The Frump Takes Over the World: Food Edition! A DR with Extra Magic! Update- 11/14

I should know not to read your updates when I am hungry. Haha! I never really considered the Grand Floridian Cafe. Is it easy to walk in? I'm thinking that might be good for a random lunch one day.

Great job! I hope your Mom is doing well!

GFC was one of our favorite dinners last summer. I'm a huge fan of their artisanal salads. I didn't know those were currants in the rolls! Ha, I avoided them since I wasn't sure... I'm thinking of going back there in August.

You mom probably thought I was a crazy lady! I'm so glad that you "recognized" me since I wasn't paying attention. I was still star struck from being able to hang out with Mr. DDW who we had just met that night. But I wasn't lying... You ARE FAMOUS!!! Seriously, it was so awesome to meet you. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing a better photo of the two of us... ahem. ;)

I hope your mom is doing well. :goodvibes

Rob: You are so sweet! One day our trips will sync up. OR if you ever make it back to DL! :)

Yay EPCOT!!

Your mom >>

I hope I can give my mom the videography responsibility during our trip :scared:

I def overlooked Sunshine Seasons when I was making my Disney restaurants I want to eat at spreadsheet. Added. ;)

This food

The only thing better than dessert is Mickey shaped desserts !

Your sister's deer face about the Avengerail is like the best picture ever omg.

NUTELLA. WAFFLE. SANDWICH. :jumping1:

Great update! I love both yours and your mom's dresses in Epcot-- very cute!

I LOVE the noodles at Sunshine Seasons-- so yummy!

Yay for DISmeets!

I hope your mom is doing better! :-)

The atmosphere in Sanaa looks gorgeous. Just like the rest of AKL!

YOUR PICS OF AKL >>>>>

RED VELVET WHOOPIE PIES = GREATEST CREATION EVER. Omg.

That Hamm pin is amazing. I need it.

I have read so many great reviews of the GFC and I am dying to try it out. We already have an ADR at the Tea Room for our next trip but GFC is so happening after that.

Well this sentence is awesome. Thank you for this: The Grand: where even the floors are perfect.

Swashbuckling is my new favorite word.

I love the picture of you and Sarah in front of SSE! You don't see that angle as much.

I can't believe I've still never had a full meal at Sunshine Seasons. I don't know what I'm doing with my life. I guess that whenever I'm hungry anywhere near Epcot I'm just like WORLD SHOWCASE NOW.

Holy crap. That Tower of Terror license plate pin needs to be mine, as does the one with Hamm wearing Goofy's hat. That is so random.

So many great reviews of GFC in the past year or so. I really have to get over there! LIKE WOW THAT DESSERT SAMPLER. JUST OMG.

Can I just say that I had my first Nutella Waffle Sandwich at 5am during Disney 24 and it was a religious experience.

I hope your mom is doing better!

Agreed - some rides are definitely enhanced by a friendly crowd (Tower of Terror is another one). :thumbsup2 And I'm so glad you had such a fantastic MK evening - I definitely did as well. :goodvibes

Btw, you caught my post before I could edit it to say "three" updates instead of two. I can count (sometimes), I promise.

Yes absolutely! I can't count sometimes either, so it's totally fine. :rotfl:

It sounds like your Mom is in good hands and definitely sending out good thoughts and well wishes. :flower3:

I love that photo at the check in desk at Sanaa and how, even though the gentlemen appears to be in the middle of something, he still took a second to smile for your photo.

Love love love Sunshine Seasons. I had the S&S Chicken myself. It was a nice change from the usual fried chicken balls.
And yup, that heavenly Strawberry Shortcake.

My sister and I are keeping track of her. :goodvibes Thanks very much!

The Disney Difference :thumbsup2

Me too! It's delicious and tastes much more authentic.

I'm not a pin collector at all, but now there are 2 pins I want/need. No Dancing and that little Monorail with the Mickey ears.

Do you know if they still sell that Monorail shirt because now I want/need that too!! But not to meet flirty guys, just for the record. :thumbsup2

Awww what a nice meet with Brenda! I'm hoping for one some day too. :goodvibes

The monorail actually doesn't have Mickey ears, that's just the pin back. But those were great finds. :thumbsup2

I haven't seen it anywhere on property, but perhaps eBay?

It was! I love DISMeets.

Great job! I hope your Mom is doing well!

You could probably get a walk-up for lunch! It's definitely worth a shot. :thumbsup2

Thank you! She is doing a bit better, thanks!

It was one of ours as well! We're fans too! Yes that's what Martin said haha. I hope you have a great meal if you decide to go!

