EEEEK!!! 1 week and 6 days until our 1st YC stay!!!!! :hyper:

I am having such a hard time concentrating at work! :surfweb:

Does anyone else think it's a good idea if the hotel decided to "theme" the roof VIEW in a beach motif? I'm talking sand colored rocks with blue colored rocks near the edge of the roof for that zero entry ocean effect. Maybe there could be a couple of plastic rocks to simulate a jetty and a fake wooden pier with a couple of those audio animatronic seagulls from Finding Nemo yelling "Mine, mine, mine!!!" every time someone hogs a pool chair....? :confused3

I love the zero entry ocean effect. :thumbsup2

bigAWL, love the photos! Our next WDW trip is quite far into the future, so I really appreciate the happy photos!

Jay, welcome back! Sorry to hear about the diagnosis, and sending well wishes to your family.

Pixarmom: You beach photos are absolutely breathtaking. Ahhhh.....:goodvibes

Pixarmom - Welcome Home!!!

Your pictures are gorgeous. We always do our "beach vacation" at Hilton Head. Your pictures are seriously making me consider Vero Beach!

Just booked CL today!

Thanks so much, Jenny and Robyn! I'll be right here lobbying for Vero Beach! Just a warning - no time to shop (especially with three boys), but the shopping looked quite good!

There only appears to be about a $50 to $60 difference to book a GV over a SV with the summer discount that's available right now. Should I book the GV? Are these rooms in a better location than the SV? I'm guessing most of the SV rooms are at the back of the building overlooking the parking lot. I guess I'm more interested in location than the view. Would like something close to the pool or the walkway to Epcot, but don't want to splurge for the water view.

Thanks for the advice!

Smiling Chesire Cat, I'll add another vote for GV!! Since that category debuted a couple years ago, we've always booked GV whenever possible. It's a nice middle ground between the parking lot view and the expense of a water view. We really loved our most recent GV near the lobby overlooking the courtyard on the lake side. We did see a bit of lake along with garden. And it was so easy to hop down to BC Marketplace, SAB or the path to Epcot. We've stayed in CL and non-CL rooms all over BC, and this was our favorite non-CL room.

Beautiful pictures! I'm glad to hear you had a nice time at the beach. I think our next FL trip will include some beach time. We couldn't swing it this year. How far is Vero beach from Orlando?

Thank you, AliceIn! It's approximately 2 hours away. Wish it were a bit closer, but I'd say it's well worth it!

Recap of Day 2....
Another great day! Thankful for that nap or we would not have made it to EMH at EP - not even close!

Thanks for the update, mommakacie! Hope you continue to have a great time - the story of your day reminds me of why the Epcot resorts are so convenient for families!

Pixar beautiful pics. My daughters enjoy taking surf lessons from Ron Jon's in Cocoa Beach. Last time they got the same instructor that also goes to TL! We are looking forward to 9 days Pre wdw this August in Deerfield Beach.

True about the incentive to book short stay, I added on 2 days at GF before our YC stay. Got a good discount.

Thanks, Sue! After boogie boarding all these years, I'd love to take surf lessons. I've decided against TL lessons, but keep thinking about lessons in California. Always looking for more beach locations, so I need to look into Deerfield Beach!

:cheer2: for extra days. I'll look forward to hearing about your stay at the new shiny GF (or at least shiny on the outside with the new pool.) It's the only deluxe that we haven't stayed at yet, but it's hard to give up our favorites to try it!

AWESOME pictures!!!

You put this one in to make me jealous, didn't you!?!

(actually, all of them made me jealous)

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Dee! You know how much we love the waves, but it was too cold for me to go in (high of 66!) so I had to settle for taking photos. :) Another "break a leg" for Ben!

Ohhh, I'm loving that idea!!! Good one :)

That is so sweet of you! She's going to love that.

What would be the best way to get from Beach Club to Grand Floridian? I have reservations for the afternoon tea at Grand View Tea Room. We don't have park hoppers, so going through Epcot is not an option. If we take the bus to MK, then monorail to GF, how long would it take and how early should we leave in order to be at GF at 3:30? And how about going from BC to Poly for a 5:20 reservation at Kona Cafe? Thanks for your help.

Disney recommends that you allow at least an hour (preferably more) when using their transportation in instances like you describe. Your plan to go to MK then monorail to GF or Poly is good, but you might also look to see if the boat is there. GF is the first stop on the boat leaving MK to GF and Poly, while GF is the last stop on the monorail. If you don't want to spend an hour in transit, there are always taxis available at BC. Not sure what it would cost - maybe $10 - $15 plus tip.

