These are NOT the rooms that I paid for! 3 Resorts in 10 days - Trivia Answers 9/3

What an absolutely amazing treat to be upgraded to such a fab room! Wanted to say a little Hi!, too :)

I'm a new user on here and have just subscribed to your Daughters wonderful Dining Review thread :)

Hi there!! Welcome to the Disboards. Thanks for reading not only this TR but Em's dining review!! I am glad that you are here.

Are you going on WDW trips with your mom? Hope I'm interpreting your signature correctly. :)

First time I've subscribed to a trip report! Fun read, and what a great upgrade!

Hi SpecialK - welcome to my TR!! Thank you for joining!! :)

Oh Brenda, how exciting for you and Emily to be upgraded to the Admirals Suite! I was so happy for you when I saw the news on the live dining thread during your trip and couldnt wait to hear the details and see all the pics.

Hi Debra!! I was glad that Barb shared our photo on the live dining thread. It was pretty fabulous.

ok I'm going to totally hang out on your TR, it's good for my ego :rotfl:

I'm confused though....and apparently think too much

If you were at AKL in the am, did breakfast at Boma, checked out, went to AK, lunch at Y&Y, EE...then how did you check in at YC at 10:30 whatever it was?

Whew! I think I'm caught up.

Wow! You did a lot of catching up! :thumbsup2

That photo of the time on my phone is what threw you... you are correct, AKL in am, AK park, and then checked in to YC in the afternoon. I randomly took a photo of my phone in the morning simply to mark time for my TR... it just happened to be right around the time that they were randomly upgrading us to the Admiral Suite. I just thought it was coincidental that I took note of the time right at the moment that we were getting the upgrade. ;)

You definitely deserve your legend status - my gosh...so many trips and more in the funnel. :thumbsup2 You deserve that status! And thanks for the kind compliments.

Thanks again for reading. :goodvibes

Sunday February 24, 2013: Day 2, Part 9? I'm losing track!

We met our friend (actually my co-worker) and her travel companions at the podium for Beaches & Cream but the wait was an hour so we decided to go to Captains Grille since it was highly likely that we would be seated without a reservation. And sure enough, no problem for a party of 5 to be seated at 6:15pm without an ADR.

Em and I had eaten here a couple times for breakfast but no other meals so this was a first. Our server, Joseph, was so sweet and congenial. Although I really wasn't hungry, I ate a slice of the bread which was completely counterproductive since it didn't make me any hungrier. I ended up ordering the Farmers Market Salad (greens, granny smith apples, walnut granola, dried cranberries, mascarpone-bleu cheese cream, and champagne vinaigrette.) It was perfect for my light appetite. Em ordered the Rosemary Brined Pork Tenderloin. She liked it and even tried the pork belly that was served with it. Everyone skipped dessert.

The food!

The kid.... and no those drinks were NOT hers!

DSC09048.jpg

We used my Tables in Wonderland card which not only applied the 20% discount to food but the alcohol as well. This was a very nice meal and I wouldn't hesitate to return - just next time with an appetite.

During dinner our friends had asked, How's your room? Just your typical friend chit chat for which you don't usually say much more than "It's fine." Well, seeing as how we had this fabulous suite we kinda had to brag a little and tell them they had to come see it. So that was our after dinner entertainment, showing them the Admiral Suite of the Yacht Club.

See...We allowed other people the honor of sitting on "our" sofa!! :lmao:

We were supposed to meet back up for Illuminations near Mexico but first we wanted to go up to the club lounge for the long overdue thank you to someone. The gals who checked us in were still on shift so we asked them, Who do we thank for the amazing upgrade? They said no one. It was completely random as they needed someone to occupy the room so they chose our family. I persisted, I had to thank someone and they responded that we would have to thank Mickey. We ended up chatting far too long but we had to let them know how much we appreciated someone's generosity.

DSC09070.jpg

While we were up at the lounge we saw that they had mini cheesecakes being served. Those looked quite yummy so we grabbed one each and went back to the room to enjoy.

By the time we should have been leaving to go to Epcot oddly we found ourselves not wanting to leave the room! When Illuminations started, you could see the fireworks, some of the torches, and the top part of the globe from our sunroom windows. It was so cool to have such a great view! Granted, not the same as actually being there in person but it would do for now.

Next Up: What to do next.....

A New Land with Beasts and Mermaids

DH & I have eaten at Captains Grille for breakfast also but not for dinner. It looks good!

Yes with a room like that you should have people over.:thumbsup2 I don't blame you for not wanting to leave the room. It was great that you could see most of Illuminations right there.

Happy Friday!

Ok I finally got around to watching your video. It's wonderful! I loved it, the video really brought all your pictures together! Such a beautiful suite! CL level looks very nice too - I've been contemplating a non DVC stay in CL level with DH next year.... What a nice dinner and how great you got to share your Disney Magic with your coworker/friend....

