August 2013

We just changed our Oct trip to Aug. so we will be there Aug 15-20th, dd starts school on the 21st. We are staying at WL for the first time and are so excited! :cloud9:

I aske grandaughter today "What does 100 days mean?" Quick as a whip she said Disney:yay::yay: We go every year and I love how she still gets so excited:woohoo:

AKL from 8/13 - 8/19, then DT in DTD area from 8/19 - 8/28.

WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Our dates were 8/5- 8/23 & we were doing CBR & a vacation home. My big kids love CBR but my little ones wanted to stay at AoA. So I added 2 more days to stretch our trip so now it's RPR at Universal, CBR, AoA & then the vacation house. All the extras are a secret!!! So 2 extra day & 2 new resorts for use! I'm busting out of my skin trying not to spill the beans.

We are planning our first family trip Aug 2-7. Flights booked but we haven't gotten a hotel room yet. We arrive at 5:30 AM... Groan!

What are the advantages of staying in a Disney Resort? I've got 16 yo old twins and I'm trying to figure out the best way to spend these days. And do we take a day trip to the Atlantic? Kennedy Space Center??

Thanks!!

We will be there Aug 3-10 with 15 year old twins :) We like to say onsite for many reasons. The transportation: anytime you want you can catch a bus to a park or DTD (downtown disney.) Immersion: We love, love, love disney so we enjoy being immersed in disney. Since we don't mind staying at a value resort, I can't imagine it being any cheaper offsite so why not stay onsite for the benefits. Dining: The dining plan is well worth it for us, not just because it's cheaper than paying OOP (out of pocket) but also because of the freedom of not having to worry about which entree my husband and daughter are choosing (they always want the most expensive thing.) I also get the freedom to get whatever I want instead of choosing based on what they ordered. With 16 year old twins, I highly recommend DDP. The cost during peak season is $56.94/night for the basic dining plan. Both lunches and dinners included in the dining plan include a drink and a dessert. You also get a snack some of which can cost up to $5. I've run the numbers a few times and it's well worth it for us.

Once we arrive onsite we don't leave and really don't have time to take other trips if we want to see all 4 parks. We usually plan one day per park, except for MK (magic kingdom), we go there twice. We also plan a pool/DTD day.

Good luck with the rest of your planning!!!

Welcome! Come join us on the August thread as we all countdown the days until our trip!

For your first trip there will be more than enough to do without ever leaving Disney! If you want to take a day to go to the coast you will need to rent a car and the drive is a little over an hour with no traffic.

Staying on property is great! Some advantages are:

Complimentary service from the airport and back (plus they handle your luggage - check it at your airport and you don't see it again until it arrives in your hotel room!)

Disney transportation on property.

Extra magic hours (the parks open early or stay open late for resort guests)

Close proximity to the parks

You can have your purchases delivered to your resort

The overall immersion of the Disney experience!

Trip #4 for us August 25-31. Got the free dining PIN! :yay::yay::yay:

Staying at POFQ for the first time. We've stayed value in the past and been perfectly fine with that. But we wanted to upgrade to the full DDP instead of just QS. Once we upgrade all four of us, the price difference to stay at a mod was minimal. Afraid we'll get spoiled now, though!

Doing one side trip to Legoland this year as I have a Lego-obsessed almost 11-year-old. This will be our first time going off property. Usually it's DME and Disney transportation the whole time--total Disney immersion!

Don't want to wish the summer away, but can't wait to get to WDW!!!!

Hi all! I just switched our December 2013 trip to August 2013! Which means I really need to get the ball rolling on our itinerary and dining reservations.

It will be my husband, me, and our 1.5 year old daughter. Any recommendations would be awesome! We're staying at All-Star Music and have the basic dining plan!
