accepting cats. Our option is to pay to spay them & they can roam our neighborhood or drop them off at a rescue that will just euthanize them :( I understand there is an over population of cats, but we tried to do a good thing & support these cats. Ugh. I can't keep either because our dog isn't doing well with them. We've tried to introduce them, and I'm worried about the kitten still being too little & the mom scratching my dog. I'm just frustrated that no one can help us. And DSs want them to go to good homes. Ok...rant over.

Sorry I rambled there. I'm off to upload some pics to Walgreens & watch a movie with DSs. I'll be back later to check in.

Jill

Wish I were closer.... I would take them for sure. Put out some notices on bulletin boards around. You may get lucky. But as a cat lover, thanks for doing the right thing.

Happy Hump Day!! Whoop! QOTD Wednesday, June 19:

It's Whoohoo Wednesday! Share something that you are celebrating today, this week, or even this month :)

Jill

Ummm.... I didn't use the birthday excuse on Monday to overeat. I had indulged over the weekend due to graduation and Father's Day, but it would have been easy to indulge ONE MORE DAY.... but I didn't... and I don't really think I missed out on anything. The restaurant we went to on Sunday offered a free dessert since it was my birthday dinner (and graduation dinner and Father's Day dinner) and I shared it with my table.... so that was enough birthday indulgence for me! (Got bananas foster, in case any one was wondering!)

:goodvibes

As long as you continue to do YOUR BEST, that is all you can ask of yourself.::yes::

****************

Okay.... caught up pretty much!

DS had his last final exam today.... he is home and relaxing and ready for summer! DD started lifeguard training yesterday.... it runs for 3 9-hour days! The pool is VERY COLD and she isn't really enjoying it. But she has been talking about doing it for ages and this class popped up at just the right time. It was VERY expensive (more than I thought) but hopefully these skills will help her in the long run.

I'm just trying to keep up with house stuff and yard stuff.... the usual. Eating is back on plan after the weekend, but exercise is still lagging behind. I'm putting every spare minute into house maintenance chores and yard work.

Busy swim weekend and college orientation coming up. Off to check those schedules so I know what I am doing this weekend!................P

That is a big :woohoo: on the home improvements, Michelle! :yay:

Happy Belated Birthday, stealth birthday girl, Pamela! party: :bday: party:

I haven't been to my WW meeting yet this week but I saw that vacation strategies was the upcoming topic this week and thought it was very timely! ::yes::

I won't be able to use my eTools but I am going to wear my ActiveLink and keep my fingers crossed the battery holds out for 2 weeks. I think by paying attention and being aware I'll do better than I would if I just let it be a "free for all." We shall see. :lmao:

LOTS Of woohoo for the house repairs!! Just gotta add this.... if you are on a tight budget (and aren't we all these days) and needing house maintenance stuff, try looking around at slightly "off" places like Big Lots and Ocean State Job Lots for things. We bought our bathroom faucets at OSJL a few years back for $30 each. They are nice Peerless gooseneck faucets... so much better than the cruddy builder grade we had. And I think $30 each was a STEAL! Don't assume that you have to hit Home Depot or Lowe's for this stuff. Even try checking thrift stores for this kind of stuff. Good luck with all of the repairs!

That is a big :woohoo: on the home improvements, Michelle! :yay:

Happy Belated Birthday, stealth birthday girl, Pamela! party: :bday: party:

As the numbers get bigger, the more stealthy I'm getting!!;)

Well, just got back from slimming class and it is indeed WooHoo Wednesday for me.....5lb off this week...a total of 51.5lbs gone since I started this journey on 7th January. Many many thanks for your continued support and motivation guys........might even do a before and after pic for you at the weekend!!!

It's Whoohoo Wednesday! Share something that you are celebrating today, this week, or even this month

Jill

I started 30 Day Shread again today and took DS7 to the park to do the fitness trail. We had a blast walking and doing all the exercises. I'm planning to gowith my boys & DH at least every other day this summer.

My MIAMI HEAT winning game 6 of the NBA Finals in overtime!!!!!! (Can you tell I'm excited??)

Congrats on your team winning! Now if I could get the Chicago Blackhawks to beat Boston, I'll be Whoohoo-ing with you!

