Coming to you Live from Disney World!-Take 2 AUG/SEPT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Wanted to say because of this thread I knew about the Darth Vader cupcake, I made my boyfriend walk with me to Hollywood studios this afternoon before our flight and OMG it was everything I dreamed it would be, it was so good. So thank you to the OP and to Barb for posting it! (Mind you we literally went in and out of Hollywood studios just for this and that's when I realized I needed help hahahha).

That photo of Ava with the cupcake at H&V is precious!

Paula: I WANT those short ribs at Citricos. Your entire meal looks lovely. Argh!!! You are a horrible influence since I was skipping Citricos next trip since we thought we'd take a break and try something else... makes me want to re-work our plans. ;)

EoS is always a favorite so those sandwiches bring a smile to my face!

Totally agree Brenda
Citricos looks wonderful
We've still not dined there and need to put that right!

Some more excellent updates, always nice to see sandwiches from Earl :thumbsup2

Now for our First Update of the Day, sent to us by Paula (smile4stamps) from the Swan, where she is currently staying and attending a conference.

First some pics of the food which was provided.

Paula said, "I was expecting just bagels and toast and cereal so was delighted to see real food!" :thumbsup2

"The Afternoon snack..

"A yummy blend of popcorn, peanut m&m's, pretzels and mixed nuts!"

1

Wow- I'm going to be attending a conference at the Yacht Club in July and hope our breakfast and snacks look like this! That would be way better than the pastries I'm expecting!

Now for last night's dinner updates, first from Paula's (smile4stamps) update from her dinner at...

Paula started with a pitcher of red sangria...

Hmm...will Paula be able to drink a whole pitcher all by herself??? :scratchin

"I may be stumbling back to the boat to get me to the Swan!" ;)

And so how did Paula do with her pitcher of sangria?...

But wait, does the "water" in Paula's water bottle look rather purple to you? :lmao:

Paula - what a fantastic idea. Why have I never thought of this. DH likes the beer but I want the Sangria. We always just get a glass and I always want the pitcher but know there is no way I can drink all that over dinner. Oh but now.... I can wander the world showcase sipping on that delightful Sangria. It's just not the same anywhere else . It is the best Sangria on property:thumbsup2

....oh and don't worry about stumbling to the Swan.... I may have had that experience before:rolleyes1
that may be the reason I always stay within walking distance of the Epcot's World Showcase. Always so many fun drinks to try:rolleyes:

Good Morning Everyone! :wave2: As promised last night, I have a great update to share with you this morning from the West Coast.

I'm happy to say that this was sent to us by one of our outstanding reporters from May, 1coolnini, and that she is now a member of our June reporting team. :woohoo:

And here is our star reporter...

1coolnini (and of course, 1coolpapa, too!) :thumbsup2

Their first stop was at...

"Yummy salads and sandwiches, but that isn't why we stopped here."

"We stopped here for this! :thumbsup2 1coolpapa needed his blended mocha frappacino ( I had to add the macaroon or it would've been a boring photo...HA! ;)) Still not sure why you can't find the frappucino's at WDW. Maybe they will have them on our next trip?"

"We got there at rope drop this morning (9am) and we were able to hit Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Star Tours, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones and Peter Pan all by 11:30. We definitely worked up an appetite."

So they had lunch at...

"1coolpapa got the Carne Asada Combo and I got the Taco Combo."

Carne Asada & Red Chile Enchilada Platter served with Mexican Rice and Refried Beans (Also looks like guacamole, pico de gallo, and tortillas on his platter, too.)

Soft Tacos Monterrey with Mexican Rice and Refried Beans (plus guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream, it looks like).

"We don't eat here that often but wanted to compare it to my WDW food. I have to say that this is better than the MK location that we found, but the winner has to be La Cantina at World Showcase. Besides, as 1coolpapa pointed out, you can have a margarita with your meal at World Showcase and you know what.... He's got a point there! :thumbsup2 Sure missing WDW but we do love our DLR home. Busy scheming trying to plan a return trip next May." ;)

Happy Sunday everyone.

