We cruised on the Fantasy from June 1-8, 2013. I have a couple of comments about the Rainforest Room that might be helpful to any of you who might wonder. . .
First of all - I got info on here that was not true for our cruise. Now, it might have been true on other cruises, but it changed or something. I was told that you could not get a cruise pass and that the best approach was to call Disney and order several day passes. So that's what I did. We ordered 10 day passes (one for me and one for DH for 5 days of the cruise). The cost was $150. When I got on the ship and went to the spa, we discovered we could have bought full length of cruise passes for the same cost. (That would have been for all 7 nights instead of 5!)
Also there is talk on here about two different costs? Something about extra money for extra services? They didn't offer that and acted like they didn't know what I was talking about. The rate was a flat $15 a day so the much better deal was the length of cruise pass IMHO.
There are 3 sauna/hot/steam rooms in there. The one to the right is a dry heat room. WEAR SHOES. The floor was extremely hot and slightly burned my feet! But the view from in there is awesome and it is nice. The middle one was EXTREMELY steamy. I couldn't breathe in there. The one on the left is a nice mix of the two, but be sure and take towels to fold over to sit on - the seat is hot - don't burn your bum! There are saunas in the changing rooms too, so if that's all you want - don't pay for the rainforest room - you can use the one in the changing room for free!
There are 4 different showers in the Rainforest room - a cool mist shower, a Fun with Water shower, and 2 others. My favorite one had an Atlantic ocean shower, a Caribbean shower, and another one. My fave two were the Atlantic and Caribbean. The scents from Soarin' (yay!) are in there and you can hear birds and it even thunders and "lightening" ! So fun!
We have sailed on the Wonder 3 times and love their RF Room. Comparisons: the Fantasy has two fabulous hot tubs with fabulous views. And I never shared a hot tub with anyone. They have fun lights you can play with at night - pretty awesome. There are plenty of stone warming chairs. I never had to wait for one - but a major downer is when the ship is moving, there is A LOT of wind noise leaking through the door. (You get to the hot tubs through the room with the chairs). There is a door there where the wind was whistling and pretty distracting when trying to relax. But on port days - this was a moot point.
There were always plenty of towels and robes and the lemon and cucumber water was always plentiful and refreshing!
One night I went in around 8:30pm (they close at 10pm). I gave them my KTTW card and said I wanted to use the RF room. I also tried to give them the little paper that had my days I had paid for (they had previously been marking them off) but they said - we don't need that - you can just go. I wonder if it was because it was so late that they weren't worried about it or whatever.
To answer a question I had read: yes - the pass is good for all day if you just buy individual days. They will put a little sticker on the back of your KTTW card and write the day on there so you can come and go.
I am happy to answer any other questions! Thanks to everyone who posts on these boards! I have been coming here since 1999 for answers to my questions! I love the DIS!