QOTD:

I will be celebrating on Friday morning when I hand the responsibility of being on call over to another colleague and won't have to think about it anymore for about a year of so! :cool1:

Jill, so sorry about the kitties. What a shame!! I hope you will still be able to find a solution!!

So glad that you are almost done being on call! I don't know how people handle being on call for long periods of time. I hope you can relax this weekend :)

Thanks about the cats. I keep trying to introduce the dog & the kitten, but my dog just gets so excited that she ends up barking & scaring the kitten. Also, we named the kitten Belle :) I love Beauty and the Beast & she seemed like a Belle.

I'm so sorry about the heat & lack of AC. It's supposed to get warm here next week and we have an older house with no AC, so I can relate some. I'm glad it'll be cooling off. Isn't the weather hilarious? 90s one day 60s the next. It happens here all the time. No wonder I get so many headaches!

:goodvibes

Thanks for the great advice. I often hear people quoting the Nemo movie with "just keep swimming."

Being here and not giving up is huge (and you followed your own advice). :)

Hey friends! Miss me? Sorry to be missing so much! Busy life, busy days.... I'm sure you all understand. But I'm taking a few minutes now to play catch up with you all! I've missed our daily chats! Off to read and catch up!............P

Welcome back after all your craziness!

How awesome to get home improvement projects done! And, it rocks that you have such a handy dad. Maybe I can send you my address and he can come here next :rotfl2:

Jill, so sorry about the kitty dilemma. :hug: I'm hoping 50sjayne will be checking soon and she may have some suggestions although she is a long ways away from you.

:cool1: It's fun to go on a vacation and not have to run. ;)

Have a great day all!

Thanks about the cats. If only more WISHers lived closer :lmao:

Yay on smaller sizes! That is awesome! I hope you have a wonderful cruise. I would love to hit the Mediterranean one day. Do you have any port excursions planned? We've never been on a cruise & I would love to go next year, but it would probably be Western Caribbean.

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2447512&page=7

Thanks for sharing the recipe. I made Ratatouille once and I loved it, the other 3 family members did not care for it. I think I'll try your recipe this summer.

We don't have a problem with teachers leaving. In fact, in my area, it is very hard to get into a school district because teachers stay until retirement. I'm glad to hear that you still have all your extra classes weekly. They are an important part of education!

Having worked in the school system for the past 9 years, I totally understand! Too much time on paperwork... not enough time left to TEACH!

Yes.

You need to make changes you can stick with FOR A LIFETIME.

Yes. There are no quick fixes to change your healthnfor the rest of your life.

Wish I were closer.... I would take them for sure. Put out some notices on bulletin boards around. You may get lucky. But as a cat lover, thanks for doing the right thing.

Awww thanks. I wish I could find a home for these sweet things. I'm going to keep asking and I have friends and family asking people as well. I think I'll post something at church as well.

P

Happy Belated Birthday!! I'm glad to hear you did well with eating with all you had going on this weekend! Great job!

I won't be able to use my eTools but I am going to wear my ActiveLink and keep my fingers crossed the battery holds out for 2 weeks. I think by paying attention and being aware I'll do better than I would if I just let it be a "free for all." We shall see. :lmao:

Sounds like you have a pretty good plan in place.

Well, just got back from slimming class and it is indeed WooHoo Wednesday for me.....5lb off this week...a total of 51.5lbs gone since I started this journey on 7th January. Many many thanks for your continued support and motivation guys........might even do a before and after pic for you at the weekend!!!

Oh My Goodness!! That is so wonderful! And thanks to you for being such an inspiration to me and others! I would love to see a pic.

I'm all caught up with replies for the night. I'm going to post the QOTD for tomorrow as I will be leaving early to head to Pittsburgh to see my college roommate that is home from Virginia. I am so excited to see her (we see each other about 4 times a year since her parents live about 2 hours from me). So, I probably won't be on until later tomorrow evening. Have a great night and morning!

QOTD Thursday, June 20:

If you had teleporting powers and could go anywhere right now (other than Disney~we know we all love Disney), where would you go and why?

Jill, have a great day with your friend today!!

And since I now figured out the stealth birthday... Happy Birthday Pam!!!