I was just looking up the info for shipping packages to the resort and noticed the info here is a little different than the sticky for general shipping to all resorts. The sticky says NOT to use USPS but here it says only to use USPS. They also addressed it slightly different but I imagine that doesn't really matter (leading with resort name vs guest name and reservation # c/o....)

Anyone ship packages recently? Which method did ou use to ship?

If you ship USPS, the package goes to a general Disney World delivery location before it goes to the hotel. When deciding when you should ship the package, you need to keep that in mind and leave extra time.

If you ship UPS or FedEx, the package does not go to the general Disney World delivery location. You do not need to leave extra time.

However, if you ship UPS or FedEx, and you are staying at a hotel which has a convention center (such as the Yacht & Beach Club), your package will be delivered to the convention center. The convention center office is staffed by a separate (non-Disney) company. They will charge you for handling your package.

The fee is based on the weight of the package. In March 2012, the fee was:
Up to 5 pounds: $3
5-20 pounds: $5
above 20 pounds: $10

You can walk over to the convention center to get your package. I have heard that you can have the package brought to your room after you check in, but I have never tried that.

If you ship USPS, I have heard that the package goes to the front desk of the hotel rather than to the convention center, but I cannot confirm this based on first-hand experience.

As for the address: sometimes people suggest that you put a lot of information in the address. However, I have used a FedEx label and they have a limited number of lines for the address. I have done it like this:
Recipients Name: Disneys Beach Club Villas Phone: 407-934-8000
Company Name: ______________________
Address: 1800 Epcot Resorts Blvd
Address: Hold for guest [put your name here]
City: Lake Buena Vista State: FL Zip: 32830

I have done this twice and it worked fine.

I have never put my arrival date or reservation number in the address or on the box.

I did follow advice that I saw here and wrote my last name on every side of the box. That way, when you want to retrieve your box, it's easy to spot even if other boxes are on top of it covering up the address label.

We have a ressie there in a couple days. If I think about it, I'll ask if (hypothetically speaking, of course) someone in your situation should cancel the person or just go with it. I personally think you'll be ok. You could always say the third person became ill and couldn't come. ;)

Thanks Kacie! I'd appreciate it! Maybe I'll tell them I have any imaginary friend or multiple personalities :rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl:!

Good to see you checking in now and again!

Did you see this a couple of pages back???

That picture of the sunken treasure now hangs in my office :thumbsup2
Any bad thought is melted away by the beauty of my special drink...

My goal: sunken treasure on my Disney Alaskan cruise....am i up to the challenge??

Heres a tip - if anyone trades vinylmations; i just scored a whole bunch at the disney store on clearance for 2.99 each....great for trading! My son got interested while we were in the World and it was costly paying regular price. I also ran into a lady who was buying about 10 an planning to use them as favors at her sons birthday party. just a thought.

And I was able to sneak in at the end to the men's room off the lobby (at the Marketplace end of the lobby)... but oops, I forgot to upload that photo yet. More later.

There are also a wealth of tips that appear here that are good for stays just about any where, so tune in when you get a chance and maybe you'll discover something helpful for your other stays.

It was great to hear of your latest obsession. Summer will soon be upon us and no one that reads this board will be at a loss for drink ideas to serve when guests come over.

I forgot to tell you fine folks - at Captains Grill - my FAVORITE place, we ate their for breakfast and dinner, if anyone goes for dinner, request to sit in AMANDA's section - she was SPECTACULAR. Her service was SPOT on. We happened to go for dinner the night after I discovered Sunken Treasures....there I was sitting by an EMPTY SAB watching the kids happily swimming in 65 degree weather in January...squishing sand between my toes and lazily letting the day go by while being served one Sunken Treasure after another.....well, the day must have gotten away from me because when it was time to leave, ummm shameful but i couldn't stand up and for some reason i kept giggling! By the time we made it to Captains Grill i was hung over! And Amanda, bless her, knew exactly what would make me all better...of course, i while i was feeling better, i wasn't completely healed and for the first time allowed dh to sign the bill, well if you are on the dining plan you know that bill can be confusing...lets just say Miss Amanda really liked my husband that night! no wonder she took such good care of me!!!
.and so folks, stay at the YC - everyone there, takes such great care of you :banana::banana::banana:
