We have almost the same dates - March 1-8. But since we're driving from Ohio, we'll leave home on the 28th. We'll be staying offsite that night, hopefully right in Orlando.

We'll be at the Poly, which I think is what I'm most looking forward to! This will be our 5th stay there. The first was in 2007, our first family trip, which was supposed to be a "one time" splurge. Of course we fell in love!!

Our traveling group is myself, DH and our 2 kiddos. DD will turn 10 on our arrival day of March 1. DS will be 11. Then there's my sister and her then- husband (they get married on July 6!). This is our 3rd trip in a row traveling with them. Next up is my BIL (DH's brother), SIL and nephew, who will be 7. Our second trip with them. My other, single BIL is 99% certain at this point. We have a few other maybes, including some friends. My Mom might fly down for a few days, we'll see.

We're already having group "planning" meetings which are mostly an excuse to drink and eat, lol. That's half the fun! My sister will be at the Poly for sure, their first time there. Others aren't sure yet.

Wow!!! That sounds like an exciting trip!!! I love the idea of your "group planning" meetings!!! :thumbsup2

We will probably be taking my mom for our March trip and it will be our first trip with her. I'm most looking forward to seeing the magic through her eyes since she hasn't been since ummm 1976 when there was only MK and she had only gone for a day.

It's so fun to go with first-timers! In 2007, it was the kids and DH, then in 2009, my sister's boyfriend. This time it will be my single BIL if he goes. I don't think anyone can really "get it" until they go!!

I just noticed our sons are both 10. Can't believe I have a child that old, lol. He'll be 11 in May.

I agree!! I enjoy taking others with us but also just going alone and doing "our own thing". I've never been able to take a first timer so my mom in March will have to do (even though technically she isn't a first timer for MK, she's a first timer for everything else).

My "baby boy" will be 11 in May as well. Why can't they stay little forever??!!!

I hope you have a great day! We are in the middle of state testing here so my days are crazy!!!

YAY!!! A March 2014 thread, definitely subscribing! :cool1: My family will be back home March 1- 8, 2014 and will stay at POR. I have been struggling with these dates because not sure if Mardi Gras on March 4th will affect the crowds. Since Easter is not until April 20th next year I was hoping for low crowds. Either way I am super excited. Our DS's do not know when we are going. My oldest thinks it will be December 2014, he will be excited when we leave the morning of our trip. ::yes:: I look forward to reading and planning with everyone.

:welcome: I'm glad you have decided to join us!!!!

Mardi Gras will definitely affect the crowds. In the south, mainly Louisiana, students will have off Monday through at least Wednesday for Mardi Gras. We are taking off the Thursday and Friday as well to have a full week in Disney. (I'm a teacher so I don't have much choice for my days.)

I find Mardi Gras the first week of March (back in 2011) to be slightly busier than the first couple of weeks of June but with beautiful weather and Flower and Garden Fest!! I can't predict the future but I definitely feel that the crowds are still manageable and better than further into the month.

Just wondering what everyone is doing in preparation for their upcoming March trips.:rolleyes1 I have been trying to figure out what places we want to eat at for our nightly dinners. I know we will go to Chef Mickey's (youngest DS LOVES) again as well as Coral Reef (my DH loves the steak). My family really did not like Liberty Tree Tavern. I think we may try Sci Fi and Hoop Dee Do Revue. Also, I am making a list of rides and other things we missed in 2012; so we can catch them in 2014.:thumbsup2 Have fun planning!!:cheer2:

We've been discussing resorts to stay at and restaurants to eat at but I must say that I"m REALLY distracted by my ticker right now so I'm not getting much done. :rotfl:

We've been talking restaurants! Hoop Dee Doo is a for sure for our first night. We all loved it, but DD was sick when we went last trip and couldn't fully enjoy it. They make a big deal if it's your actual birthday, too, so it's where she's picked for her birthday dinner. Ohana is another definite.

Others we are considering - we'd like try California Grill if we like the looks of the new menu. Considering Tutto Italia for a late lunch. Maybe 1900 Park Fare breakfast. Most of us had decided not to do Chef Mickeys this time, but DS, who never asks for anything has asked for it. But we found out it's just for their corn!! Lol. We might just bring him a can of corn or we may end up there again.

We plan to do the DDP again, but we don't want dinners every night. We found in 2012 that in early March, dinner time is often the warmest time of day for swimming. We often felt like we were rushing to get ready for dinner when we wanted to be lounging by the pool. So we plan to do some Signatures to have some "ADR-free" days, and some breakfasts and/or lunches.

Subscribing as I am hopeing to book a BB for March 2014 during our trip in November. Thinking about CR or AKL

Planning for early March too! It is our DS 1st visit he will be 23 months old when we leave.

I am considered about crowds but spring looks crazy this year no matter when you go.

She will love HDDR for her birthday! LOL....corn?? Surely you can just bring him a can of corn and go where ya'll want!! Since you are trying to use credits, what about a luau? I've always heard that they are pretty.

:welcome: :wave2: Are you part of the November Facebook group? I am a member there as well. We are crazy enough to be going during Thanksgiving week.

Yes with the way the holidays are next year, it looks rough no matter when you get to go in spring. Either way you will have a sweet boy who is having the time of his life on his first trip. I'm sure you will enjoy yourselves immensely!

Glad to see there are others out there already thinking about 2014!!

My BF and I have gone every year in September since 2009. This year we're going to Disneyland in December instead. But I'm already thinking about our 2014 WDW trip. We are thinking of changing things up and going March 1-8. We are from Washington DC and he's a big baseball fan so we're hoping we can coincide the trip with an Atlanta Braves spring training game against our Nationals. That schedule probably won't come out until November so we'll be planning before then and hoping for the best.

Also hoping for free dining at that time! We've always gotten it in September but it looks like they didn't offer it Jan-Mar this year like they usually do so I'm not sure they'll do it next year. The restaurant planning and eating is such a large part of our enjoyment of the trip, our trip dates may hinge on when they offer it. Just can't afford to pay out of pocket for all those meals we've gotten used to enjoying!

So, it looks like I'll be planning all our restaurants so I can book them 180 days out and hoping for the best. We're thinking of upgrading to the Deluxe Plan so we can finally try some of the signature restaurants!

Happy Planning Everyone!!

Deb

I am so hoping for free dining for next March!!!!:mickeybar

Did they offer free dining this past March?

Unfortunately no free dining was offered to the general public this March. They did have good room discounts but nothing with dining. People seem to think that Disney didn't "need" it because of the Fantasyland Expansion and the food kiosks added to Flower and Garden festival. :confused3

Unfortunately, no free dining this spring! I guess they had something called "stay, play and dine" but I'm not sure what kind of discount it was. We have no kids so the kids stay free kind of thing is no help to us. I know a lot of people hate the free dining promotion but we absolutely love it as it's let us try so many of the great restaurants!
