Pre load stateroom account?

I don't even know where to begin searching for this, but question. Is it possible to have money preloaded onto your stateroom account? We planned on settling with cash, and just having it loaded up and ready to go would be super convenient :

Yes, you can pay up front any amount you want, and you can go and add money toward your bill whenever you feel you are getting low. At the end, if too much was paid,they will refund whatever is left.

Also, can we take Disney gift cards to guest services to credit our account onboard? It seems easier to suggest those for gifts fr upcoming birthdays than to ask people to call and add OBC.

We took two Disney gift cards with $500.00 each on them and took them to guest services the first day to put on our account. They pull all charges from this first, then what other form of payment you have on file with them. Be sure to keep the gift cards because if you don't spend all the money they will only refund to the cards.

I also put money on my account before going. About three days before our cruise I put the money I had been saving up for the cruise into my checking account and then I called and had them charge my account and put it on my onboard account. I had about $200 left over and they just applied it back to my checking account. Very easy.

First time cruiser here and seeing that number 1500-2000 just scared me. I wasn't planning on spending that much after already paying thousands to cruise... Is this an average amount to spend onboard? What are we paying for with that money? Drinks excursions?? What else?

I've not spent more than a few hundred dollars onboard. A large group doing excursions in every port, however, could easily spend 1500-2000.

I reviewed our bill from our last cruise and made an assessment of what really added to the bill. Palo, even though the extra fee was minimal, caused an extra cost that was not expected. Our group had bought a couple of bottles of wine when we went to dinner. So if you go to Palo and want to keep the cost at a minimal fee, do not order a couple bottles of wine. The arcade added also extra cost and I should note that it is way too easy to add money to the KTTW card. It did not help that my son was intent on winning the iPad device in that stupid machine that has the big metal claw. Bingo was another cost that added to the final bill.

This time I have prepaid our gratuities. Palo was great but since we did brunch and dinner on our last cruise we are not doing it this time. I am also limiting my son's ability to attempt to win that iPad (maybe it was an iPod touch). Last but not least...on our last cruise I would tip extra when we ordered drinks. I know the bill comes with an automatic 15% and I would add an extra dollar or two to the bill. This time I have $60.00 in singles that I am bringing to give. This way it will not end up on the final bill and the servers will get the cash right away.

Finally I have banned my DH from going into the gift shop with the other family's daughter we are traveling with He has a major problem not saying no to her!

The only time I've spent that much on any cruise was for a 10 night, but it depends on how you like to spend money and how many people have charge privileges tied to one account. If you like to drink, shop, etc. it can add up.

You sure can - and just tomb safe the first thing I did when I boarded was went to the guest services desk and made sure it was there - and it was.

I am not completely sure, but I think that WBTA cruise is like 10-14 days so yes I could see where you could spend that much - it also has a lot of ports so with a lot of excursions that could get expensive. We had two ports on our six day cruise - did one excursion (around $200 for three of us), I paid for three of us to eat at Palo ($90.00 with tip), a little over $200 in tips, some drinks of the day, some things from the gift shops, and some popcorn etc at the shows and I spent a little over $800. It really does depend on what you want to spend.

This post cracked me up. I'm just picturing that eye bulging moment when the final bill comes. I'm always amazed how quickly things can add up. We do allow our kids (ages 13, 15) to charge, but we give them a limit (what is it with those claw machines, anyway??? Kids are obsessed). Anything over their limit, they must cough up themselves. We're not huge drinkers, but I'm always amazed at how much we spend on alcohol. Last cruise, we took a couple of bottles of wine onboard with us, and we still spent more than I budgeted. Our final night in Pink tasting different drinks cost us BIG TIME!

What I like to do, is once a day, stop at Guest Services and "pony up" and zero out our balance. The last thing I want is a huge bill at the end of our cruise. It helps a lot. No surprises. To the poster that's worried about spending thousands, you can literally not spend a cent once you board if you want. It's such a personal thing. Where our money all goes is the gift shops, other people may spend it on alcohol or photos. So don't worry, I like to budget about 200.00 a day extra in spending money, it's a nice cushion.

I can see why you would be worried. But I think with the longer cruise that would/could be very doable.

I think for me and my 2 boys we spent less than $200. Granted we didn't do excursions. With it being our first cruise, I didn't want to sign them up only to have them not want to do it. Also I'm not a drinker. We bought a bunch of stuff though, popcorn at movies, a beach towel, arcade time, laundry, bingo, toys in the gift shop, etc. We found plenty of things to do around the ship and felt like we had a great time. Take what you feel would be more within limit for your family and just have a good time.

We weren't going to spend a ton, last year on our 5 day cruise to the Bahamas my DH and I only spent $500, on a few minimal things from the gift shop, a bottle of wine, but what caught up with us was the drink of the days on the pool deck and CC. Just wanted to call before and load up our account to make it a little easier

We spent about $1500 on our last cruise, what really added up was the port excursions and we splurged and ate at Remy. We had DCL make our air reservations so the baggage fees for the return home were also on the final bill. We also booked our next cruise so we had the deposit too, though this wasn't on our shipboard account I still include it in the final total. We also didn't have any OBC.

On our next cruise I expect to spend about $500 which includes the $200 OBC. This will include nursery time, a birthday brunch at Palo, tips and some small souvenirs. We aren't planning any excursions, baby girl will be too little and we are flying Southwest so no baggage fees. Our 2014 cruise is already booked so I plan to re-shop it, deposit on that one is already paid.

Yes, you can do that with all your charges. Just go right to Guest Relations and pay up, very easy.