Lisa, I think you already have a great plan for your vacation and I am sure that this will be the first step towards reaching your goal not to gain a lot of weight on the cruise!! I am very impressed! But I think you are right, if you do lots of port excursions to cities that include a lot of walking around that should already help with counteracting weight loss! My cruise was more a beachy one... :beach:

Bigsis, that sounds exciting that you get all these things to your house done!!

I can report a fun NSV today. I finally got the bike out last week to bike to work (instead of walking) and was so annoyed with my bike helmet as it seemed not to fit properly, it was slightly too lose. It was such a pain to get it adjusted correctly when I bought it a few years ago and I was dreading to readjust it because somehow over the winter it had changed. But no, I realised that it is me who changed!! I was about 10 pounds heavier when I bought it and I finally lost so much that my cheeks are slimmer and therefore it was lose!! :rotfl2:

QOTD:

a fridge??? :crazy2: It's still far too hot here. No - I just had a better idea: Castaway Cay!!! :beach:

Wowza, Helen! Great job on this week's loss and your overall loss! :yay: :woohoo: :jumping1: :cool1::banana: That is totally awesome! :worship: You should be so proud of yourself and all your hard work! :flower3:

I started 30 Day Shread again today and took DS7 to the park to do the fitness trail. We had a blast walking and doing all the exercises. I'm planning to gowith my boys & DH at least every other day this summer.

Sounds like a lot of fun, Jill! :cool: Enjoy your visit with your friend!

We have several excursions planned -- it's a 12 night cruise with only 3 sea days so it will be a whirlwind trip. We will go to Monaco, Climb the Tower at Pisa, see the Colosseum and Vatican in Rome, the museum where all the good stuff from Pompeii is in Naples, two days in Venice, one day in Croatia and one day in Malta. DS will turn 14 while we are at sea. It is the trip of a lifetime for us. :beach:

I would teleport myself to the Magic because in my mind I am already there. :p

That is a great NSV, Magdalene! You know when you lose weight in your face that there isn't much left to lose. :cool:

Have a great OP day all!

Helen, I forgot to comment on this in my previous post!! So sorry! This is a fabulous result you got there!!! Congratulations!! And I would love to see pictures. I remember the last set you posted a while ago and those were already impressiv! :thumbsup2

Good luck with all of the repairs!
................P

Thanks I'll be sure to check out places like that - we do love Big Lots :) Oh and Happy Birthday!

How awesome to get home improvement projects done! And, it rocks that you have such a handy dad. Maybe I can send you my address and he can come here next :rotfl2:

Congrats on the work out plan.. It's great having a handy dad - since I was a single mom for 10 yrs and my Hubs didn't have a dad who taught him that kind of stuff its really nice to see my Dad showing him.. and if you lived closer I would say he'll be right there since he is currently out of work :)

ok no Disney then how about a warm beach with white sand and blue skies and clear water (no sharks) for about a week or so :) that would make me a happy girl!

Bigsis, that sounds exciting that you get all these things to your house done!!

Welcome back after all your craziness!

THanks.... and the craziness is continuing!

Thanks about the cats. If only more WISHers lived closer :lmao:

Can you ship a kitten UPS???:lmao: Actually, DH works for "big brown" and there are pictures around of an alligator that someone shipped a number of years ago! They had sedated it and duct taped its jaw closed, but the sedation didn't last long enough and it woke up enroute!! :eek: Glad I wasn't the delivery man that day!!

Happy Belated Birthday!! I'm glad to hear you did well with eating with all you had going on this weekend! Great job!

Thanks.... fingers crossed for a maintain on the scale tomorrow!

Austria. It has topped my bucket list since I first saw The Sound of Music in 4th grade. Next up might be the Egyptian pyramids or Paris.

Thanks I'll be sure to check out places like that - we do love Big Lots :) Oh and Happy Birthday!

Thank you!

