Enjoying this thread! Lots of good ideas for dos and don'ts to help with obsessive planning...:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Thanks! :hippie:

I have two boys ages 6 and 9, we wanted to take a tour but we don't want them to be bored, any good ideas for St. Maarten?

Hi all,
This is my first post on the cruise forum! I've read most of these pages but not all, so forgive me if this has been asked before (I did a search but nothing came up).
We would like to do a tour on our own in St. Thomas (have organized tours at other ports), perhaps rent a jeep or a car. I've been looking at the companies online and it's hard to tell which ones you can pick up near the port. Any suggestions? The reviews out there are very mixed also, so very worried!
Any advice you have for rental company and driving itinerary would be fabulous!

Great thread. DW and my first cruise since the big red boat well over 20 years ago. Going in August on the fantasy. Am getting great info. Please keep them coming. :)

Great thread. Going Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy in July. Second cruise first Fantasy Caribbean anyone tried the St Maarten SeaWorld Explorer Coral Reef Exploration or the St John the Island tour. Family of three DD8.

Has anyone done the Golden Eagle Catamaran on St. Martin? I saw two reviews on it that were quite different. One loved it, and the other said the snorkeling was bad and the waves were too rough for snorkeling. Any other opinions? We're really interested in this one.

On St Maarten I recommend Maho beach (airport beach). Took this video with my phone. Get there before 11am. Gets real exciting 45 seconds in

On St Thomas I recommend going to see Blackbeard castle. It can be done as an excursion (not sure what disney offers) or you can rent a jeep and check it out on your own. I'm a big OBX guy and Blackbeard was caught and executed in Ocracoke. Small children may have difficulty as there are a lot of steps.

Luv the video thanks so much for sharing. :goodvibes

There aren't a whole lot of big planes that land there. Maybe 6 or so a day. And usually only 1 of them is a 747. KLM airlines was this plane flying in from Amsterdam. It was scheduled at 11:45 but arrived 20 minute early. It was a 45 minute cab ride from the port as traffic sucks on the island but it was well worth it. It's not the best beach as the waves were a little high for the kids but seeing getting that video.....I must watch it once a day.

After the 747 came in, we headed back to a calm little beach that had a water taxi back to the port. The kids loved it. Calm warm water, plenty of umbrellas and servers to bring you beverages :)0
