Hi, I just got caught up on your great trip report! I would love to go on a
Disney Cruise someday. I usually do Disney trips with my uncle. He initially wanted nothing to do with Disney, and now he wants to go to WDW every year
. If I can't talk him in to a cruise in the next year or so, I'll just go myself
.
Thanks! You will love it. I hope you can talk him into it. Show him some trip reports and pictures and he might go for it now. I am really addicted to cruising again and I wish I could afford to go more often.
I'm too far behind on all of my subscriptions to comment on everything. But I love your pictures of Castaway Cay (the only reason I'd probably do a cruise). I am caught up and will be ready for the next update.
I know how that is Kathy. I am so far behind and I tried to catch up on a few today and many of them I just read and didn't even respond. LOL
I bet you and Mark would love CC. It's a nice beach day.
I know you are having a wonderful time in Williamsburg!
Enjoying getting caught up with all your wonderful pictures at CC. I especially love the ones of the ship that Geoff took. They are great. Sounds like you had a wonderful day on the island. I really can't wait to see it myself.
Great updates!
We did have a good time. It was very different, but interesting. Some of our traveling companions were ...let's say slow to rise and get moving, but we made the most of it when we could.
I will say I don't have a strong desire to go back though. I loved it, but for now, I know what Claire will and won't do and many places had some things to read and Claire did not like that and we moved quickly through those areas.
I know we saw a lot, but missed a lot as well.
This was a place on my bucket list and I am very glad to have had the opportunity to go there and it's amazing how much of our history I have forgotten only to be have it reawakened in my mind as I toured and listened to the guides. I am much more familiar with civil war stuff and I would love to find some sort of movie that shows more about the revolution period.
I'm now officially caught up with all my subscriptions! I fear for Abby's mom when she becomes close to those teen years! She sure is acute little pistol! It's fun to watch kids like that, but I'm sure glad they belong to someone else!
Castaway Cay is so cool, I would love to stay there & just the ship! Heck with the other ports. All of the islands down there have a crappy side & a much smaller great side. We only took the tours offered by the cruise line.
Have a good time in Williamsburg, we love it there. Captain George's was not so good, if that is the seafood buffet. Expensive & so not worth it. It may have changed by now, but the only thing that tasted good to me was the banana pudding.
We have eaten at all of the taverns, the King's Arms is very gourmet, very pricey & good. Chownings is so much fun in the evening. Games & entertainment, Claire would have fun as would you. The Raleigh Tavern Bake Shop has tasty baked goods for a snack or quick breakfast.
Gail is in a for a treat when she hits her teen years! It really makes me happy that my youngest is calm and I am done with my wild child raising years (Michael was swinging from chandeliers as a kid. LOL)
CC is a really nice island. I am not a big beach person, but they have some other things that keeps me going too. Claire on the other hand loves beaches and or pools.
We LOVED Captain Georges. It is the seafood buffet and my friend Jeanne recommended it to me. I read about it on Tripadvisor and it had mixed reviews, but most of the bad reviews were for the Virginia beach location.
We actually got there right before closing and I worried the food would be bad as we were getting the last of the day left out. But it was fabulous. The best clam chowder I have had in my life. And the crab salad was superb as well. We all raved about it, even my dad who doesn't care for seafood found enough to keep him happy. They also had sautéed mushrooms that were to die for. I am not even going to mention how many desserts I ate that night as well.
We ended up going to 3 taverns plus the garden behind Chownings for lunch one day. We also did Chownings for lunch one day which was pretty good and we had such a great waiter. And then Christina Campbells for dinner and that was awesome. It was so much fun and we were in our own little room and we had the fife/flute player come in and give us our own little concert and learned some interesting things from him. Also "Molly" Christina's Daughter stopped by and she was a hoot. She told Amanda she was loose.
We liked it so much we decided to do Kings Arms on Friday for my parents anniversay to give another tavern a try. Again we had good food and it was fun. Excellent servers at both places. We had the same fife player there and again he was great and we learned some more from him.
I think Campbells was our favorite, but we had a good time and good eats at all of them. I liked my food better at Campbells though, but both were delicious.
I walked through the bake shop behind Raleigh's but didn't get anything. I wasn't hungry and decided I didn't need an extra calorie. Believe me I ate a ton this trip.
luvin the updates. I'm kinda behind because of the show was only looking at my own trip report lol
I totally understand. I get the same way sometimes too. I know eventually I'll catch up.
You had me cracking up with the "you need a razor blade an onion and some rope"
That's great you and Claire had so much fun on the jet skis!
It looks like your family had the perfect day on Castaway Cay.
Oooooooh a cliff hanger
We had such a fun day that day. So many new things for Claire and she just loved it.eck it's been so long since I wrote, I have to go back and see what my cliffhanger was.
Hi! Still incredibly behind, but at least I am caught up to chapters you wrote this year!
Your pictures in and around AKL are stunning!
That stinks that you didn't get a text notifciation that your room was ready- I hear that A LOT!!! But we are the ones who made out because you spent your time taking all those wonderful tours!
Just one question- are there any flamingos out on display???
The flamingo series is awesome. Especially the close up ones near the phone booths- they totally look fake (those were real, right?)
The Zawandi gift shop looks cool and unique!
I see Flat Ben got a shoutout (his photo from the pool). Flat Ben's traveling days are numbered, I think. Has been pretty quiet since his trip in February to Mexico (with me). He has one more trip this week, and then he
may come with my family in July, but I think he will be officially retired after that!
Glad you finally made it to the room. That is cool that you got a bonus view of animals from your balcony!
I adore the theming at AKL/AKV! They really nailed it!
OK, is that a vaccuum in the closet? Bad enough there is an iron and ironing board. I know the villas are supposed to be a home away from home, but that is a little too close to home if you ask me!
I made it to your arrival at MK for the party. The park is just spectacular in the fall! I haven't been yet, but everyone's pictures, and descriptions from the Halloween party have made a fall visit tops on my Disney Bucket List!
Too bad Claire complained about the earlier photopass shots, but your timing was great when you finally got them. LOVE the shots with the fireworks at the castle! And the magic shots with Claire and Tink are precious!!!
Gonna stop there for now, but I will be back to check on the rest of the party, hopefully sooner rather than later!
Take your time. I was gone all week and I have a lot of catching up to do now too.
AKL was such a great place to stay and we are happy to have tried it.
I would love to go back to the party again. It was really neat and I missed so much.
yeah I think that was a vacuum, but you won't catch me using it. LOL