No not at all! She thought you were precious. It was awesome to meet all of you too! Yes of course, if not in DL then in August for sure! :thumbsup2

She is doing a bit better, thank you!

Yay EPCOT!!

RIGHT!? Perfection. I still have yet to try one!

I love it!

Thanks! It was all Mom haha.

I have a respectful fear of World Showcase in the summer afternoons, which is what has helped my love of Seasons to grow.

I know but I love it! The license plate one was actually one that Sarah traded for Al.

Chapter 14: Pizza & Prime Time

August 20th, 2012

This morning we headed to Animal Kingdom!

dscn1933g.jpg

dscn1934r.jpg

The place is so lush and beautiful. I love it.

It was really crowded on this morning:
dsc00878z.jpg

LOL JUST KIDDING I LOVE AUGUST CROWDS.

Where is Stacey jammin' to the music?

dscn1936lv.jpg

This morning I was trying to get a Be Our Guest ADR for our December trip ALL MORNING, until we finally were able to get one for the date and time we wanted through DVC Member Services! SCORE! :thumbsup2

I was on the phone whilst on the Safari.

Normally I would feel bad about this.

But it was important.

And food-related.

SO TWAS NECESSITO.

Anywho, we had an exciting and adventurous morning, complete with Sarah being asked to join in the fun of FOTLK!

dscn1957m.jpg

dscn1959t.jpg

For lunch, Sarah and I enjoyed Disney Pizza Goodness from Pizzafari, while Mom and Scott got some Asian cuisine from Yak and Yeti Local Foods. Yum.

PIZZA:

The yummy Caesar salad:
dsc00915y.jpg

Chocolate Mousse:
dsc00916wf.jpg

I've had this meal so many times and it always hits the spot. I'm always too full to eat more than a couple bites of the mousse though.

After lunch, we went to visit my friend Mike, who works at DAK Guest Relations. He looked very snazzy in the plaid. Oh, how I long to wear the plaid.

We chatted for a bit and I told him about our successful snatch of the coveted BoG ADR. He told me I should have come to see him about it earlier instead of calling the WDW Dining line 1829031490 times.

Yeah.

Why didn't I think of that.

DUHHH.

Oh well, I got one didn't I?

We said farewell to Mike and I went back to Kidani on my own to shower and chill while the fam braved the fiery insanity that is DAK on a summer afternoon.

I cannot handle that heat. I would get heat stroke. Again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

For dinner that day, it was over to my personal favorite park, DHS, and off to the 50's Prime Time!

dsc00933f.jpg

We got ourselves a lovely TV table!

dsc00938db.jpg

Making faces:
dscn1965g.jpg

dscn1967.JPG

Our server was the ever-awesome Gary and he was perfect. We started out with some onion rings and milkshakes!

dsc00939y.jpg

dsc00943ez.jpg

I can feel my thighs expanding.

For her meal, Sarah went with the classic fried chicken and asked for corn instead of collard greens.

dsc00940hj.jpg

Yum! This meal is delicious and so classic. She loved it!

The rest of us PIGS went with Mom's Sampler for our meals.

dsc00941og.jpg

dsc00942k.jpg

YUM. That's meatloaf, pot roast, AND fried chicken. How can you go wrong!? Everything was tender, juicy, and delicious!

Family photo time!

dscn1971b.jpg

With Gary too!

dscn1972cy.jpg

Up next- dessert and some more of our antics. Stay tuned!

Chapter 15: Sheer Frumpiness

August 20th, 2012

For dessert, Scott went with the Apple Crisp a la mode. :thumbsup2

dsc00951gv.jpg

Mom went with a classic ice cream sundae, which she probably devoured right away because I don't have a picture of it!

Sarah and I went with the Boston Cream Parfait, which was delicious! The textures contrasted nicely and the whole thing was really yummy.

dsc00953ig.jpg

dsc00954pk.jpg

Chowin' down:
dscn1977v.jpg

Fun times:
dscn1982j.jpg

Gary made Hidden Mickeys using our heads!

dscn1983d.jpg

dscn1984m.jpg

dscn1985w.jpg

Mom and Gary:
dscn1986mw.jpg

We had an excellent meal and Gary was totally hilarious. He even called my Mom a snitch for telling on me for not eating all my food and put whipped cream on some green beans at a table next to ours to get some kid to eat his veggies.

He was perfect.

After dinner, we did the last Indiana Jones show of the evening at 6:45, because there are no more 8:30 shows. :rotfl:

I hope some of you get this.