Thanks again for this great thread. Everyone have a great time on your upcoming trips. I will try and send in updates from DLR once in awhile. I will have three of my grandsons visiting me in July so we will post some of their DLR dining favorites . I may get to Club 33 at Christmas time when my son visits, so if the thread is still going I will be sure and post some photos.

so excited to see my name as "next up" :) we left yesterday and actually have made great time. drove about 13 hours yesterday.. now we are about an hour outside Orlando. staying at the Nickelodeon hotel tonight and then arriving at Disney bright and early tomorrow!!

I wanted to try those short ribs in October. We dined at Citricos 3 times in October and all 3 times the decision of what I was eating was not up to me!! Someday I will get to those stories on my dining review lol.

I'm dining at AP tomorrow ;)

Hmmmm....maybe I better wait on changing that ADR! Or maybe I will just have to figure out how to fit in both!

Now for our First Update of the Day sent to us this morning by Paula (smile4stamps).

Paula checked out of the Swan this morning and will be spending her last night tonight at ASMusic, I assume so that she can take advantage of the free ME transportation to the airport tomorrow morning. :thumbsup2 Anyway, Paula has this tip to share with you regarding transferring between the Swan & Dolphin (non-Disney owned resorts) and Disney resorts.

"When I was trying to find out if luggage transfer was available, I was seeing both yes and no. :confused3 But I had no issues with either resort, both gave a resounding "YES!" [FYI, Paula stayed at POR before checking in at the Swan on Wednesday for her conference] So it saved me time and taxi fare, although I was prepared for it just in case."

Also Paula added this interesting tidbit of info, "I was also told the Swan will be doing a remodel starting probably next year. That will hopefully help with the "musty" issue."

Ok, now for her food update, Paula headed out to the Boardwalk this morning to have breakfast at...

"I appear to be the first diner this morning!" [I think this was around 7:30 this morning.]

Paula had a hard time deciding between the waffle, french toast, and pancakes. :scratchin

So which did she choose???

Country French Toast - Grilled Fig and Anise Bread with Apple-Fig Compote and served with bacon

BTW, Paula and I both agreed that they should offer a Trio Platter here with a taste of all three...the waffle, french toast and pancakes. :thumbsup2

Paula said, "It is yummy...makes me wish I had more days to try the others." ;)

I just got home from vacation (had a second week in the Carolinas after WDW) and just want to say thanks to Barb for all of the hard work she puts into this thread! I had a great time and was glad I was able to share it with all of you. Now I just have wait a couple more weeks so I can make reservations for our December trip and start the fun all over again :yay:

I love seeing some familiar local DL food choices! Thanks for sharing 1coolnini and 1coolpapa. I love the carne asada there. I'm a fan of the tres leche cake as well. Yum! Surely we'll run into each other there on day! :)

Ok, Paula is like my personal hero. That sangria in the water bottle photo had me rolling! :lmao: And what amazing restaurant choices! I have to say her meal at Citricos made me consider eating there for the very first time! WOW!

Me too! What's their kid menu like??

Been a busy day and getting a late start tonight, but let's see how many updates I can get posted before I fall asleep at the keyboard. ;)

Picking up where we left off with Paula (smile4stamps), following her breakfast at Kouzzina this morning.

Being right next door, she of course had to visit the...

And what would Paula pick?...

Perhaps a cupcake or one of the other sweet desserts?

Probably not a sandwich or salad...

...or a breakfast sandwich.

How about a sticky bun, danish, or cinnamon bun...

...or a bagel, crumb cake, or croissant?

So what do you think is inside Paula's box? :scratchin

Anybody guess a cheesecake brownie? :thumbsup2

Paula said, "It felt so wrong inhaling my sweet as people are running by me on the Boardwalk." ;)

Paula's verdict: "Sadly I like the ones at Disneyland better. The brownie part was more cake like. I prefer mine fudgy. The other thing that makes the DL ones better is a thin layer of chocolate on the bottom."

Where is the sangria from?

Next in this morning was a breakfast update from DisneyMamato4.

She said, "Breakfast this morning was early at the French Quarter, 6:00 a.m. So the only thing open was bakery items and beignets."

"Hot and cooked to order. They hit the spot!" :thumbsup2
