2013 Adventures, Boarded the Cruise Ship!

Was there an additional cost for the roller coaster and zipline? The shopping looked like the Straw Market in Nassau.

Yes, there was an additional charge, and the whole time we were there, I think I saw three people do the zip line and maybe 4 or 5 do the roller coaster.

The Zip Line was $90 a person I think..

The Dragon's Tail Coaster, an alpine slide-type offering that twists and turns through a mountainside forest. The ride, which is supposed to last from three to five minutes, reaches a height of 680 feet and tops out at 30 miles per hour. The cost: $35 for two people in a cart (max combined weight is 360 pounds). To ride solo, you have to be at least 12; those between 5 and 11 can ride with a parent or guardian.

Guess they figure they have a captive audience.

Mar 07, 2013

We slept in today for the first time this cruise (up at 7:50 am) with no workout. I know we have been good for so long, but today was a much needed rest day! Not like we have been super busy on this cruise, but just a lazy day was needed.

Here is the monkey from the night before…

We went up to breakfast with M&J and B&P and for the first time we both had Salmon Benedict, both our eggs were slightly over done (not runny, but we like runny). Both of us had fruit and I had the non-fat yogurt. Service was very good (We learned that salamat is “Thank You” in Tagalog).

After breakfast, we came back to the room for a few minutes prior to Progressive Trivia in Boleros. We didn't do too good this round (8 out of 15), but we are only 3 back of 1st place.

We came back to the room, but plan to meet up with Jim and Marylou in the Park Cafe at 1pm. I finally got to see the end of the movie “How to lose a guy” and it turned out ok, I think I wanted it to be better.

So at 1 pm I went to the scrapbooking event, David went to meet J&M for lunch at the park cafe, and P&B showed up. When I got there David already had sandwiches, chips and drinks, we had 1.5 each.

After lunch we went to progressive trivia at Boleros, I am not sure why that had two different sessions today for progressive trivia, but oh well. We stayed after the first round and played bar trivia; we came in second place and won a free drink of the day each.

Then it was time for the second round progressive trivia; we got 11 points this time, we know that we are ahead of denni's team but behind another team. We have lofty goals to win, but it is not looking so good!

After progressive trivia we headed to the schooner bar for music color trivia, this is where they played songs and you had to guess the song title and artist, and one had a color in the name. For example, one of the songs was the yellow rose of Texas and you had to name the song and artist. There were too many players so I sat out this round and went to the art auction instead there was nothing there for us.

After trivia we headed back to the room and watched a little TV, I caught up on the Inkheart movie and Something's Gotta Give, and then it was time to get dressed for a third and final formal night on the ship.

Happy hour was great but the seas were pretty rough, lots of turbulence, up and down and shaking the ship, glasses dropping, people dropping, I was really surprised that the waitstaff did as well as they did. It was really rough.

This guy had little lobsters all over his pants, they looked like sleep pants, I was so surprised to see him wear these on a formal night…

[Continued from previous post]

For starter I had the Duck and Port Wine Terrine, Smoked duck, prosciutto, mixed baby greens, shaved Anjou pear, homemade brioche and red currant-port syrup

David had the Royal Seafood Salad, Crab, Shrimp, and Lobster sensation with jicama slaw and a citrus drizzle.

For the soup David had the Roasted Poblano Pepper and Corn Soup,

I had the Double Duck Consomme aged port and julienne vegetable mélange

Dinner was lobster night; and I had the prime rib instead.
Slow Roasted Prime Rib, Potato Croquettes, semi-dried Roma Tomatoes, Haricots Verts, and Horseradish au jus.

David had the lobster – Broiled lobster tail, garlic shrimp and seasonal vegetables…

Desserts… ok we ordered them all again…
This was the vanilla soufflé but it was not on the menu, my waiter told me about prior to dinner, so I ordered one…

This was a type of panna cotta, but I could not get over the Christmas decoration, I mean we are in March already!....

Sugar free chocolate raspberry pudding..

