Question regarding Security

Hi! My family and I have a trip planned in a couple of weeks and we were wondering if any of you know or have heard if the security for entering the DL parks has changed? The reason I ask, is because we heard on the news that due to the unfortunate bombings that have occurred recently, the TSA may be called out to theme parks (as well as malls and sporting events) and we were just wondering if this has been implemented yet.

Thank you in advance for the information ... Have a great day!

We were at the Disneyland the Monday of the booming,. and when we went back and forth no extra security was in place.. Even at the airport the next day, we had no security hold ups...

Not to say that they haven't increased it now.. but while we were there it was as normal.. bags and strollers checked and through the gates.. in less than 5 minutes..

Great, thank you for the information. I was starting to prepare myself to have to explain to my 2 little girls about the TSA security pat downs / checks.

Again, I appreciate both of your responses!

The thing is, the normal bag check and level of security at the Disney parks, in my opinion, would have caught the situation before it happened. Pressure cooker in a backpack would be caught by the simplest of bag checks, and an abandoned bag is noticed immediately at Disney.

I can't imagine the Transportation Security Administration having the resources or authority to check bags at an amusement park. I could see Disney increasing security.

We were also there when the bombing happened, and the only thing I noticed different was the bomb/drug dogs in the park. We hasn't been in a few years so not sure if that kana regular thing.

We have been here (DL) all week, and the bag check process is the same as it has been on the past.

99% for show to give you a warm feeling
Seriously disney security is a joke. Anyone who wants to get something by them can do it easy and anyone who thinks they are safe because of the checkpoints is mistaken

Uggg. It just occurred to me with our upcoming trip, I'll need to briefly explain this to my kids. One trip to Disneyland and then one trip before then for our youngest daughter and my husband.

Not true!

I was stopped for trying to bring in a Starbucks Frappuccino in a glass bottle. It could have been a dangerous situation had I not thrown that away.

:rotfl2: That's an interesting weapon of choice. I'd just grab one of the glasses/mugs on the shelf in the Emporium if needed. ;)

Is there a definitive list of disallowed items? I recall them looking into our bags but no idea what they were looking for.

You would be surprised. I guess if you really hid something but I think Disney security is less lenient as one would think and sees more than people think. I'm sure if someone is really adamant about bringing something in they could but that's true anywhere.

I hate to say it, but checking a backpack, bag, or purse is only just that. Realistically, anyone could wear or carry dangerous devices into the park, very easily. There are no pat-downs or even so much as a glance to the apparel visitors wear. I think we've all realized this since 9/11.

I wouldn't say it's 100% for show, they really do want to stop you from bringing in so much food that you won't buy anything in the parks. And alcohol, you have to buy your alcohol from the mouse. The CMs doing the bag check are not security, they switch out with the CMs at the turnstiles who scan tickets.
