Oh the places We Go, The People We see

Hi, I just got caught up on your great trip report! I would love to go on a Disney Cruise someday. I usually do Disney trips with my uncle. He initially wanted nothing to do with Disney, and now he wants to go to WDW every year:cool1::cool1:. If I can't talk him in to a cruise in the next year or so, I'll just go myself:goodvibes:goodvibes.

I'm too far behind on all of my subscriptions to comment on everything. But I love your pictures of Castaway Cay (the only reason I'd probably do a cruise). I am caught up and will be ready for the next update.

I know you are having a wonderful time in Williamsburg! :thumbsup2

Enjoying getting caught up with all your wonderful pictures at CC. I especially love the ones of the ship that Geoff took. They are great. Sounds like you had a wonderful day on the island. I really can't wait to see it myself.

Great updates!

I'm now officially caught up with all my subscriptions! I fear for Abby's mom when she becomes close to those teen years! She sure is acute little pistol! It's fun to watch kids like that, but I'm sure glad they belong to someone else!

Castaway Cay is so cool, I would love to stay there & just the ship! Heck with the other ports. All of the islands down there have a crappy side & a much smaller great side. We only took the tours offered by the cruise line.

Have a good time in Williamsburg, we love it there. Captain George's was not so good, if that is the seafood buffet. Expensive & so not worth it. It may have changed by now, but the only thing that tasted good to me was the banana pudding.

We have eaten at all of the taverns, the King's Arms is very gourmet, very pricey & good. Chownings is so much fun in the evening. Games & entertainment, Claire would have fun as would you. The Raleigh Tavern Bake Shop has tasty baked goods for a snack or quick breakfast.

luvin the updates. I'm kinda behind because of the show was only looking at my own trip report lol

You had me cracking up with the "you need a razor blade an onion and some rope"

That's great you and Claire had so much fun on the jet skis!

It looks like your family had the perfect day on Castaway Cay.

Oooooooh a cliff hangerpopcorn::

Hi! Still incredibly behind, but at least I am caught up to chapters you wrote this year!

Your pictures in and around AKL are stunning!

That stinks that you didn't get a text notifciation that your room was ready- I hear that A LOT!!! But we are the ones who made out because you spent your time taking all those wonderful tours!

Just one question- are there any flamingos out on display??? :rotfl:

The flamingo series is awesome. Especially the close up ones near the phone booths- they totally look fake (those were real, right?)

The Zawandi gift shop looks cool and unique!

I see Flat Ben got a shoutout (his photo from the pool). Flat Ben's traveling days are numbered, I think. Has been pretty quiet since his trip in February to Mexico (with me). He has one more trip this week, and then he may come with my family in July, but I think he will be officially retired after that!

Glad you finally made it to the room. That is cool that you got a bonus view of animals from your balcony!

I adore the theming at AKL/AKV! They really nailed it!

OK, is that a vaccuum in the closet? Bad enough there is an iron and ironing board. I know the villas are supposed to be a home away from home, but that is a little too close to home if you ask me!

I made it to your arrival at MK for the party. The park is just spectacular in the fall! I haven't been yet, but everyone's pictures, and descriptions from the Halloween party have made a fall visit tops on my Disney Bucket List!

Too bad Claire complained about the earlier photopass shots, but your timing was great when you finally got them. LOVE the shots with the fireworks at the castle! And the magic shots with Claire and Tink are precious!!!

Gonna stop there for now, but I will be back to check on the rest of the party, hopefully sooner rather than later!

I loved the shell photo and the footprint photo, but they are all wonderful. I am sure you mentioned it before, but what camera are you using? I am considering branching out to DSLR. Nice cliffhanger. Have a wonderful trip.

Corinna

Thanks. I thought I was pretty clever doing the footprints.
I have an Canon 50D. It's an older model now, but it's a step up from the entry level ones. But the entry level ones are pretty fantastic now a days too.

Have fun next week. The weather has been really nice over here so hopefully it stays for your visit.

The weather was pretty decent. not quite as warm as I wanted it al lweek, but still not bad. Actually a few days at home were warmer, go figure. And Skip couldn't wait to brag about it.
We had a good time though.

I love all your pictures of Castaway Cay. It's gorgeous! What did they think of the Pelican plunge thing?

Have a great trip!

