Can I just throw one more thing out there to you? I don't remember when you are going, but have you looked into renting points for the 5 nights at AKL? We rented points for the first time and OMG! It was super easy, way cheaper, and I thought it was really a great way to go. I used Davids rentals and if you are far enough out it shouldn't be a problem to get AKL. You can add the DP to a point rental, and you can buy your tickets through undercover tourist to save a few more bucks (especially if you do it before price increase)...Anyway, I saw you wanted to save a little money and thought I would throw in my 2 cents

Just a note that you get a different room type if you go DVC - they have a kitchenette in the studios and you will NOT have mousekeeping daily while you rent. You would also not be able to cancel as you have to pay in full ahead of time, or move your dates or anything like that. Those are the big differences. You CAN add on the dining plan, you just need the owner/Davids to call that in as well as setup the ME for you.

It depends on the owner and the contract as to changing dates. It is written into my contract that we can change dates with the same restrictions the owner has on point use, subject to availability. So, if we needed to cancel more than 30 days out we have to the end of the use year to use the points, and inside 30 days we are subject to te same 60 day holding rule as an owner would be. Some owners don't do that and I don't think David's does.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when doing online check-in and making room requests (I have a savannah view), wouldn't requesting a room near the lobby double as a Sunset view request as well since all rooms near the lobby are Sunset view? To me this request seems like 2 for the price of 1, yea?

...not necessarily...a room near the lobby could also be a std room or pool view room....

Right but I've paid for a savanna view so it's not like they'll downgrade me if I request a room near the lobby. All I'm saying is looking at a map, if you have a savanna view and get a room near the lobby it would definitely be Sunset view since there's no Pembe view rooms considered "near" the lobby.

Was that with online check in?
I always call and make my request (after I book on line) so I can make it more specific. I always have to request that we are nowhere near a smoking area. My DS's asthma would keep him off the balcony if we were anywhere near smoke. Just walking past it to get to the bus makes him wheezy sometimes.

I was that way for 2 weeks. It took two Zpacs and a round of prednisone to get rid of my strep.
