Crazy Question

Ok this is confusing so please bare with me.

We are selling our big contract and it is in ROFR now. We have a small contract that we are keeping.

At the spur of the moment a good friend was talking about going to Disney for the first time and me decided to offer to go with. Here is where it gets tricky.

Going Oct

We have Oct use year and 91 points coming and then can borrow 100 from 2014 but I need 196 to book and will need to purchase 5 points from Disney(no big deal).

So will I have to wait to book until after closing because I have 2 active contracts at this time and can't borrow from one because I'm selling.

Both contracts are SSR with Oct use year.

I hope this makes sense because it is cofusing to me too. I just don't want to miss out on a 2 BR at OKW.

Are you saying that you cannot use the smaller contract now because you are selling the larger contract? Yet the points that you are talking about are all in the smaller contract that you are keeping? You can book that now as far as I know. Just be sure that the MS person uses the correct contract for the points.

Agree with Bobbi. You cannot use any of the points in the contract you are selling.

You can use the points in the smaller contract that you are keeping any way you choose, subject to booking rules and availability. Since you are already within the 7 month window, there will not be an issue buying up to 24 points from MS when you call to make your reservations. (You cannot buy the one-time use points online).

Again, you must make absolutely sure you are using the points from the correct contract. (Sounds like you may be selling a master contract and keeping the add-on portion, but they each have a unique contract number). If you aren't 100% sure which points are in which contract, give your broker a call to review. He/She should know exactly what was sent to ROFR.

Good luck!

Thanks I was wonder basically if I could buy points if I had points available in a different contract(one we are selling).

Thanks I was wonder basically if I could buy points if I had points available in a different contract(one we are selling).

I think if you let them know that you are selling the contract and thus the reason you need to buy the one time use points, they will allow you to do it.

If the CM on the phone doesn't understand, I would ask for a supervisor so you can explain the reason for not wanting to use any points from the bigger contract.

They should allow you to do it. The one time points are by use year, not by contract. They will allow you to buy even if you have current points available in the other contract. I needed to purchase 6 points to fulfill a reservation. I had 6 points available in my BWV contract (though it would have meant borrowing). I didn't want to use those BWV points as I was saving them for another reservation. They had no issue letting me purchase points once I explained why. I would think your situation is similar. So as long as you haven't purchased any for the UY that the trip is in, that you want to buy them for already, you should be fine.

Thanks for all advice. I called today and was able to book and buy 5 points and just use the one contract.:cool1:
