And the joggers.... With sweat pouring off them in 90 degree heat...
They're addicts. But at least they're addicted to something that's usually healthy.
I don't get the raves on Disney food in general. I've got a friend who puts the most avid fan on the Dis Dining board to shame, so maybe there aren't that many people going on about how authentic the food is and how excellent and high quality the ingredients, but I'd sure heard it a lot. In my personal experience Disney does a great job
for a theme park in offering a good variety of food, tolerably well prepared. But at the same time it's highly processed, mostly inauthentic if ethnic, and packed with fat and sugar to make up for the fact that it's been prepared ahead of time/is made with powdered eggs/whatever.
I enjoy Mickey ice cream bars, but I also recognize that they taste like the cheap ice cream bars available locally. It's the shape that makes them fun, not the excellent quality of the ingredients.
I like Dole Whip, but I'm not surprised a lot of people don't. The first time I tasted one, my brain, which is highly familiar with pineapple in a myriad of dishes, couldn't figure out what it was supposed to taste like for a bite or two! I don't know what all is in there, but a fair percentage of it is stuff my body doesn't recognize as food.
Once my brain figured out, "Oh, this is supposed to taste like
pineapple," that's what it's tasted like ever since, but that first bite was Not Pleasant.
I love the resorts and the parks, but don't get the whole "immersed in the magic" thing. The very thought of being trapped in WDW without a car makes me claustrophobic. After a few days of All Disney, All the Time, I think I'd be gasping for air.
