I'm not really sure. I would think not because not everyone has a cheerleader with them.

Hey all!
I wish I would have looked at this message board PRIOR to registering today.
I'm a Disney Visa holder and I didn't get any notification about registering early or getting a discount with my card. BOO! How did you all know about that?

This will be my first Disney race and my 3rd Half. Doing the GSC for my 40th birthday!
A few questions for those of you that have done these races before...
What's the weather like at 5am on a Sunday in February. I'm in KS and here it's like frozen tundra! LOL!
Does anyone know if there are people that make sweat/head bands that are princess themed?
Lastly I've had a terrible time finding the host resorts for the PHM. Can anyone point me to a link or enlighten me?
Thanks so much!!
Gretchen in Ks.

Hey Gretchen and welcome! :wave2:
I think the Disney Visa people just learned about it on these boards! But I could be wrong. You might have had to go to the Disney Visa website or something like that, I remember reading a bunch of other people's posts that they didn't get an email notification.
I've never done this race before but I think the weather in 2012 and 2013 was total opposites - one was really chilly and one was ultra hot/humid? Hopefully someone who has actually been at both can shed some light on this for you!
Check out Bondibands for princess headbands! I have some (non-princess) headbands made by them, and they are AWESOME and they don't slip at all!
This one I DO know for sure: All the resorts are host resorts! :yay:
Where are you thinking of staying?

GSC SOLD OUT - less than 6 hours! Holy moly.

How did you all know about that?
I only knew from gearing about it in other races - I've never gotten an email. Sorry - but you'll know for the next one, right?!

Feb here in FL can be almost anything - from 20 and sleet to 80+ and sunny. Average is mild: 60s or 70s. But you really won't know until a week to a few days before the race.

I know Bondi Bands makes tiara sweat/head bands. All WDW resorts are hosts for PHM weekend, so you can take your pick!

Not sure where we're going to stay yet. It'll just be DH and I this time. The first without kidlets (aside from our honeymoon). We always stay at POR, but we want to stay someplace different this time without breaking the bank.
Suggestions?
I'll check out bondibands! Thanks!

Can someone answer this for me?

So...if you are registered for the Princess Half...we don't know yet about a park ticket or room discount yet? Because the January dates haven't been released yet?

Do we know when the packages can be booked?

Thanks!

Wow, the GSC went quick! My dh and I signed up for the PHM on June 6th. My dd wasn't sure if she was going to do it so I told her that I would let her know when the PHM was 50% full. Well, I noticed that it was 50% full about an hour ago and now she is signed up too. Whoo-hoo, I am so excited.

I learned about early registration and the Visa discount from this message board. Hmm, I just realized that I didn't even have to pay with my Disney Visa to get the discount. I used another card that I am trying to get points on.

Just registered for the 1/2 for DD and DH! Her first one! :cheer2: Also the 10k for me. Thanks to the posters here, I knew about the Visa discount (nothing on their website still...). We got $15 off each one of the registrations.

In case you didn't see it in other posts: just enter the first 4 digits of your card in the "coupon code" box.

The weather is unknown in Florida for February. Purchase from toss-away clothes now just in case you need them.
Sweaty Bands also makes Princess-themed headbands. I was chatting with a rep at Gate River Run in March and she indicated they had secured a licensing agreement with Disney. I'd imagined they are going to start having race and character specific bands soon.

In my opinion, POR and POFQ are the 2 best moderate hotels for the race. I prefer POFQ b/c it is smaller and requires less walking.

YAY!! Glad to hear this! I first learned of Sweaty Bands at this year's Princess Expo...they are amazing! I have not tried BondiBands, but I have been very pleased with my SweatyBands. :dance3:

2013 was humid! We did the 5K...@ 3:45am on race morning it was 62 degrees :crazy2:

Looks like NO ticket discounts available. Packages can be booked now, but you'll likely pay rack rate. (Never found the RunDisney packages to be good deals). You could also call regular Disney reservations to book a room-only, and you would be paying rack rate. Later if/when discounts come out, you can try and apply to your reservation(assuming there is discounted availability for the resort and room category you have booked--this isn't always the case)

Glad to see a review of the sweaty bands. I got bangs I did not think thru for my athletic endeavors;) I was just looking at sweaty bands online and wondered how good they were. There is a fabulous gold glitter one I'd never wear in "real" life, but it will be perfect for my princess outfit. I am not going full out costume, I'm not that creative, but I'm planning on wearing running clothes that coordinate with my favorite princesses for the 10k and half. Aurora for sure for the half, but can't decide about the 10k. Plenty of time.

If they don't offer much of a room discount or discount on tickets, we're going to have to seriously look at staying off-site and maybe only getting a one day ticket to MK. It might actually be cheaper to get a rental car and stay off-site.

How is it for people staying off-site for the races? Is it difficult to drive there for the start of the race?

Also, if staying on-site, we won't get a rental car. I know they have buses to the race, but what about the expo? Is it easy to get from your resort to the expo or do you have to mess around with transferring buses?

Those of you that have stayed ON or Offsite for a RunDisney race, what was your experience?

I think there's a convenience to staying on-site for the races that can't be matched by staying off-site, and in large part that's due to the buses being available to take you to the race. It's an early morning as it is, and stressful enough that adding the mix of worrying about driving there (when a lot of the roads will be closed) wouldn't make up for the $$ lost on one night of staying on-site.

We would probably still stay for 3 or 4 nights, but possibly only do 1 or 2 days in the parks if the tickets aren't discounted, so it would be more than just one nights savings on the hotel. People talk about closed roads. So, how do those of you that live close to there get to the race? Is it REALLY that hard to drive from another hotel, say Marriott Village?