Thanks. I beleive they liked it. But they said it shoots you put pretty darn fast.

Have fun on your trip!! Yay for your dad coming- but isn't that a long drive? :confused3

Yes I think it was like 10 1/2 to 11 hours. Plus each way he did get off track a bit and had to backtrack. He's not good with directions on a good day and then alone and in the dark, he had a few issues coming in that night. Going home wass a bit easier as once he got on the turnpike in PA he had smooth sailing.

That is funny you knew someone below you.
Parasailing looks like so much fun there.
At least she got to learn to snorkel. Too bad about it not being great.
The jet ski sounds like fun. Glad Claire enjoyed it.
Loved all the pics of the island as you walked around.
I would also stroll along and take in the views.
Nice video. The island looks so peaceful.
Have a great week.

She enjoyed the snorkeling and didn't know any different, so she was happy. I hope to take on something better in the future.
I think the jet ski was a huge highlight for both of us that day.
We had a pretty good time. Sometimes traveling with family isn't all pleasant, but we survived this last week pretty darn good.

Finally got caught up again. Love all your pics. I would be scared to do the parasailing, but my DD wants to do it. The snorkeling looks fun!

Hope you're having a fun time on your current adventure! I seen your pic on FB, and I was thinking "Where are ya'll headed to now?" :lmao:

We were in Williamsburg, VA last week. We went with my parents and stayed at the Marriot at Fords Colony with their time share.
It was different than Disney but still fun and very educational.

You should let her go on her own then. I bet she would have a blast.

I have so much to go back and catch up on, but I just wanted to say I hope you have a wonderful time in Williamsburg. :thumbsup2

So good to hear from you. I have been meaning to email you, but my hours each day just slip away too fast.
We did have fun and I already caught up on your latest update ...so you can write more now. ;)

Hi there! I just found your TR a few days ago an have been plowing my way through. I finally just caught up! I haven't been reading all of your updates in between trip posts, but I see that you are going to be in Williamsburg this week. I hope you have fun!

I have been on a bunch of cruises, but never Disney. I have been reading the Disney Cruiseline trip reports trying to get a grasp on how different they are from another cruise line. I appreciate all of your pictures!

Thanks for joining in!!!! :thumbsup2
We had a nice time in Williamsburg. Different but nice.
I love Disney cruises. I have only been on NCL to compare, but I do want to try other lines to compare, but it's hard to go a different route. There is a chance i will do a Princess cruise this year yet, but we'll have to see how things work out. Mom is pushing to do one though.

Thanks! You will love it. I hope you can talk him into it. Show him some trip reports and pictures and he might go for it now. I am really addicted to cruising again and I wish I could afford to go more often.

I know how that is Kathy. I am so far behind and I tried to catch up on a few today and many of them I just read and didn't even respond. LOL
I bet you and Mark would love CC. It's a nice beach day.

I know you are having a wonderful time in Williamsburg! :thumbsup2

Great updates!

We did have a good time. It was very different, but interesting. Some of our traveling companions were ...let's say slow to rise and get moving, but we made the most of it when we could.
I will say I don't have a strong desire to go back though. I loved it, but for now, I know what Claire will and won't do and many places had some things to read and Claire did not like that and we moved quickly through those areas.
I know we saw a lot, but missed a lot as well.
This was a place on my bucket list and I am very glad to have had the opportunity to go there and it's amazing how much of our history I have forgotten only to be have it reawakened in my mind as I toured and listened to the guides. I am much more familiar with civil war stuff and I would love to find some sort of movie that shows more about the revolution period.

I'm now officially caught up with all my subscriptions! I fear for Abby's mom when she becomes close to those teen years! She sure is acute little pistol! It's fun to watch kids like that, but I'm sure glad they belong to someone else!

Gail is in a for a treat when she hits her teen years! It really makes me happy that my youngest is calm and I am done with my wild child raising years (Michael was swinging from chandeliers as a kid. LOL)

CC is a really nice island. I am not a big beach person, but they have some other things that keeps me going too. Claire on the other hand loves beaches and or pools.

