Alaska on the Disney Wonder

Just got back from my first ever cruise on the beautiful Disney Wonder to Alaska. I had an amazing time and really wanted to stay onboard for the next sailing too!

If I had any advice for anyone on the upcoming sailings it would be do not stress about the weather - the only time I was freezing was on Tracy Arm day and that was only when I was standing at the front of deck 10. I didn't bring a big winter coat but wore lots of layers which worked perfectly. We had gorgeous sunshine in Skagway and Juneau which made for a pleasant surprise as this was the opposite of what was forecast.

Also bring an umbrella as it rained for nearly the whole day in Ketchikan - we saw many unprepared people buying extra layers in the gift shops near the dock.

Lots of my friends who are looking at doing a Disney Cruise asked me to take photos and videos to show them. I took nearly 10,000 photos and lots of videos. Don't worry as I don't intend to share them all but I will try and post the best of what I have. :)

Absolutely fantastic! Do you know I'll be up for 2 more hours? Love these types of trip reports! I'm bookmarking this. Thank you!

Awesome- thank you so much!

You were in the same room we have booked for the San Diego cruise to nowhere next year!

Wow - many thanks for posting all this! I'll keep checking back for sure - we leave in 10 days for a cruise departing on July 1!

Do you remember how they worked the Pixar Party and/or Semi-Formal night on your cruise? Things don't seem to be particularly well figured out with the whole Pixar thing yet...

Thanks for posting all of this awesome info! We're going in less than 2 weeks, woo hoooo! I look forward to seeing more videos!

You really put a lot of time and effort into your post!

Re: Alaska weather -- a cruise ship captain (not DCL) said there's no such thing as bad weather in Alaska, just tourists who are badly dressed for it.

When we were in Ketchikan earlier this month it started sprinkling -- just a genteel mist, and a woman was complaining about it. hullo! SE Alaska is a rain forest, and they get precip 330 days out of the year.

Yes it was hysterical people watching in Ketchikan! Even just doing two seconds of Google research will tell you that Alaska is one of the wettest places in the world!

Even funnier was one guy dressed in t-shirt, shorts and sandals during Tracy Arm day.

I'm having a break from iMovie for a few days and have started sorting my photos but they're taking forever!

Unfortunately I have no idea, sorry. We went to Palo that night which was simply amazing.

This is fantastic.:woohoo: We are on the Sept. 2nd sailing. The Navigators and Menus will really help with planning.:cool1:

Those are fantastic videos! :cool1: yay, it's like reliving the cruise looking through them!!

We were on this sailing as well. Someone asked about the Pixar/Semi-Formal Night- yes, it was kind of awkward. Somehow I totally spaced on it being Semi-Formal night, we had a full day in Juneau and so we hadn't even really gotten very dressed up for dinner. I was horrified when I got there and saw people in tuxes! Anyway it seemed odd to put the two together, and at least our dining rotation had lots of people entering dinner late, having gotten back from late excursions who hadn't changed.

I did like the servers' cowboy-bandanna colored bow ties for dinner though!

Thank you so much for posting this, I spent a very happy hour the other night watching your videos. It was especially helpful to see the one of the navigator's verandah as we are sailing in one. Thanks again. :goodvibes

I loved our Navigator's Verandah stateroom - it was everything I wanted it to be. :)

The only noise we had one night was a very loud woman knocking loudly on the door opposite us and screaming loudly telling the family inside to be quiet - we hadn't heard a thing - she was louder than anything else!

Thank you for posting all this extremely helpful info -- wonderful of you! Wish I had your digital skills. Thanks.
