Chapter 3: Downtown DisNOMS!
August 15th, 2012
For lunch, Mom ordered the Rotisserie Turkey Cobb Salad. She immediately became obsessed with it and wants to order it every time since then. Delish!
Scott went with the Pesto Chicken sandwich with WPE's yummy fries. I actually ended up getting this later in the trip and MAN is it good! Not too much pesto, nothing's overpowering, and really fresh. Perfect! And of course the fries are just to die for.
For their dessert, Mom and Scott each went with the Creme Brulee cheesecake, which they loved! I tried a bite and didn't want to give it back. So good.
For her meal, Sarah went with her WPE fave, the mac and cheese!
YUM YUM YUM. You really can't go wrong with this. The flavors are unparalleled. Such a gourmet spin on a classic. She loves it!
For me, well, I went with not only my WPE fave, but also one of my favorite foods in the ENTIRE WORLD. It's seriously that good. What could I be referring to? Why, the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza of course!
SO perfect. Thin crust, fresh tomatoes and basil, yummy pesto, the most wonderful goat cheese ever...it's just all of my favorite things on the most yummy pizza ever. I swear by it. It's the best.
Happy Frumps:
For our dessert, Sarah and I went with the frozen yogurt with yummy toppings. I wanted strawberries on mine but they forgot them. No big, it was still delicious!
They did bring these when we were finished with our meals as opposed to with the food so they wouldn't melt. Just like a TS!
After lunch, we decided to do some shopping!
What a Frump.
Mom's new phone case that she got, among many other things. So cute:
After a fun afternoon of shopping and overspending, we hopped the first bus to a resort that came so we could get to DAK for our dinner ADR. That resort just so happened to be the Contemporary! A little out of the way, but it would have figured to be about the same amount of time if we had waited for a resort bus closer to AK.
The beautiful Bay Lake Tower. I still can't believe I was lucky enough to stay there.
We hopped a bus in no time and arrived shortly after that at Animal Kingdom!
We checked in for our ADR at Rainforest Cafe, which is a beginning of the trip tradition for us. We were seated next to the fountain with the monkeys!
Our server was Gladys and she was so nice! Very attentive and friendly.
We ordered smoothies to start.
I believe Sarah had the Raspberry Lemonade and I had the Orange Dream one. Yummo.
For her meal, Sarah ordered the New England Clam Chowder, or the "Seaside Chowder," which is served in a kettle-like bowl and is SO GOOD. Creamy and delicious.
For our meals, Mom and I (and Scott too, I think) went with our favorite:
The Caribbean Coconut Shrimp!
YUM that stuff never stops being delicious. The rice pilaf and veggies were tasty and flavorful as well. Such a perfect meal.
We used our DVC discount, paid, and then left DAK as it was starting to rain. We only waited a couple minutes for a bus back to Kidani. The bus was full, and I actually had to stand withOUT handrails. Good thing I'm a pro. Piece of cake.
We got back to Kidani and saw some lightning through the lobby windows, which was basically the coolest thing EVER. Then mom and I went into this room to the right of the lobby with a fireplace and all these artifacts, where this GORGEOUS and a half CM was teaching about African culture. we listened for a few minutes. I love that Kidani does that! It just adds to the authenticity. It's so cool. Then we went upstairs, I took a shower, and we went to bed somewhat "early." We had a busy day tomorrow!
Oh! And for those of you who are wondering, this is what the couch looks like pulled out:
Pretty comfy and still plenty of room to walk around it.