If not, YouTube "Confessions of a Disney Employee" right now.

Well, not RIGHT now, finish the update first!

Jeez, so rude.

After the show, (which I LOVE and am finally old enough to volunteer for) we paid a visit to our friends in the Academy.

Sarah and Andy Griffith:
dscn1987t.jpg

Now I know a lot of you are probably saying, "She probably doesn't even know who he is!"

You are mistaken.

My sister and I have always loved watching old shows, and one of her favorites is The Andy Griffith Show! She and my mom love to watch it together.

Have any of you ever seen Bill Cosby's standup bit about going to the dentist? If you have, then you'll get this:
dscn1989e.jpg

dsc00968yp.jpg

If you haven't seen it, YouTube that as well. (AFTER the update)

"Lucy, you can't be in the show!"

dsc00961uv.jpg

"WAHHH, but Ricky!"

I Love Lucy is one of my favorite shows of all time. It's perfect and Lucille Ball is fantastic. I love her almost as much as I love Julie Andrews.

Almost.

Uncle Walt:
dsc00971z.jpg

We miss ya.

Just plannin' EPCOT in One Man's Dream:
dsc00982vr.jpg

Typical Tuesday.

Being at DHS at night is my favorite. There's always some Yard Rock to jam to!

dsc00998fb.jpg

I happen to know a friend of Mr. Morris Mulch and he is a swell guy. :thumbsup2

They did a couple Aerosmith covers that night, which was awesome and a half.

After we watched Mulch, Sweat & Shears for a bit, we headed to Endor and walked on Star Tours and then did my personal favorite 3-D attraction, Muppet Vision!

dsc01007qo.jpg

After that we got some iced lattes from The Writer's Stop and rounded out the night with those and the 5th row for Fantasmic, and then a walk-on for Tower of Terror! It was a great end to an awesome night.

dscn2004t.jpg

Goodnight, Hollywood!

dscn1996j.jpg

On the bus on the way back to Kidani, someone threw up for the 4th time so far that trip. I don't know WHAT was up the other three times, but this time it looked to me as though the guy was intoxicated.

And on that note, stay tuned until next time! :p

Happy Birthday Kristen!!! I hope you are having a fabulous day!

Gary at 50's PTC sounds amazing! I'll have to be sure to ask for him if "our guy" is not available. I've had the Boston Cream parfait before as well and would definitely order it again. It's nice to know that you can order corn as a side.

5th row seats for Fantasmic!!! That's awesome. Did you camp out or were you just lucky? Makes me think that after a couple years of not seeing that show it's about time!!

I'm a huge fan of TV Land which airs The Andy Griffith Show and The Cosby Show. Great TV!! That's so cool that Sarah knows who they are.

He is! I recommend Tim, Mark or Gary! They're all fantastic. Yes I thought it was super yummy! And yes, you can do green beans as well.

It was great! We've just gotten really lucky most of the time!

Me too! She was raised right. :thumbsup2

Great pictures of DHS! It's been years since we ate at Prime Time, but it looks like you guys had so much fun with Gary.

And I had to watch Confessions of a Disney Employee after you mentioned it. Thanks for the tip! Confessions Part 2 and Revenge of the Disney Employee were also great. Vista Waaaaaay!

Hahahah that's my favorite part. So funny. You are welcome! :)

Sanaa looks delicious! We are eating there in August and I can't wait. I love that they have those sort of "sampler" meals so you can try more than one thing. Your pics of AKL also have me so excited to stay there... in less than two weeks for my solo trip!!

That coconut pineapple cupcake at Seasons looks delicious! I haven't seen that one before and I'd love to try it - I'll have to try and remember to look for it when I'm there. And the dessert sampler for two at GFC looks so good! Can you tell I'm a dessert person? ;) In fact last trip I had that nutella waffle for my lunch... it was so sweet that it was almost like having dessert for lunch, but I enjoyed it!

Congrats on getting the Be Our Guest ressies for December! It's a great meal!

Seems like your server at PrimeTime was perfect for that place! So fun :)

Great Review I loved it !!! I also love that you refer to "Stacey" as much as I do :)

It was! Definitely worth a try! Dessert is the best.

Thanks! We had a wonderful time!

Thank you! Stace is the best. :thumbsup2

Hey Kristen, happy belated birthday! After reading you and Jess's trip reports, I decided to officially join the Dis :) you both have shown me so many cool things I haven't tried in my trips to Disney, and I'm looking forward to trying school bread and red velvet cheesecake cupcakes in August (when maybe I'll run into you? We'll see!)
