October 2013 Code Watch?!

Hi everyone
We just did something completely backwards....

We found flights out of our state (Delaware) on Frontier airlines for 450.00 total for all 4 of us non stop round trip.....:thumbsup2 SO WE BOOKED THEM.

Now we just have to figure out where we are staying and we are praying for FREE DINING. Though everything I am reading says there won't be free dining.

Anyone have any intel on whether its gonna happen this year? So excited and I can hardly contain myself....

Thank you!!!!!!! I booked my flight tonight out of new castle...$814 for 4 of us round trip!! I would have never known this if it wasn't for your post :)

No problem! I thought everyone knew about this great deal! Happy others are traveling out of little ole delaware. Hopefully other airlines will come here too!

I live about an hour west of Philly. So I tacked another 15-30 minutes onto our ride but it's worth it for the savings. I called the airport tonight too because I didnt know if I could park there for the week. We can, right now its free but they may be charging by october. We're bouncing around the idea of maybe getting a room for the night before we leave near the airport too.

Be careful where you get a room. Don't rent a room in zip 19720. Shoot for Newark de and drive the 5 minutes to the airport. Decent hotels are the Marriott courtyard, red roof inn, Hilton, but do stay away from rt13/ DuPont highway or anything on rt 9

Ok...thank you! I'm not familiar with the area at all. So that's a big help. I was poking around online last night looking at lodging close by. Ill expand my search today and check out your suggestions. When are you going? We're going October 26th until November 2nd.

SOOOO TRUE!:rotfl2: Newark is your best bet right off of 95:)

What is this app called? My kids would love to check it everyday :)

Search Days To Go on your phone and it brings up WDW and Christmas...just input your info and you can even put pictures into it. I downloaded pictures from our trip last year. I also do the WDW picture a day app just to look at different pictures daily.

Fun, thanks!! And yes, Route 9 and Route 13/40 is not the nicest area to stay :p

Ok...that's what I figured. We have a lot of places like that near me...lol Are the cars ok in the lot for the week at the airport? We plan on driving down and leaving our car there.

Do you have a link to historical information on this? All of the one I've seen have had FD in October before Columbus Day in precious years.

I'm not going to link to these sites, because they are competing message boards, but below is a copy/paste of 2011 and 2012's fall free dining dates from those sites. The gaps between dates are the blackout periods.

I was wrong when I mentioned the end of Sepember as a blackout period. It has been in the past, to my recollection, but I think more schools have coalesced around the first and second weeks of October for fall breaks in recent years (our school is part of this trend). However, note that in both 2011 and 2012 there is a 2-week blackout gap between early and late October. Both blackout dates began the Thursday before Columbus Day. Technically we could have gotten FD (because you can get package discounts into a blackout period if you check in before the blackout begins - unlike room only discounts), but it's not a good discount for us versus a straight room discount. To my recollection, room-only discounts had the same, or very similar blackout dates, making them much less useful for us, though we still take what we can get.

Reading mousesavers.com, she does mention that blackout dates are not listed on that site, but also that blackout dates are not all that predictable. I agree with that, but it doesn't hurt to see a recent history, just in case WDW starts getting more predictable with blackout dates to their discounts.

I don't know if anyone else saw this or not, but a few weeks ago prior to the summer offer being offered to Visa card holders (I think, it may have been before it was released to the public). I saw something on the WDW site. There was link to current offers and when I clicked it came with what looked like the same room discount plus ticket discount that they have been offering. The dates at the bottom were selected times throughout the year. I know I looked and saw our dates (oct 19-24th), but I didn't catch anything else. It was only up for a few minutes. I tried to quote my vacation for my dates, but it wouldn't let me select a date after April. It could mean absolutely nothing, just thought I would let everyone know what I saw.

That sounds promising :) Did you get a screen print by chance?

Unfortunately no, I didn't even think to take a screen print. Wish I would have! I just thought it was so weird to see them with an offer that was good for dates throughout the year, it disappeared very fast. I'm still hoping I'm wrong and hoping they offer free dining, as that will be a much larger discount for us. I'll take what I can get though! It would really help me if my mother in law would back out and we could upgrade from AoA to POR (both sanity and $$$, lol)
