wondering if anyone has done this before to take advantage of two discounts...
We booked the spring promo from 6/10-6/18 with the promo rate for the first 5 nights.

If I cancel the last few nights and book under the summer promo, we can save about $200...

Has anyone done this? What would be the likelihood of remaining in the same room? Packing everything up in the middle of the trip just doesn't sound fun!

This situation was just discussed on the Beach club thread. :) Someone had to make two reservations because their trip overlapped the two discount periods. It was the advice to add a note to your preferences that you have two reservations and want to stay in the same room. Talk to them when you check in, too. Hopefully you'll be able to remain in the same room the whole time.

One thing to keep in mind is that rack rate for WL and AKL is lower than for the other deluxe resorts. So a 20% discount at WL might still give you a less expensive room than a 30% off at the Poly, for example.

In my opinion this is exactly why the discount is lower.

Thanks! I just read that if we do the dining plan, this could get complicated... looking into why...

I am still thinking about upgrading to woods view.
The picture from another thread of a standard view looking on the roof is ever-present on my mind.

On the room-map I saw that there are many rooms that overlook the roof. Some might have no-view as they are facing a raised dormer.

Room # 4097, 098 and especially 099 sure have the most claustrophobic views in Disney World.

Has anyone a picture of these rooms?
It keeps my mind busy all time through.. :coffee:

I am afraid of getting one of those, even if we would request not to stay there...

We're coming back!

Booked another :santa: trip for the weekend after Thanksgiving. 5th in a row of our annual We Need Christmas Spirit trip.

Nov 30-Dec 2. Bunk bed room, enormous Christmas Tree, what could be better??
Yippee for booking and welcome back!

We have booked a courtyard view WL for a vacation in June. It has been awhile since we have been to the World. We have a lot of questions, so I have been trying to pick out pieces of this thread to learn. Two basic transportation questions. What is the most efficient way to get to MK, boat or bus? Coming back to WL, I think we will take the boat, since we probably won't have anywhere we need to be at a certain time. What is the most efficient way from WL to Hoop Dee Doo at the campgrounds, boat, bus, or walk?
Congratulations on booking!

It's all a matter of timing, which can't be predicted since buses/boats don't depart on an exact schedule. The bus is the quickest from WL to MK (5 minutes), but you may wait longer for it than the Red Flag boat if you just missed it. Walking to HDDR takes about 20 minutes. The Blue Flag boat does drop off close to HDDR. It's less than a 5 minute walk from the dock to HDDR and about a 10 minute boat ride, but you may have to wait up to 20 minutes for the boat if you just missed it. We love to mix it up and walk/boat/bus throughout the day.

Does anybody know why they dont include the Wilderness Lodge in the 30% off discounts anymore?:confused3 They only get 20%.. Make me wonder about later discounts including Military...:worried:
Well, for years the Deluxes have always been 40% off with the Military Promo, but you're right that they might someday be discontinued or reduced:worried:

This is easier done with a room-only booking Vs. a package. I've done it with room-only bookings and was able to stay in the same room. If you do it, just ask the CM to make a "continuing reservation." They will note this in your reservation and the room assignor will see it and attempt to book you in the same room. When you check-in, just remind the CM that you have a continuing reservation with a different confirmation number and ask if you can remain in the same room. The day your new package starts, just go to the lobby and get your new KTTW cards since you are technically checking back in. Make sure that your DDP and tix have been loaded.

Standard Views can be of the parking lot, roof, service area below... But they can be combined with views of woods and Wishes. There is no guarantee that you won't get a view that you're unhappy with, so I would book a Woods View and request 5th floor (so that you don't get a solid balcony railing) and North Wing (so you might see some of Wishes and the Otter Pond and you won't see a roof or parking lot.) I think that would be a request you could live with.

Does anyone know if the range of views holds true for concierge as well? Should I be concerned about getting a view of garbage cans? 

The Standard CL rooms have three views:

1. WL/Inner Courtyard

2. North Wing Woods facing toward MK/CR/Castle

3. South Wing Woods facing toward VWL

CL views can be requested, but not guaranteed, but there aren't any garbage can views with a Standard CL room, except the one that's in your room.

We've had both the Courtyard/pool view and the one facing the MK and am seriously on the fence on what to request for our Sept.

The courtyard view is definitely gorgeous. I love looking out towards Bay Lake plus you get the water pageant in the evenings. The view towards the MK does have the loading dock and such below but to be able to watch the fireworks from our balcony and see the castle/CR and sometimes a monorail was fantastic. Plus the smoker was below (or close to being below) our room in 2009 and my husband was in BBQ heaven every time the scent drifted up to our balcony.

The view towards VWL isn't bad, just kind of boring (IMO). We weren't CL our first trip in 2007 (cant even remember what floor we were on) but that was our view.

WDWKOOK - hey look at my post count....

It's been a goal of mine to reach the post count of the great WDWKOOK...you better get posting girl!!!

Now if I could only reach Meriweather...whose at something like 170,000+ posts.....

I do this all the time for guests who have split reservations, say a room only for check in night and then a package for the duration of your stay. Just have the cast member link the original reservation to the new one and most likely you won't have to move. While there are no guarantees, it's highly unlikely that they would inconvenience you. I've never had a guest complain about having to move after their trip...knock on wood! ;)

Put in our room requests for our stay in Aug! We booked a Woods View bunk bed room and requested a high floor and Otter Pond. I would love to see the castle from our room...and if we saw an odd monorail my 2 year old would flip out! He is obsessed! When you ask him what he wants to do for his birthday he will tell you, "ride the monorail at Disney World"!

Sounds great. You should take DS over to the Contempo Cafe to watch the monorails and maybe get a cupcake - or two;)

(We miss each other by 3 days in July:()

 Couldn't do it without all you great WL/VWL DISers:grouphug:

(Just noticed in the Log that we miss each other by one day in July:()

I remember in 2010 WL has 'special' photographers available where you could book a photo package with pics taken exclusively around WL for a very reasonable price.

I heard last year they were at other resorts but not WL.

Anyone know if they are at WL THIS year? ( I can't find who to call.)

Since you're staying CL, just email or call the IPO and they will find out for you.