We LOVED Captain Georges. It is the seafood buffet and my friend Jeanne recommended it to me. I read about it on Tripadvisor and it had mixed reviews, but most of the bad reviews were for the Virginia beach location.
We actually got there right before closing and I worried the food would be bad as we were getting the last of the day left out. But it was fabulous. The best clam chowder I have had in my life. And the crab salad was superb as well. We all raved about it, even my dad who doesn't care for seafood found enough to keep him happy. They also had sautéed mushrooms that were to die for. I am not even going to mention how many desserts I ate that night as well.

We ended up going to 3 taverns plus the garden behind Chownings for lunch one day. We also did Chownings for lunch one day which was pretty good and we had such a great waiter. And then Christina Campbells for dinner and that was awesome. It was so much fun and we were in our own little room and we had the fife/flute player come in and give us our own little concert and learned some interesting things from him. Also "Molly" Christina's Daughter stopped by and she was a hoot. She told Amanda she was loose. :lmao:

We liked it so much we decided to do Kings Arms on Friday for my parents anniversay to give another tavern a try. Again we had good food and it was fun. Excellent servers at both places. We had the same fife player there and again he was great and we learned some more from him.
I think Campbells was our favorite, but we had a good time and good eats at all of them. I liked my food better at Campbells though, but both were delicious.

I walked through the bake shop behind Raleigh's but didn't get anything. I wasn't hungry and decided I didn't need an extra calorie. Believe me I ate a ton this trip.

I totally understand. I get the same way sometimes too. I know eventually I'll catch up.

Take your time. I was gone all week and I have a lot of catching up to do now too.
AKL was such a great place to stay and we are happy to have tried it.

I would love to go back to the party again. It was really neat and I missed so much.

yeah I think that was a vacuum, but you won't catch me using it. LOL

We have eaten at all of the taverns & The King's Arms was our favorite. The are so many tasty places to eat in the 'Burg one can't help but to add a few pounds.

The Patriot was a decent movie about the Revolution, a bit exaggerated at times. I have a few friends that were in that movie. I ever cared much about the Revolution, but since I reenact I'm interested.

Thanks Doris. I'll look for that movie and see if I can find it. I don't mind the exaggeration at all. it will still have pieces in it I like I am sure. Like Gone with the Wind is a drama but I still love it. I know it's not all real, it's a movie but it still gives basic info and entertaining.

Well we are home and back to reality.
We had a nice time, but I am a Disney fan through and through. I enjoyed my trip, but I still prefer going to Disney.
Dad joined us last minute and made an 11 hour drive each way. We had ups and downs but we lived through it. My sister is used to living on her own and it was very apparent. She needed to turn the air to sub zero temps each morning while she got ready because she gets too hot. The rest of us froze and I kept going back and flipping the switch to warm it up a bit.
Also the family is slow to go in the morning and you all know I am not. So many days I twiddeled my thumbs while I waited to leave. If Dad wasn't with us, I could've used my laptop more, but I had it set up in the living room and we had him on the pullout couch. there just wasn't a spot to really put it in my room and sit to work on it. The internet was painfully slow as well.
I will probably do a report on this, but not sure how soon I wil lactually get to it. I have so much to do on this one yet and I really need to get moving on it before I work on another....and I am working on a few pictures for this one today, so hopefully I can get back to posting soon!

Welcome back home Jen! I know what you mean about liking other vacation destinations but not really loving them like you do Disney. Disney has spoiled us hasn't it? They do everything so very well that it's hard not to compare.

Exactly. It was fun, but just not AS fun. LOL. But it was really interesting and I am glad I finally made it there.

I know that feeling, I was wanting to do a trip out west, but Disney came calling with a 35% discount. AKL club level here we come!

Welcome back, Jennifer! :goodvibes I saw some of the photos you took on FB and can't wait to read all about your adventures. :thumbsup2

I know how that is. I look at other stuff, but Disney just calls to me.
I did have fun though, just not the same kind of fun.

Welcome back!

Thanks

Thanks!
I did try to post some while I was gone and I have actually edited a few already as well and posted, but it will be awhile before I start writing. I do want to share though.

Testing....photobucket has totally changed once again since the last time I tried to use it to copy pictures. I have no clue how to mkae the image bigger now and the linking is really weird.
Instead of improving they made it even worse thant what it was. UGH

I have never been a fan of Photobucket. I started using Google+'s album feature and love it so far. You can dump both photos and video into it and so far no problems with bandwidth. Hope things turn around for your account.