Happy Thursday to everyone! Busy busy around here again today! I can't imagine what I'll feel like in Septembr if my entire summer is like this!! Last day of lifeguard training for DD and first full day of summer vacation for DS. I spent (too much :sad2: ) time organizing my coupons and lists for a big trip to Target tomorrow to take the best advantage of my 5% off Pharmacy Rewards coupon. Plus I am trying to pick a new door color so I stood in the sun looking at paint chips for a bit today as well. :cool2:

DH is picking up DD at 5pm and they should be home before 6pm. I will have DD's dinner ready to eat on the run and she and I will DASH out to swim practice. She will be a bit late, but not too bad. I may even meet them somewhere to save a bit of time.

Just folded 2 loads of clothes fresh from the line :laundy: but I still have a MOUNTAIN to be folded in my room. Thank GOODNESS tonight's dinner is an easy no-cooking meal! Greek yogurt parfaits with fresh berries, granola, and sliced almonds. I think this may be our default meal for Tuesday nights going forward, since that will definitely be a "work night" for me this summer.

Okay.... off to fold a bit more laundry before I have to head out tonight!........P

I think I would want to go to Morocco. I love Morocco in Epcot. The whole culture seems so beautiful, and I'd love to see the real place (not Disney version :lmao:) in person.

Jill, have a great day with your friend today!!

Thanks! We had a fun time.

That's aweseome! Well, not the whole adjusting it again thing, but the loss that made it fit wrong :)

Hope you get some relief from the heat soon. I've never been to Castaway
Cay, but I'm sure it's an awesome place to teleport

Well, I'm glad you've got someone to help you out. I'm sorry your dad is out of work. It's such a tough job market. I hope he can find something soon.

I may have to join you on the beach for an adult beverage!

Another busy day in the life of Pamela! Btw~do you have a Target Red card? You can stack the 5% off with that with your 5% pharmacy card. I don't have the credit card, I have the debit card version so it is just like my regular debit card but with 5% off. Although, I tend to spend more thinking that I'm saving 5% :laughing: You can use it for Disney gift cards and save 5%, too. Although, that was in January so I don't know if anything has changed with that lately. Either way have fun shopping.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've finally found time to check in! I had a blast with my friend and got home around 4:45. DH and DS7 got home from bowling shortly after and we decided to go fishing. So, we got home around 8:30 after DS7 caught about 12 blue gill. He was having such a good time. I think we'll go again tomorrow since DS10 isn't done with camp until 4:30. I was so tired when we got home, but I threw on some clothes and did 30DS. I think tomorrow I will do it in the morning and then go walking or walk/running. Sorry I don't have much more time tonight, but I'll be around more tomorrow. Have a great night.
Jill
again...I am too far behind!!! :scared::scared:
my apologies...I really intended on being more frequent. I guess it's good that I've been really busy and not much computering time! I try to read on my phone but it's too overwhelming...lol
sending out the Whoosh Fairy for her rounds for us tonight!! BEST WISHES TO MY LOSER FRIENDS!
Well drat! I was so good with my eating this week, but haven't exercised as meds were off and i had zero, no minus zero energy. Guess I'm glad the scale still showed me the lower number from two weeks ago that is below my cushings diagnosis weight. But sadly i didn't lose this week and now have to lose 2 next week to meet my goal for the month .
Thanks Jill - I am not sure he is actively looking - ;) - he is turning 63 in Aug and I think he'll just start collecting SSI if he can..
so the scale has been good to me this week and I am down .5 again.. :) last night I did my day 9 ab work out (I'm a few days behind) and I was able to do 15 sit-ups without using my arms to help me, I did 30 total along with 12 crunches and leg raises and a 20 second plank.. UGH I haven't done any ab work since Sun so it was rough! then I walked for 35 mins around my neighborhood..
so the weather up here is supposed to get steamy again this coming weekend and beginning of next week, so i think we might be visiting the beach - if I can find a suit! :blush:
Good morning all! :goodvibes
Pamela, I can't believe how busy it is around your house lately -- summer is for chilling. :cool2: Hope you can take a breather soon!
Sounds like a fun day fishing, Jill! :beach:
Congrats on the lower number, Molli! WISHing you the number you want to see next week! :flower3:
I had a .8 gain at WW yesterday. Don't know why really. Ate within my points and didn't even use one weekly point. Luckily I get one more weigh in before I leave on Monday and will keep my fingers crossed that whoosh fairy comes to my house after she is done at yours! :tink:
Have a great day all!