This is an angel food cake, with Cinnamon yogurt (low fat)

After dinner, Jim and Marylou, took us to the casino, and made us play a game or 4 of roulette.

7:50 does not sound like sleeping in to me :rotfl: I'm glad you were able to have a relaxing morning :)

Dinner looks delicious.

You look really pretty in that dress.

The casino looks fun. I have to admit the casino calls to me sometimes.

What a great relaxing day. It seems like you had plenty of brain entertainment, taste bud enticements and refreshments to keep you hydrated!

Love the look of the food. I think I would have had the seafood salad, the lobster and the vanilla souffle. Thanks for sharing.

And you look great in the dress. :thumbsup2

That made me laugh... 7:50 sleeping in... But was sleeping in for that cruise so far...

Dinner was good and we did enjoy it very much.

Thank you for the compliment :goodvibes

We are not gamblers and still have not stepped foot into Maryland Live but, our friends were determined to make us play something...

I never was much into trivia, but Jim and Marylou love to play, after we went with them a couple of times, I was surprised what I knew... So it has become very competitive and I have to make David calm down about it too.

But a good brain tease is good for you.

Staying Hydrated is always a good thing...

The seafood was cooked perfectly!

Well, I missed a few updates, but happy to see all the yummy food, drinks and fun! thanks for all the food porn! That angel food cake looks delicious!

March 08, 2013
Today we were up and ready to get started, off to the gym today and there was NOONE in the gym, I mean the place was so vacant it was crazy! I did remember to bring my camera today, b/c David was not working out with me, and I knew he would carry it back out of the gym.

So after working out, and cleaning up I met up with everyone at breakfast. We had the normal breakfast, I know it is not very amazing, and does not look like appealing so I will ksip the pictures of it today!
We spent the day very lazy, David even started packing some of the clothes, I always hate the packing day.

We went to trivia,
We had a double header today, for the progressive game; we are currently in third place. Not bad but I know we can do better.
The first today bumped us up to second place, so this afternoon we will have the final round. We head to the Diamond lounge for cappuccino’s and to catch up on the journaling.
Lunch was the roast beef sandwiches again. Those rolls are amazing.
Final round of trivia netted us a second place finish, so we were not first but second is decent, we won, an umbrella, a medal to wear around our neck, a bottle champagne (we will take to dinner and share), and notepad.
I took this picture because I swear I had not noticed it before.

Soon it was time for the lounge meet up and to say goodbye to everyone, we have to get off the boat tomorrow.
I decided to go with an old fashion tonight, it felt like a bourbon night.

Now we headed off to dinner…

I had the Spanish Tapas Plate, Assorted cold cuts, manchego Cheese, and a Spanish Potato Frittata.

David started with the Pan Seared Sea Scallops and Chorizo, Cauliflower puree with a crispy pancetta and herb crumble

Dinner table mates

David had Cesar Salad, by now this is a shock to see I know…

Then I had Lentil and Rosemary Soup with Maltagliati pasta

David and I both, for the main course had the Rosemary Lamb Shank, Haricots verts, caramelized pearl onions, roasted pumpkin and a Cabernet jus

For dessert we had
Key Liime Pie, Tangy lime curd, baked pie shell, and a candied lime and vanilla sauce

Orange sherbet

David had the sugar free Key Lime Slice
Tangy Sugar Free key lime custard, sponge cake and berry sauce

They also brought David a cake for his birthday; it is tomorrow but tonight is our last dinner…

This also means one last Karaoke night…

David and Jim got up there and sang Brandy, your fine girl, by the looking glass, for me…

It was very funny, then we headed to our cabin, and finished packing up and setting out our luggage.

How is it the last night already? They gave you quite a few things for 2nd place. Was the champagne any good?

I know sad isn't it... 12 nights goes by way too fast...

First place got the same thing, but their medals were gold colored and ours are silver colored.

The Champagne was a low level variety, but it was fun to toast everyone at the table.
