OFFICIAL 2014 WDW Marathon Countdown: WE DID IT! Congrats everyone!

Well if there is a timed 5k for Dopey at 5:30 before the family fun run 5k at 6:15 I will be running both. I signed DS6 and DS8 up for the 5k....they are NOT running that by themselves.

I really wonder if they thought this through… who is supposed to watch the children if there’s only one parent?

I guess enough people didn't like that - now they say that it will be at the same time with a 6:15am start :-) But Dopey participants will have a timed race.

Sorry for misleading anyone - looks like there may be changes as we go for this thing LOL

Someone from rD just told me 5:30. So I don't think anyone knows what's going on.

I called the 407-938-3398 number and that's the update I got but I agree there is no way that parent's will not be running with their kids but the idea for the Dopey is to get a total time...I'm sure they will finalize things soon!

I'm not so optimistic. They have three half marathon weekends and a 5K adventure course beforehand. They event is sold out. Just because we all want to know right here and now, doesn't mean that they will or can answer with certainty.

As it stands now we have until November 1st to email proof of time. I have a half marathon in mind prior to that date but I was hoping to use my time for the W&D for proof of time. Any word if Disney is planning on pushing that date back?

During the marketing blitz that happened before the on sale last Tuesday - the marketing Dir. for RunDisney was asked by a blogger/reporter if W&D would be able to be listed as a qualifier and he said that he would look into it

Nothing definitive but as least they are aware of the request out there to include the W&D as a POT for Jan.

Suppose I can join this thread too.

Signed my son and I up for the 5k, signed him up for the Mickey Mile the next day, then I'll do the Half!

I was just going to do the 10k but when I realized I could do early registration that race had reached its limit for pre reg and I kind of panicked lol. So forget the 10k for me.

It's going to be an interesting 8 months getting ready for it all!

Okay experts, need some race planning advice...

What would you do with 4 weeks between 2 1/2 marathons? Assuming no injuries or other derailments, my training plan for Donald (race #1) would go up to 18 miles before tapering, with every other week a cut-back. Would you cycle down a week after, then go back up to 16-18 miles on the couple long runs before the second race, or just hang out around 12-16? Less? Not go up to 18 before the first race? Or is this just a stupid idea altogether?!

4 weeks between halfs is ok. I would take the week after #1 easy with a LR of 8ish then week #2 up to 14ish before tapering again. Keep it flexible and back off a little more if you are still feeling the first race. Not going to gain anything between the races just have to recover.

Hmmmm @ calling rD for a race over 8 months out. Must be an interesting place to answer phones.
