Seriously. If you can afford a Disney Cruise, you can afford to go to h20plus.com and buy some full sized bottles of the stuff (including the coveted body butter) when you get home to use all year long.

A few tiny sample size bottles aren't going to break the Disney bank, and it pays H2o because people like us go home with our tiny "stolen" bottles and like them so much we order bigger Bottles from their website because our contraband doesn't last long enough. People have used the argument that "Disney works these costs in to their cruise price, and then some", but if/as the practice becomes more widespread this will be one of the contributing factors to increasing price.

I was simply making the point that it seems dishonest to purposely hoard these things knowing that the room steward will replace them the next day. Just because it's "free" doesn't mean you need to take all you can... I don't throw half the tray of after dinner mints in my pocket when I visit a "pay at the till" style of restaurant that has mints on offer.

Yes, but it is obvious that the intention is that it's given to you as a convenience to use on your cruise, not to supply with half a years worth of hair care products, soaps and body lotion.

And if people were taking these extra servings and refrigerating them to save on groceries after the cruise your example would be a reasonable analogue.

Disney prepares more than enough food for each dining area as the food is not "made to order" but pre-made, they need to be sure they have enough of each course type to account for their guests varying tastes. As such, I'm sure much food is thrown out or wasted each night.

Just as I said in my original post, I have no issue with taking 1 of each home at the end of the cruise as they are certainly thrown out and replaced during guest turnover.

And you can say that there are more important things to worry about in life than small shampoo bottles, but the mentality of take/use all you can creates unnecessary consumption of resources in a world where resources are finite. Just sayin.

Wow, I cant believe that this is a serious argument. I do agree stealing is wrong but I'm not quite sure who is stealing h20 products? I personally use the products in my room and whatever is left keep. They are giving me 1 bottle each day of each product, there is 5 of us to use it so I do not think that is excessive. We do bring our own products as well so we do get to bring some home. I do not ask for more it is given to me so I am in NO way stealing if I take a few bottles home with me of what they gave me.
Stealing would be hijacking the stateroom carts and taking from there or finding where they stock it and raiding it without permission. And, I'm pretty sure no one is doing that! Those bottles are small and Disney has rooms that fit up to a few people so they know each room could need at least 2 of each product a day, Im sure they are prepared for that.

Disney has more than 40 years of experience at their resorts and 15 years as a cruise company. People have been taking toiletries homes during that entire time. It didn't just start. By your estimation, my $1400 cruise this past January should've been $3000.

this is a silly argument. i'm going to wash my hair therefore i'm going to buy shampoo. same with conditioner and body lotions. taking it means I will NOT be creating unnecessary consumption of resources or am I getting your message wrong?
one way or the other i'm going to make myself clean.
but I digress. i'm still taking it home with me cause I like it and Disney knows i'm going to take it home cause I like it. that about sums it up in my book.

I also bring home a couple or so of the shampoo/conditioners so that on those "rotten day all over" I can come home use them and relax thinking of calmer times.

I dare say that H20 is enjoying having the "free" advertising of their product associated with the Disney name.

Also, a few years ago while staying at one of the WDW All Star resorts I went to the front desk to ask about purchasing extras of the little round bath soap with the Mickey sticker, the Mickey shampoo/conditioner. They said they were complimentary and why was I asking to purchase. I wanted the individually wrapped rather than a packaged set to take home to give to our local homeless and domestic violence shelters so the children would have something "special" for them. They looked up my reservation and said they would have some extras deliver to my room before we checked out later that week. 2 days later I had a sack on the bed with an amount equal to double the number of days we were staying. They include a note saying there was no extra charge as these type items were always complimentary.

When I got home I wrote the manager of the resort a thank you letter for the extras and that the shelters had been thrilled to get something special for the children. I included the information of the shelters. Heard from the shelters a couple of months later than they each got a "goodie box" with more soaps, shampoo/conditioners, stickers and pens to hand out.

Yes Disney is big on marketing and making money but they are also generous.

little different. i believe theres a law against taking the food off the ship. shampoo, not so much.