Also, loved Ems comment about the room having doors! :D

:rotfl: I do that all the time. "Ohhh, I'm so not hungr....ooooh bread!"

See...We allowed other people the honor of sitting on "our" sofa!! :lmao:

But you didn't shrink wrap the sofa beforehand! ;)

That sounds like such a nice and relaxing way to view Illuminations!

Looks like a nice meal, even if you didn't have the appetite for it!

I know those upgrades are 'random' but I still think they handpick the recipients! :goodvibes

Great update! How exciting that must have been to get an upgrade like that! I only wish that one day we can get an upgrade. Maybe this year when my family goes to Disney. My husband and I are celebrating our 1 year anniversary down there and my daughter and moms birthday.

Yay! So glad you posted more pictures! And I'm glad you were able to invite friends up to your room! I still think I should have just jumped on a plane to Disney when I saw that update on facebook… :lmao:

Whoa! That club lounge is nice!

I can definitely see why you would not want to leave that suite, don't blame you! Great that you had a view of Illuminations as well!

Just catching up on the Dis now...

WOW YOUR UPGRADE!!!!!!!!! That's insanely awesome!! You're like Disney royalty staying there!!! :thumbsup2 That was so sweet of the staff to upgrade you to there!

Your meal at the Captain's Grille looks good - too bad you weren't hungrier for it though!!

Haha, you mean the bread didn't make you hungrier??? You know I've never understood the term appetizer where eating it makes you hungrier. I just don't get it. :confused3

I absolutely LOVED your commitment to thanking someone. So often we only focus on complaining when something's wrong, it's so nice to compliment when something's right. :goodvibes

With that room, I would have been inviting randoms in for look. :dance3:

BTW, I FINALLY read "The story behind my signature photo". What a wonderful honour and experience. I can see now that you and Em are clearly Disney royalty with that and this room upgrade. :worship:

We had the camera warning in our Kidani parking lot view room also. Maybe in case they escape? LOL
I only tried Boma once for breakfast and thought it was just okay. I think December we will try it again.
I hope you called Photopass about the pics. We had the same problem and they did find our pics and sent them to us digitally.
LOL. There was a leak in the glass.
I love Dinosaur but it gets rougher every time. LOL. Age I think.
The character landing is the best character spot. They have so much fun down there.
That is one nice surprise/upgrade. It looked gorgeous.
That room is incredible.
We have eaten twice at Captain’s Grill and it has been really good both times.
Okay all caught up again.

We LOVE Captain's Grille. DH's birthday is during this trip so we are leaving the kids in a kids camp and going on our own for the evening. Out of every restaurant in Disney, he chose Captain's Grille. It's definitely worth going back to when you have an appetite!

Hmmmmm, you didn't want to leave you room?!?! I wonder why............. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Your salad at Captains Grille looks good and I always have to try the bread lol!
That's awesome being able to see part of Illuminations from your sunroom!! :goodvibes

Brenda, your room was beautiful and the upgrade couldn't have happened to a nicer girl! I'm so happy for you - you made my day reading about it!

Wow, I know I'm late to the party, but what a wonderful trip so far!!

That suite is absolutely unreal! I think I would have passed out if that happened to me! I don't think I would have ever wanted to leave!

Too bad I didn't have more friends in town but at least we had those three! :thumbsup2

Hi Sarah. Ha! Yes, the video is our best attempt to share the "moment".... yes, the quote, "there's doors"... last words before the big reveal.

I do that all the time. "Ohhh, I'm so not hungr....ooooh bread!"

But you didn't shrink wrap the sofa beforehand! ;)

That sounds like such a nice and relaxing way to view Illuminations!

Dave, it looks like you understand...Bread, the ultimate appetite suppressant. :)

It was a nice surprise to be able to view Illuminations from the room.

Looks like a nice meal, even if you didn't have the appetite for it!

Hi Marissa! It was a nice meal and great to see my friends.

Great update!
Thanks wii!

Hi livsmom! An upgrade could definitely happen to you too! :wizard: Sounds like you have some great things to celebrate this year - I hope you enjoy your trip!

Yay! So glad you posted more pictures! And I'm glad you were able to invite friends up to your room! I still think I should have just jumped on a plane to Disney when I saw that update on facebook…

Hi Christen! You would have been so welcome to join us but you would have to bring your cutie pie girls as well. ;) We didn't hang out in the lounge much but it was very nice.

I can definitely see why you would not want to leave that suite, don't blame you! Great that you had a view of Illuminations as well!

Hi Emelie! See... you can sympathize with our desire to be slugs in the room. :lmao:

Just catching up on the Dis now...

