Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2012

The Family and I are staying at CSR for the 1st time this June and noticed that there are two conventions that week (3 days at the beginning of the week and another at the end of the week). I see the conventions as a benefit as it could cut down on bus crowd to and from the attractions. Is this thinking flawed or is that one of the advantages of staying at the resort?

There's almost always conventions going on. As long as it's not Grainger :headache: you probably will hardly notice they're there. You may see them early mornings grabbing coffee, etc., and then at nights at the bars. There were 2 conventions when I was last there and I saw some conventionears outside talking on cell phones ONCE. That was during spring break (first week of April 2012). For that busy of a time, we never had an issue with buses - except full buses coming back from a closing park at night. But that's expected and not a biggie.

Does anyone know if the doors to the rooms are metal at CSR? I have some fun decor to put on the door, but wasn't sure if I could use magnets or not. What does everyone else use to attach their family signs? I figured tape might take off the door paint.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

Just curious about the King Preferred rooms: Where are these rooms located?

Casita 1, 2 or 3?

TIA

Yes, the doors are metal. Disney definitely does not want you using tape on the doors. I think magnets would be fine.

There are king rooms in each of the preferred buildings - casitas 1, 2 and 3.

Thanks for the reply!!

I am worried that my parents will end up in casita 2 (with no elevator), is there usually a good chance of getting a requested area fulfilled? They are going in June.

There is an elevator that services casita 2. The problem is that you can't access the fourth floor from that elevator - you either have to walk up from the third floor or use the elevator in casitas 3 and walk around. Bad design in that part of the resort.

You might consider requesting a ground floor for mobility issues. Also, your parents should not be shy about requesting a different room if they are assigned fourth floor casitas 2 - their room number would start with 24xx. The front desk CMs have always accommodated our requests at check-in if they were not met initially.

I hope they have a great stay!

That is great news! I'll be sure and remind him of the room numbers before they check in!

Thanks once again.

We have a trip coming up next August and I'm pretty set on CSR. I love the sliding doors for privacy in the bathroom area, the queen beds and the pool is awesome!

We love CBR too but it'll be nice to switch it up. :beach:

Just booked Coronado with free dining yesterday, coming in on Halloween day, leaving 11/7. My 13 year old daughter chose this resort, she just loves the look of it. Very excited!

We have booked reservations at CSR, first time ever staying at a WDW resort. What does Preferred Room with connecting Rms (requested) mean?
We were told the rooms are near the Lobby and near Transportation. Is this a good thing?

Do the refrigerators have a small freezer to where we can freeze water bottles?

I bought clip magnets at the dollar store. They worked great! I used them on the inside and outside the door.

My 14 and 15 loved the resort.

I booked this resort on a whim and was regretting it at first, but the more I research it and the more I hear from other people the more excited I get. One of my biggest issues going to Disney (though I've been enough to expect it) is the buses and from what I have read CSR is one of the better resorts in this regard. The pool looks amazing....I love the temple with the water cascading down the steps...the only thing that makes me a little sad is the discontinuation of the breakfast buffet...

Either way I am pumped to be staying at this resort...I've been in a All Star, Fort Wilderness, and Contemporary rut and could use a change of scenery.

All booked and confirmed! July 9-14th ~ Preferred Room (Conference dates) & then to POP from the 14th-17th. :cool1:

:welcome: to the DIS! :goodvibes The refrigerators at CSR do not have freezer sections. The refrigerator will stay colder if you leave the cabinet door open (not the refrigerator door). We have turned it to the coldest setting and ended up with frozen water bottles in the fridge section.

That is going to be hard.:worried: We were ok with POP until be stayed at CSR. You will really like it there and the preferred rooms are a must now for us. SO nice. You might want to check and see if they would extend your convention rate for the extra nights, or on check out day, see if they would extend your stay at the same price. We did our first trip there with a pin code when they did not have a value available and got CSR for a better price than a rake rate value. Hope you love it as much as we do now.

Does CSR have AC that is motion sensored? I've been reading the stories about the issues of the AC at AoA, where it is motion sensored, and how hot it would get at night and while they were out. Wasn't sure if this was just unique to AoA since's a new resort?

The convention rates are from the 6th-15th so it wouldn't work for our stay. :( I guess it doesn't hurt to ask when we get there tho, I don't love the idea of having to figure out how to get our stuff from CSR to PoP...lol

Oh no! Just for fun I thought I would run our dates on the Disney reservation website. Right now we are leaning towards CSR but its not set yet. So i put in our dates of December 1st - 7th for CSR and was surprised when only King beds showed up. I thought that is what we want but that's odd that they don't even offer anything else. So I kept redoing it and still only king beds. So I went to their other 'view resort details' site and checked availability and sure enough under the 'regular' rooms it all says NOT AVAILABLE! :faint: What the heck! It's the first week in December it shouldn't be booked. Makes me wonder if I should really wait around for the specials in order to book. But at the same time do I want to stay at a booked resort? Of course maybe its just a conference and all those people will be in business meetings all day.

I don't see any conferences listed on this thread for those dates. Any suggestions???

Yes, I believe all WDW resorts do