Hi Sara!! So glad to see you caught up. I hope all of your wedding planning is going well... 6 months from now... :bride: (Stringbean) and :groom: (Wingnut) :yay:

Haha, you mean the bread didn't make you hungrier??? You know I've never understood the term appetizer where eating it makes you hungrier. I just don't get it. :confused3

Hi Rob! See... you get the whole appetizer thing!

So funny that your comment about inviting random people to the room made me think...I could have gone to the lounge for some snacks and set them out and had an open house! It would have been a great moment for a Dismeet if I had known anyone was there. :rotfl2:

We had the camera warning in our Kidani parking lot view room also. Maybe in case they escape? LOL

Hi Scott! Nice job summarizing and getting caught up. Ha ha... age thing!! Sorry but that is hilarious!! :rotfl2:

We LOVE Captain's Grille. DH's birthday is during this trip so we are leaving the kids in a kids camp and going on our own for the evening. Out of every restaurant in Disney, he chose Captain's Grille. It's definitely worth going back to when you have an appetite!

HI Bridget!! Captain's Grille has a cabernet braised short ribs that sound amazing on their menu!! I hope your DH enjoys his birthday dinner there. :thumbsup2

Hmmmmm, you didn't want to leave you room?!?! I wonder why............. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hi Nicole! Yeah.... at least we had a good reason for not venturing out.

So funny but when there's bread in front of me, it really doesn't matter if it is good (Citricos) or blah (Tony's) I still indulge in some.

Brenda, your room was beautiful and the upgrade couldn't have happened to a nicer girl! I'm so happy for you - you made my day reading about it!
Hi Alysa! Thanks for your kind comment!! I hope all is well.... :goodvibes

Hi Jessica! Thank you so much for joining... you're not late, there's plenty left to share!! :goodvibes

Since we caught the "reveal" on video, I guess I'm glad that I just cried instead of passing out. :lmao:

thanks again for reading. :)

Sunday February 24, 2013: Day 2, Part 10

MK had EMH until 11pm that night and although we were snug in our room we got the urge to see the new Fantasyland. At 9:30 we hopped on the bus to go to MK. We knew it wouldn't be a long visit but that it may be worth it. The park was un-crowded which ended up being a good thing. We had the requisite photos taken on Main Street all the while inching closer to FL.

There it is!! Our first glimpse of the long anticipated New Fantasyland!
DSC09127.jpg

Mind you I dont have a map, I don't know the lay of the land or have a clue what attractions are located where. I just followed Em. The first thing we did was see Ems favorite princess (with or without fins) Ariel, at her Grotto. She came up with the clever idea to go to Gastons Tavern, grab a dingle hopper and then show Ariel that she collects human treasure as well. The wait was only about 10 minutes.

DSC09138.jpg

DSC09143.jpg

Ariel appreciated the dingle hopper and told Em that she must use the dingle hopper all the time since her hair was so pretty! Adorable!

DSC09147.jpg

DSC09150.jpg

Next was walk-on for Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid. By the way for anyone who is curious... this is the exact same attraction as Disney's California Adventure with much better theming in the ride queue.

DSC09154.jpg

DSC09180.jpg

DSC09158.jpg

I love the "treasures" sprinkled throughout the queue.
DSC09164.jpg

Note: I departed from my usual ban on using the flash on dark rides since we were the only ones on the attraction.

Ariel looks bored here!
DSC09170.jpg

DSC09175.jpg

We moved on to Enchanted Tales with Belle next. It was a walk on or rather no wait, to file into Belle's cottage. I have to admit that I had no idea what this attraction was about. I pictured Belle in a room with little kids seated at her feet while she is reading a story. Boy was I mistaken! Even at the point that we were ushered through the magic portal into the room with the wardrobe I still had no idea. It ended up being so adorable. The kid that was the Beast was bashful at first but then really got into his role.

DSC09227.jpg

By the time we exited the library of the Beasts castle it was after 11pm so the park was closed. We had successfully marked off our list the must do FLE attractions/rides!

DSC09242.jpg

The bus took us to YC/BC where we had nothing better to do than to go up to the CL lounge and take some more photos of the deserted room. While there I grabbed a handful of snack mix and yogurt covered pretzels. The wasabi peas were awesome!

DSC09271.jpg

DSC09273.jpg

DSC09282.jpg

Our only other activity that night was unpacking and losing each other in the room! I kept calling for Em, Where are you? & never thought I'd lose a kid in a hotel room! Em ended up sleeping with me in the King bed since it was so wonderfully luxurious and the view of the Boardwalk from the bed was incredible. We didn't get into bed until after 1:30am due to the fact that Em was doing a school assignment in the living room and I was getting our belongings organized in the room and taking a ton of photos.

Thus ended a day that no matter how many times we return to WDW will never be repeatable. We were going to enjoy the time in this spectacular room. Too bad we had only booked 3 nights at YC before we moved on to BLT!!!

Next Up: I can't quit you Bo!
